This is a delightfully charming book for film fans. It's tongue is buried firmly in its cheek, yet this doesn't in any sense diminish the the possible value it offers. It might make you chuckle, but it is also teaching you about the various genres it looks at.

With that said, I think that those who already have an understanding of each genre will get a much deeper and richer experience from reading. If you are now or have ever been a film fan, or you have one in your family, then I highly recommend you purchase it for them and William Fichtner.

This is such a charming book. It made me giggle at the first pages and it is spot on all the cliches and cliff-hangers of the most movie types out there (especially hollywood). It does a service in educating amateurs and film lovers in general on what makes movies tick, and it does it with clever writing, nice illustrations and lots of humor. Highly recommended, especially for teens interested in movies.
