Are cats clever? Are cats predators? How do cats exercise? The science of cats is interesting and surprising. The kid cat lover will find this guide, Cat Science Unleashed, very educational and interactive.

Did you know that not all cats like catnip? Catnip or nepetalactose is a mosquito repellent and scientists aren’t quite sure of a cats attraction to it, but they suspect it acts like a pheromone. Is your cat a predator? In this guide you can put your cat to the test by trying one of may experiments found here. A cat has six sense organs such as a nose, whiskers, ears, eyes, tongue, vomeronasal organ, and leg vibrissae. These senses help cats identify familiar experiences.

The science of cats guide has information regarding fitness, senses, predatory tendencies and cleverness. There are safety guidelines for parents and children. Colorful photos of cats and their owners who share their stories can be found within these pages. Readers can also learn about cat territories within a home. Parents and teachers will enjoy sharing this guide which covers everything you’ve ever wanted to know about these furry felines.

What a wonderful book this is, not just for kids but for adults, too, who have cats and, even if you don't, it provides tons of information on how to deal with them, play with them and care for them if you or a family member is planning on getting one. The illustrations are so colorful and beautiful! There are four sections, including how to keep your feline fit, sensational senses, purrfect predators and clever kitties. They are all wonderful and have lots to teach cat lovers whether you have a cat now or not. In the back is a great glossary and also a discovery page which gives more information on cats via other books and places to go online. I borrowed this book from the library but will probably purchase my own copy.

A little disappointed flipping through the book seeing paw prints with claws that are supposed to be cat paw prints. Cats have retractable claws and do not present their claws when walking. It seems a little off-kilter for a book that's only about cats..or maybe I really am becoming a crazy cat lady. Either way...Science..
