Six months until my new life was going to start.
It was going to be amazing. Dramatic. Perfect.
But sh*t happens, and to me, it happened all at once.
You can’t make this stuff up or read it in a book.

Two bags, a one-way ticket and a promise to a dying woman.
I didn’t need anything or anyone else in my life.
I left it all behind.
It was either sold, thrown away or abandoned.

When Aspen’s heart is broken, the first person she wanted to talk to was her grandmother. Her grandmother tells her to reach for a journal of her life before she fell in love. She tells the story of how her heart had once bee

.5-Stars for Southbound, I unconsciously lean toward favorite authors but Ellie Danes certainly deserves the 4.5-Stars with this sweet, entertaining, quick read. Aspen starts out on one journey only to be entwined into a whole other journey with Gage. As the saying goes it will happen when your not looking or least expect it; Aspen & Gage meet as Aspen is on her own personal journey for closure after losing her grandmother. During her journey Aspen ends up needing to lean on the ever conside ...more

Southbound by Ellie Danes is another story that is touching, captivating and a page turner. The storyline is simplistic but is beautiful and heartwarming. The characters are endearing and charming. It is well written and a sweet romance story where the characters will find their way into your heart. Ellie’s vivid descriptions of Key West makes the story pop off the page and makes it easy for the reader to see each and every sight, sound and history. There is a little drama, a lot of self discove ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This story is a very entertaining and heartwarming romance in the traditional style. It is the story of two slightly broken people meeting completely by chance as each is trying to find their way. The writing is smart and flows well. The storyline is fairly simple but heartfelt and engaging. The characters are endearing and charming. And the author does a wonderful job in bringing the romance of the Key West area to life (both past times and present day) - I felt ...more

I enjoyed reading this one. There were a couple of sad moments in this one. But a very interesting storyline. Aspen is trying to finish school and take care of her grandmother. She goes to surprise her boyfriend but instead gets her own surprise. Than shortly later she suffers a huge lose in her life. She decides to go to Key West to do what her grandmother asked her to do. While on the flight she meets handsome sexy Gage. He knows Key West like the back of his hand and offers to help Aspen if s ...more

This was such a heart touching, cute and enjoyable love story. Its a short kind of second chance romance.

Aspen makes a promise to her grandmother, the one family she's got. After a heartbreak and losing her grandma, she stops everything in her life to travel and complete her promise. But upon starting out her adventure she meets Gage. Unknown to her, she has no idea how her world is about to shift.

This is a well written sweet romance featuring an independent young woman on a pilgrimage to honour her deceased grandmother’s wishes and the handsome stranger who comes to her aid when she needs it most. I enjoyed this couple’s effortless journey into romance despite their past relationship woes. I felt at times that I had joined a tour group as the two wandered throughout Key West visiting many historical sites and landmarks following Aspen’s grandmother’s journey of years past. The story is a ...more

I enjoyed all the feels Southbound gave me as well as the charming small town setting. Both Aspen and Gage each have a few scars from their pasts but when they meet there's an instant connection neither could deny. Though finding love is the last thing on Aspen's mind when she sets out to honor a promise life throws her a bit of a curveball in the form of Gage. I loved the history woven throughout this story and seeing Key West through both the eyes of Gage who loved it and Aspen who was seeing ...more

Aspen and her grandmother were very close always sharing their lives with each other the good and the bad. Her grandmother made her promise to travel while she was still young and to take her ashes and unite them with her grandfather in Key West. It was a promise that came at a down time in her life because she lost a lot including the betrayal of her ex. all within a short period of time. Heading to Key West she runs into Gage a man she meets at the air port and together they go on a journey of ...more

Another great book by Ellie!

Aspen is out to fulfill her grandmother's wishes, on her way the Key's she meets Gage. Gage is nice, handsome, and easy on the easy but all Aspen is thinking about is finding the spot she is looking for that her grandmother only left clues about that are years old.

Gage is returning from a business trip and is intrigued by Aspen but doesnt know why. After convincing her to let him help her, he shows her around his beloved city and starts to hope she will stay.

A cheating boyfriend, a close family member dies, a stranger who helps you, and so much more. This was a good easy read with great characters. Aspen wants to surprise her boyfriend only to find him cheating on her. She meets Gage on the plane to Key West and he helps her find the location her grandparents met so she can spread her grandmother's ashes.

This was my first book by Ellie Danes and I enjoyed it! It has all the things needed for a romantic story, betrayal, loss, a jerk of an ex and of course, the sweet, handsome billionaire swooping in to save the day. Both come with their own baggage but together, can they achieve a happy ever after? Read it and find out :)

When Aspens life gets turned upside down she sets off to Key West on an adventure hoping for once in her life she finds some good luck.
She bumps into Gage and starts having lots of chance encounters with him.
Is destiny setting them up or is it coincidence?
One click Southbound to find out.
It's a good storyline with great characters that will have you invested in their journey.

This was a sweet story with some smalltown feels. Aspen and Gage have both been through some rough times, and neither was feeling ready for any complications. I enjoyed this heartwarming story, and loved Grandma to bits.
