DEATH BY INDULGENCE previously published as Fat Chance, is a stand-alone psychological suspense crime novel by AB Morgan. Love the humor in this novel. This is a lighthearted crime read with a twist.

Ella Fitzwilliam’s world is about to change drastically! She was employed by her friend Val to expose the secrets of two men who meet nearly every week at Buxham’s, a private members’ club. But Ella is not cut out to be a private investigator and yet with little or no aptitude for the job, she’s been

Death by Indulgence, previously published as Fat Chance, is critically-acclaimed crime writer AB Morgan's fifth thriller, and what a refreshingly original read it is. The contents of the book very much reflect the title and the story is a sickening illustration of how money can buy you just about anything. I found myself ruminating on this as it really is rather thought-provoking and by the end the old adage "money is the root of all evil" was ever-present in the forefront of my mind. It centres ...more

When Ella agrees to try help her friend get evidence on a surgeon who molested her, little does she know what she's let herself, and her mental health, in for.

Ella is a fantastic character who I found funny (often when perhaps I shouldn't have,) and interesting. She is Bi-Polar and reading her story was a real eye opener into the condition. One of the main reasons I've enjoyed all of Morgan's books so much is because of her ability to weave mental health issues into her thrillers so effectively.

A different thriller which has me gasping like a fish out of the water. There were twists and unexpected happenings that my eyes couldn't believe.

Ella was the most uncovered undercover private investigator who was employed by her friend Val to reveal the secrets of plastic surgeon Marcus and lawyer Harry and their time spent in the exclusive Buxham Club.

On the other hand, journalist Konrad too was investigating the unhealthy appetites of the patrons of this Club. Things happened, a severed thumb

The story revolves round Ella, a larger than life character in every possible sense. Ella has tried many roles in life but not quite fit into any so when her friend, a private investigator, offers her an undercover assignment she takes on the part enthusiastically.
Buxham’s is a place where privacy, secrecy and sheer indulgence in gluttony takes place. Feeders can happy drool over ladies that are proud of their poundage and who are willing, for a price to take things to another level privately. T
I frequently choose a book by its cover or at least will give it a second glance but with Death By Indulgence I had no cover. So I had to rely on the blurb and thank goodness!!! What I read was an unusual combination of what starts off as a cozy crime with an undertone of black comedy which transforms itself into something slightly darker.

I loved the relationship Ellie had with Val and Mal. On the surface, it’s a working partnership with Val nurturing Ellie’s PI career but as the story developed

Ella Fitzgerald is a woman of many talents.. or at least jobs. Her last job was calling bingo numbers and she did it in her own flamboyant way. The manager wanted her to be 'normal' but Ella doesn't do normal.

Her friend, Val, suggests that she might make a good private investigator and goes so far as to pay for an introductory class.

Ella Fitzwilliam is between jobs when her friend Val asks her to take on a job as a PI working at a private members' club, Buxham's. She is to keep an eye on two men in particular, Harry Drysdale and his friend Marcus Carver. Harry is a barrister and Marcus, appropriately, is a cosmetic surgeon, working with ladies who are a little over-endowed. The club caters for men whose tastes run to the larger lady and Ella is appalled at what happens in the club where gluttony is the name of the game. She ...more

Having read all the authors previous books I was excited to be asked to review Fat Chance. What I really love is that with each book she publishes Alison Morgan’s writing goes from strength to strength and she has once again delivered a first class read.

There were many things I liked about this book, for one the characters felt real, you can imagine the reality of Ella’s battle with severe mental health and the triggers that set off a manic episode; the pressure of the need for constant self car

So I’ve read a few of A.B Morgan’s books now and this is the second to feature the character of Konrad Neal but it works well as a standalone.

Konrad Neal is on the verge of having his popular TV show cancelled unless he comes up with some new fresh ideas. Then barrister Harry Drysdale goes missing, with only his thumb being found, and Konrad finds the perfect opportunity to do some digging.

Meanwhile, Ella Fitzwilliam is in-between jobs when her old friend Val offers her a job as a PI. She must i

Death by Indulgence (formerly released under the title Fat Chance) is a refreshing thriller, with unique qualities and an innovative plot. The flamboyant, exuberant lead character, Ella Fitzwilliam is one of my favourite new characters of the year. The plot, moving back and forth before and immediately after the disappearance of defence barrister Harry Drysdale ties in themes of body confidence, mental health, confidentiality and celebrity and plenty of enjoyment of excess, both in terms of food ...more

Ella Fitzwilliam has just lost another job when Val, a friend from the past talks her into getting her private investigator’s license. It seems easy enough but she is going to learn that she really isn’t cut out for it. She would rather model nude for artists. But Val is on the hunt for some people that have harmed and are known to hang out at the private club Buxham. Val sends Ella in for recon and Ella learns that this club caters to those that enjoys ladies like Ella.

I received a copy of this book from TBC Reviewers request- Thank you
I really loved the character Ella, she tries to hard to adapt to her new role as a Private Investigator even though she is so firmly out of her depth! Parts of the book are hilarious and I’d challenge you to read it without laughing out loud- sometimes at the most inappropriate parts!
A really light-hearted crime read with a dark twist!

Death by Indulgence by A B Morgan.
Ella Fitzwilliam’s world is about to spiral out of control. She’s not cut out to be a private investigator. With little or no aptitude for the job, she’s been sent undercover to expose the hidden lives of two men who meet nearly every week at Buxham’s - a private members’ club where portions are large and secrets are held in strictest confidence.
A very enjoyable read. Loved Ella's character. She was bubbly. Liked the cover too. 4*.

I like A.B. Morgan’s writing style. Right away, she places you in the mindset of the character within the scene. Well established point of view characters make this an easy and entertaining read. Great suspense, mystery, intrigue, and well balanced writing.

A very different crime read. Ella is in need of a job. Her friend is a private investigator and suggests she join her however Ella is not really cut out for it. She does have a sixth sense about people but her technology skills leave something to be desired. Speaking of desired…. one of her first jobs is to infiltrate Buxhams, a private members club where the ladies are not slim shall we say. She finds a post there and has also done some life modelling recently which comes in handy when one of t ...more

Oh my goodness, Death By Indulgence by A.B. Morgan had me reading late into the night because I couldn’t put it down. Twist after twist, this book is full of thrilling suspense and even some humor. I love a little humor to lighten up a thriller a bit.

I really enjoy A.B. Moran’s writing. She pulled me into this story and held me hostage until I finished it. I had no choice in the matter, my brain just wouldn’t let me set it down. It’s fast-paced and I really enjoyed the short chapters. It seemed

Lucky for me I was given this book as an advanced readers copy for an honest review. First thing I would like to say is that I really enjoyed reading this book. It was lively, easy to read, and with a very good structured plot, lively in places, but in a way tinged with a darker side. However, what I thought was very clever about this book, was how the author has come up with a very original idea, which in today’s day and age is not that easy. The setting of the story was centred around a gentle ...more

This was a thoroughly engaging and gripping story from start to end! I didn’t feel the story dragged at all, in fact found myself devouring page after page happily, and forgetting that my pasta was on. It took me AGES to get the burnt pasta off! But, actually it was worth it because I enjoyed every moment of this book!!

The story was certainly different and brave of the Author in many ways, I loved the fact that several subjects people veer away from are considered in ways that make you think wit

I’ve read previous books by this author so when I saw she had a new book coming out I couldn’t wait. I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed as this was a great read.

Ella has just been fired from her latest job. Her friend Val asks her to join her as a private investigator. Her first job is in Buxhams which is a private members club.
I’m wary about going into the storyline too much as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

Fabulous Story!!

What an amazing, thought provoking story, highlighting many taboo topics within our society. The first and foremost being of the lack of understanding of mental health issues.....but what a fantastic way to raise awareness!
The story itself was captivating, initially giving me no idea to the outcome, but even as the story unfolded I had no idea of the outcome!
I'm looking forward to reading more from AB Morgan. Highly recommended!

I have a little confession to make. Yes I know, I have been ‘confessing’ rather a lot of late. Anyway back to this latest confession. Although I have a couple of A. B. Morgan’s books on my ever expanding ‘to be read’ mountain, I haven’t actually read one…….until now that is. I was invited to take part in the blog tour and I thought it would be an ideal opportunity for me to read and review one of her books. ‘Fat Chance’ appealed to me on so many levels and some of the lines in the book brought b ...more

Another brilliant read

This is a stand-alone book in the Crime Fiction genre. If you have never read anything by AB Morgan you don't know what you are missing. Her books always have a humorous element somewhere that has you laughing while still not detracting from the main theme of crime.

Ella is always up for a laugh even a mundane task like bingo calling has everyone laughing but the manager is not impressed and so endeth another job. However, among the audience is someone from her past and with

This book took me back to my youth, reading Agatha Christie and Miss Marple. Funnily enough she got a mention, which cemented that thought.

Where is the body, all we have is a thumb that’s thought to belong to a male?
Where is Harry Drysdale and does the thumb belong to him?
If Harry has been murdered, who’s the killer and why?
What really happens upstairs at the Buxom Club?

All will be revealed as you laugh at the craziness and quick wit of Ella and the rest of the colourful characters, who’ll kee

Based around a pudding club and two ‘gentlemen’ with a penchant for larger ladies, this book dishes up a good helping of murder mystery with a generous serving of humour on the side.

Ella Fitzwilliams jumps at the chance to help her good friend, Val, in setting up the surgeon who has repeatedly got away with extremely inappropriate behaviour towards his patients, and avoided charges for indecent assault. Even better, they get to target his lawyer as well; the one who has got him off on all charg

I gave this book a 4 star rating only because it seemed to jump around just a bit too much for my taste. With that said, don't let that keep you from reading this book. Once I settled into the story I was totally hooked.

I love Ella. I have known two people with the same mental issues and I was hoping that everything would end up well for her as it did for my friends.

Having been a larger woman all of my life, plus size or queen size according to the fashion industry or in other words, I'm not a

This was for me a little difficult to follow at first as it kept changing between dates. It handled the touchy subject of bi-polar and mental health very well and made me more aware of the how people with this mental health problem are prone to highs and lows. I did think the ending could have been more beefy but overall a quick easy read.
