In this slim volume are the secrets to rigging and sail plans of vessels like the Bluenose. Includes explanations of the type of vessels, the construction techniques and the shape of the hulls. Intricate drawings and appropriate descriptions explain the lore and the language of the vessels.
Excellent book. Lots of information about many different types of schooners. Will need to read it again if I hope to remember much of it. Nice quote from one of the builders of schooners in the Maritimes whose family had been building such boats for generations, detailing the process of how a schooner was built in the 1970's.
Small, heavily illustrated book on the history of New England and Canadian Maritime schooners. Not heavily detailed, but enough to whet your appetite for more.
