Rate this book
Algebra II Essentials For Dummies (9781119590873) was previously published as Algebra II Essentials For Dummies (9780470618400). While this version features a new Dummies cover and design, the content is the same as the prior release and should not be considered a new or updated product. Passing grades in two years of algebra courses are required for high school graduation. Algebra II Essentials For Dummies covers key ideas from typical second-year Algebra coursework to help students get up to speed. Free of ramp-up material, Algebra II Essentials For Dummies sticks to the point, with content focused on key topics only. It provides discrete explanations of critical concepts taught in a typical Algebra II course, from polynomials, conics, and systems of equations to rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. This guide is also a perfect reference for parents who need to review critical algebra concepts as they help students with homework assignments, as well as for adult learners headed back into the classroom who just need a refresher of the core concepts. The book is overall quite informative for those who need a quick review of a-abit-above-basic Algebra. One thing I would criticize is that there are very few problems for each topic. Knowing the concepts is great, yes, but being able to put them into practice is even greater. I know this is not an Algebra workbook, but I think including solutions to a few problems of each chapter wouldn't be too difficult.

I want to get a lot better at math so I decided to read Algebra II essentials for dummies. I have a long way to go to be able to understand math.

I like the explanations and examples of the math concepts in the book. I think I learned a lot that I did not know about before. I sure wish I had worked harder on math when I was in school so I would not have had to try so hard to learn it now.

If you want to learn about algebra II I think you might like this book.

This serves as a companion, reference guide for Sterling's 2019 large-volume Algebra II for Dummies book. It follows the same outline and the same techniques but lacks the thorough explanations and practice problems. The concepts are similar to the 2022 version but lacks the final chapters on matrices.
Would be good for someone reviewing for a test or someone who hasn't taken an organized math course in a few years but understood what was there.

Still with the cringe "jokes," but there are a lot fewer than in the first book.
Is shorter but to the point, but still misses a few explanations and graphics.
The last part about the formulas is rushed.
