Don't worry, you'll have time to breathe at the end! From the first word I was drawn into a vortex of action and tension! This did not abate until the last word was read. Whew, what a ride! Kudos Mr. Smith!”

Update now that I've finished the book: I loved the first three books. It told a great story, was surprising and inventive like I've come to expect from the author, and had characters I easily cared about.

But then after finishing book three, I expected the next book to continue the story (though the end of three wrapped things up well). So I was disappointed to find out Savage was a short story/novella from Samuel's pov. It was fine, just not what I wanted at the time. And since it was a prequel, it didn't really have any surprises, just elaborated on stuff we already knew had happened. I wasn't in the mood for it and considered just stopping reading it.

I'm glad I stuck with it though, because after Savage, there was another short story, called Blue Arrow. This one is from Rose's pov and I absolutely loved it. It's so focused on the human relationship aspect of the consequences of what happened to Peter in the jungle. It was a joy to read and actually made me cry - twice!

Halfway review:
I've been really enjoying this series so far and I'm a little bit into book two and just reached this "holy shit" moment where I realized the direction this is headed and I'm so excited to see how this plays out!! And honestly, it's something that I probably could have figured out in book one, I'm just a little slow on the uptake 😆

Totally immersive

I’d enjoyed the first novel “Diffusion“ as an Amazon freebie, so jumped at the chance of getting the boxed set for £0.99. I think the writer must have had a lot of fun creating this book. Totally immersive and with no unexplained loose ends.

Thrilling, fast read

Although this set is organized a certain way, in the Foreword the author helpfully recommends a different order to read the books. I figured, well he should know! And I do think that the order he suggests was superior for reading enjoyment.
That being said the books have it all: mystery, adventure, a different spin on alien First Contact, a near apocalypse. Some of the characters are written simply, but hey they're teenagers (no offense to any Young Adults out there!). I would have loved to see more in-depth adult and Papuan characters. In the first book there's a some of a quasi-Papuan dialect. After a few times referring to the Guide I decided to guess what the Papuan dialect was by the English replies so as to not slow down my pace. Worked out just fine.
By the end of the third book I got the distinct impression there could be another book, and that's great to me! A definite recommendation to my fellow genre lovers!
PS No dirty language, no sex, some violence.

Get this box set

This is the most exciting series of books that I have read in a long time! The short story Savage started it off for me and will explain and be very intriguing for you.
It starts off I believe in 1848 I hope I got that right? When an explorer meets a long lost tribe in the dense jungle. (I suppose anything in the dense jungle is pretty lost?) There is an ancient healing technology, but it is much more than healing it comes from way back Way Way back.
I'll try not to give too much away here but the years go by in each of these books and tell us the folks who have come in contact with this tribe and this technology.
This technology that is destined to be taken into the modern times but also has power to do more than just heal and is quite dangerous with human emotions such as greed.
These are awesome books that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Thrilling Adventure

I want to thank Stan Smith for creating a wondrous world I could lose myself in. It was thrilling, frightening, joyful and awe-inspiring. The characters were well thought out and I loved them. The locations were amazing, and I enjoyed learning about the history and culture of other lands and people. The description of jungle life was chilling. I was glad to only see one of two grammatical errors, as it made reading so much more pleasant for me. I am glad I followed His suggestion to read the books in the following order: DIFFUSION, INFUSION, SAVAGE, BLUE ARROW, and then PROFUSION, as it made understanding clearer for me. I love his style of writing, and have already downloaded the Bridger series.

Wow! What a ride!

The Diffusion Box Set was on special offer, so after reading a few pages to test the prose style I decided to chance it. What a brilliant epic piece of work it is too. Twists and turns all over the place and, best of all, at the risk of stating the obvious, it evolves.

Simply stating, in three words, I loved it. I could go on, writing about depth of characters and detailed historical and natural actuality’s, but I would be here all day and I’m not writing a book, simply reviewing.

Stan Smith (Readers take note of his name) thank you for entertaining me greatly and rest assured I will be signing up for your other series’s, at full price too!

Fantastic series

Stan's writing is an immersive pleasure. You really can see his characters & landscapes in your minds eye. It also makes you consider things - can mankind eventually leave wars & conflicts behind & become a truly compassionate society, leaving no one behind? Once we realise we all have the same needs will racism finally die? I know it sounds like this series is a bit heavy but trust me it's not. So treat yourself to a damn good read

Mind Blowing Revolation

This should be read by everyone. I once believed that if I had the ability to change things for the better I would. The books make you realize just how ignorant we really are. For ever action is a reaction not always acceptable.

Refreshing

I am very glad that I got this collection. It is hard to put into one category. It is part adventure, part first contact and thoroughly enjoyable for those who love all places wild in the natural world. It is much more than the blurbs could say. What an adventure.

Very imaginative

This was really an interesting variation on a science fiction story. It sucked me in from the very beginning and kept me guessing where it was going even to the ending. The end was a little abrupt for me but I see now that it is leading to a spin off series.

Great Adventure with anthropological focus.

I’ve read several of Stan Smith’s series and have found the most original and fascinating ideas I’ve encountered in many years of reading science fiction. All highly recommended.

While it has its adventure moments, this is an exploration of alien worlds that has much to say on diversity, ethnicity and other themes. Lots of original ideas floating around in these books.

Slow start but made up for it with a great original idea and awesome storytelling. The central driver in the stories is unique, to say the least. The author crafted a fun and very readable set of books.
