I was the devil. The worst kind of man for her.
I knew the truth would make her hate me. But, I still wanted her to be mine.
My goddess.
Damn, I’d never wanted a woman the way I wanted her.
One simple kiss could scorch my mind clean of everything I knew. That was what she did to me. She took me out of the real world, where I was a mobster and she was a cop.

I was the imposter who lied to her…

Her father gave me a task: marry his daughter and get everything.
Marry the daughter of the mafia king and get everything. The whole billion-dollar fortune.
Greed made me say yes, and love blinded me to the danger we were in.

The web of lies I got myself tangled in was the least of my worries because her life was in danger.
She had a target on her back.
Blood for blood, that’s the worst kind of mark you can get in my world.
It means death. Someone has to die…

I may be the devil and the worst kind of guy for this angel of a woman, but I’ll die trying to save her.

Continuing on with the story of Amelia and Luc - another quick listen and the 2nd part of what looks to be a trilogy ~ this one ended on a cliffhanger as well!!! I really am loving these narrators and this mafia book. FYI there is barely any actual mafia world in it. It is more of a girl who left her mafia family, became a cop and the story of her adult life and how it is brought back full circle to the man she falls in love with - not a real mafia gore type thing. More of a thriller - which I am totally enjoying!!!!

SINFULLY DELICIOUS!!!
OMG! Talk about riding reckless. If you like living on the edge with a plethora of events, emotions and intense cravings, congrats my friends you've found it. Twisted, twinned and put through the wringer as you watch totally frozen to your seat, holding your breath waiting for the other shoe to drop. Drop it did. One action packed, hard hitting, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning dynamo that demands your undivided attention and you follow willingly. All the drama, uncertainty, fear, danger and suspense builds as tension spirals bringing this bad boy roaring to life beautifully. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few hitches, bumps and bruises that rock this read with every word. Following the characters along witnessing their personalities transform and blend. The characters were so realistic, intriguing and complex with a undeniable connection between the two main characters. Talk about off the charts chemistry so intense it's palpable. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Khardine didn't skip a beat bringing this bad boy together perfectly. Remarkable job Khardine, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

This is the 2nd part of the Accidental Mafia Queen series and it picks up right after the ending of book 1. The Chicago Mafia is run by Amelia’s father and he has allowed his daughter to leave years ago over a disagreement but has always had her insight and protected. An old enemy has found about Ameila and has sent some pretty sickening people after her! Luc the next to become the Boss is tasked with bringing Amelia home to Chicago from LA. They meet, fall in love and fight to get back together after Amelia is taken! We get to read about the history of each Luc and Claudius’s childhood, the events that lead to Amelia’s mother death that forced her to run away all those years ago and how Victor is known to be the extremely cruel man he is! I enjoyed the time Amelia spends with her father knowing is will not last long. This story ends with us finding out who the leak is from Amelia’s team on the police force in LA! I look forward to reading the last part of this story!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

My feelings:

I grabbed book 1 on stuff your kindle day and loved it so much I grabbed the next 2 to finish the series off.

“The gardener and the dancer.” Her smile widened. I pressed my forehead to hers, loving the sound of that.

Luc is so swoon worthy! Why are all the damsels so against having a mobster look after them? I mean seriously I dream a huge ripped mafia boss games and saves me from my mundane life! Hahaha

Falling for someone is different than finding true love. That’s the mistake people make sometimes. Feelings are always real. What matters is whether they can last. Forever.”

Will there be serious on Luc brother? I need one! He is def swoon worthy within its self!

“Well, it looks like you can. Luc doesn’t want to lead the business, and you’re too sick. So, I’m taking charge.” Holy fuck.

Highly Recommend.

This is the second installment in this series and it continues where the first left off. Amelia knows about Luc now and doesn't know what she wants to do there. Luc disappears before they could really talk. She still has a threat to her and doesn't feel safe at the police station because she doesn't know who she can trust there. With all of this going on she's trying to get a handle on her dad being so sick. Will she be able to forgive Luc?

There are many twists and turns to this story that keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.

It was nice to acknowledge her by her real name. It felt right. She was Amelia Rossi. The beautiful goddess that had captured my heart. Captured me and tamed a man like me who’d been a formidable force to be reckoned with.
She brought out a side of me that I never knew existed.

What a great continuation to this series! It had all the elements I loved about Mafia Boss, except everything was more amped up and the stakes were higher. Amelia now knows the truth about Luc. The last book ended with him leaving to go hunt down the people who were after her. It's been three weeks and she hasn't seen him since and is starting to wonder if she ever will again.

But of course he comes back, and they return to Chicago where Amelia sees her dad for the first time in almost eleven years. And what follows is a whirlwind of revelations and twists. So many secrets come to light, histories full of lies and betrayals, and Amelia is forced to reevaluate everything she believed about her life.

“Luc, can I speak to you in private?” she asked.
Hell yes, she could do whatever she wanted to me. In private and in public. I didn’t give a fuck, just as long as she never stopped touching me.

When compared with the first book, Mafia Scars was much more action-packed and focused on the plot, so the romance took a bit of a backseat. But what we did get was as sweet as ever. Luc and Amelia's love is even stronger in this one, and I liked seeing how their dynamic has changed now that there are no secrets between them. Luc is still the best. He's as charming and funny as he was in book one, and so sweet and devoted and protective. I can't say enough good things about him. And something I forgot to mention before; he cooks too. So he's basically the perfect man. We did get a flashback that made me seriously judge past Luc, but present Luc still has my heart.

“You are trouble …” I used to say Detective, but he wasn’t a detective, never had been. He looked at me with expectancy, probably thinking I’d recoil from my memories. But no, I wasn’t losing heart or faltering. For him I was falling, falling deeper than I had control. “You’re trouble, Lucian Morientz.”

I was bothered by something Amelia did at the beginning of the book, and bothered by the timing of it. But I'm not gonna hold it against her. It was just one tiny moment next to everything else she does. And I have to say, she was a total badass in this book. I loved how she took charge of the situation. And I loved her reunion with her father. It made me really emotional. I was glad she could find it in her heart to forgive him. And knowing that they wasted the last decade being apart, it makes me sad knowing they don't have much time left together.

There was actually a pretty strong focus on family here, and I really enjoyed that aspect. Not only on Amelia and her dad and them dealing with all their issues from the past and working towards repairing their relationship, but also Luc with his family. Luc learns some things about his mom that he didn't know and begins to understand his dad better.

And we got a lot more Claudius, who I absolutely adored. He's so different from Luc but also similar in a way. He's the older brother but he's much more carefree than Luc is, or at least that's the facade he puts on. I would love to know more about him and would absolutely read a book or series about him in a heartbeat. On that note, I also wouldn't mind a little story about Maurice and Gigi. They're both side characters that I've loved so far and I think a story about them would be really fun.

It was really nice getting to know all of these characters better. Amelia's father, Raphael, was definitely a character I wasn't expecting to like as much as I did. There's something really funny about the way he treats Luc and Amelia's relationship. Despite the fact that he's the one who pushed them together, he can't help being an overprotective dad where they're concerned. It was great to get some comic relief from these lighter moments once in a while because some of the things that happened in this book were heartbreaking and horrifying. One of the villains is truly vile. Pure evil. Every time he spoke, what came out of his mouth made me feel like gagging.

I have one more little complaint (not even really a complain, just something that confused me) and it's about something that happened towards the beginning. I mean, I get that it had to happen this way or the story would have been over much sooner, but I just couldn't wrap my head around it. It would've been so easy.

The cliffhanger was a tad underwhelming. But of course I am still very much looking forward to reading the conclusion to see how it all turns out.

Slightly better than the first with more action, revelations, traitors coming from places you really don't expect!

But there's still something missing. I can't put my finger on it but there's an element tgats missing that's not allowing the story to mix seamlessly. It shows in the excitement of the story - on the actual words and feel, not the reading...if that makes sense! I see it when talk of them leaving the lifestyle behind them comes up...it seems not 100% convincing...

Not sure if I make sense here but it's an ok read. Not too heavy, the storyline isn't too complicated to follow and it's easy to put down and pick up the next night!

This is a new author to me and I read this series on Kindle Unlimited. I would give the whole series 3.5.

Whilst I enjoyed the story and the love between the couple, I would have loved to see Amelia taken on her role as the so called "Mafia Queen". She did not act like a Mafia Queen not even a reluctant one. There was not enough action for a mafia story. It was romantic but I do not think the content was strong enough to be spread over 3 books. Just my personal opinion. I hated Sinclair and his role in Amelia life. Worth a read.

Not as exciting or exhilarating as the first book, but it was good background on Amelia and Luc’s pasts. Too much repetitive musings throughout. I picked it up and put it down several times. On to book 3.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- MAFIA SCARS is the second instalment in Khardine Gray’s contemporary, adult THE ACCIDENTAL MAFIA QUEEN mafia, erotic, romance trilogy focusing on twenty-eight year old, LAPD Detective Amelia ‘Taylor’ Rossi, and thirty-five year old, Rossi Family mobster Lucian ‘Smith’ Morientz. MAFIA SCARS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately following the events of book one MAFIA BOSS.

SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately eleven years earlier Amelia Rossi ran from Chicago after discovering the truth about her father Don Raphael Rossi. Now a dedicated police detective with the LAPD Amelia will come face to face with her future in the guise of Luc Smith aka Lucian Morientz, the new heir to her father’s crime family, and the man sent to bring the prodigal daughter, back home.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Luc and Amelia) MAFIA SCARS continues to follow the building relationship and romance between twenty-eight year old, LAPD Detective Amelia ‘Taylor’ Rossi, and thirty-five year old, Rossi Family mobster Lucian ‘Smith’ Morientz. Having discovered Luc’s real identity, and his connection to her father, Amelia finds herself battling between head and heart knowing her own life is about to spiral out of control. With a rat in the department, Amelia’s life hangs in the balance but our heroine is determined to remain on the force regardless of the possibility that someone has placed a target on her back. Unaware of the true nature of the threats against her life. Amelia is oblivious to the men assigned to protect her from harm. What ensues is Amelia’s struggle to remain separate from the business back home, and Lucian’s need to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love.

MAFIA SCARS focuses on the threats to our story line heroine: some of the background history and events leading to the present day, as well as the family connections to everyone involved. The relationship between Luc and Amelia takes a bit of hit but neither one can imagine life without the other. The premise is engaging and captivating: the romance is hot and heavy; the characters are numerous and energetic as the past comes full circle in its’ need for revenge. MAFIA SCARS is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance; family, blood and forgiveness.

In the second book in this series we finally get some truths about what happened and what is really going on. It's honestly heartbreaking. Though a little strange for a mafia family as well. You'd think there'd be a little loyalty but alas there definitely was not. This book picks up where the first one left off with Amelia trying to reconcile the fact that the man that she loves is in a career that forced her to leave her father and everything she'd loved behind. Of course Luc couldn't stay away and they end up reuniting. They still have a problem on the hands in the name of Victor to figure out though. We get a lot of flashbacks in this book from both characters. We find out what happens when Amelia was younger that made her leave and how it exactly played out. Also we get a little peak into single Luke. As things escalate in Cali we jump to Chicago where everything began. We know there is a rat in Cali and then we begin to slowly realize that there is also a rat in Chicago. I'll give my ideas on who I think it is a little later. Even though at this point I feel like I'm 1000% sure who the rat is in Chicago, we get to see who the rat is from Cali! This one wasn't really a surprise....more like an oh. Though I will say I feel like something is off with one of the people who was not revealed as the rat. I have so many questions.

The spice in this book was nice! Luke and Amelia definitely steam up the pages with not only their love for one another but their passion. I give this one a 4 out of 5 on the spice scale. Overall I give this book a 4 out of 5 as well. I was very interested in solving the mystery and once we got more backstory for both characters it made things make sense. Of course as more things get answered we still have a few things that need answers or confirmation. So I'm going to spill who I think is the rat in Chicago. If you don't want to know then just know that I recommend this series still and I am looking forward to the conclusion in the next book. So, who do I think is the culprit. Milliken. I thought it was her from the time that she revealed some things to Amelia that she shouldn't have known. The fact that Amelia...the cop, didn't find this suspicious was crazy. She knows that her father feels like someone in the house was listening to their conversation and the fact that she didn't even attempt to look into that is wild. As a cop you'd think she'd ask for the house to be swept for bugs or to make sure their conversations were private. Multiple times Millicent walked in on them talking about things that would then be revealed was leaked. Then the final chapter sealed everything for me. When she had the "sweat" on her lips while someone was breaking into the vault was so guilty!! What I haven't fully figured out is the reasoning behind her doing this. Has she always been this way or did she only turn once Amelia's mother died. Or is this something more to this situation than I just haven't pieced together yet. I don't know but I can't wait to find out!

Wow! Khardine Gray really amps things up in this second installment of her Accidental Mafia Queen Series. While the first book captured my interest, this second one held on and left me wanting more!
This one picks right up where the first book leaves off, so if you haven't read book one, stop now and go read that one first.

Amelia is left reeling after discovering the truth about Luc, but she knows that she can no longer deny how she feels about him. She doesn't know who to trust in her department because of the secret informant, and she is also dealing with the knowledge that her father is dying. Once Luc makes a reappearance in Amelia's life, the tension and action in the story skyrockets and keeps you right on the edge of your seat. Even when the story's action slows, there is always the underlying danger right there- waiting...

I loved how this story managed to be both fast and nerve-wracking, and slow and sweet. There were some very tender scenes between Luc and Amelia- days where they spent time just being "normal" and revealing their true selves to each other. Their characters keep getting deeper, and I really enjoyed actually getting to see inside each of them. There were a few scenes between Amelia and her father Rafael that had me actually tearing up! My one issue is that the main villain Victor is written as so over-the-top evil that he appears to be a bit out of place.

Be advised... this one also ends on a wicked cliffhanger. I can't wait to see how this story will end!
I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

It was ok. I think I was generous with rating book 1.
Book 2, I’m feeling stingy.
The story continues and there are some new developments but again it’s so slow. You finally find out who the police rats are and I suspect Millicent, the good ol’ housekeeper is one too. Not confirmed yet but pretty sure that’s what was being alluded.
I didn’t like that the author makes it seem like Amelia can dance on pointe without physical pain or problem after over 10years. But sure, whatever. And Amelia’s descriptions of Maurice and her supposed best friend as “annoying” was distasteful.
I didn’t like the Saw rip-off of this Victor character and what he did to Luc’s best friend and family.
Didn’t like these supposed worth billions of dollars diamonds.
The reference by these characters to call themselves “mobsters” got more irritating.
There was just more that took me out of the story this time. It happened during the first book, but I liked Luc and Amelia together so much I tried to ignore. This time, I still like them it’s just the angst I expected didn’t really happen, and then it was just a repeat of the same. Oh and pretty sure Amelia will find out she’s pregnant soon (when you read the whole mall, almost-kidnapping scene).
And there were more typos this time.
I’ll finish the last book since I got it free too, and I hope it won’t be disappointing. Let’s move it along.

Oh Ms. Gray... How could you leave us hanging like this? Only kidding. Ms. Khardine Gray has absolutely nailed the angst, drama and intrigue of a Mafia romance. My goodness, the creation of this series is something you seek when looking for a superb storyline with the characters to match and if I was able to; I'd pat her on the back and then beg her to keep writing. Lol. I do not want to give away any part of the plot, however, I can ABSOLUTELY guarantee nothing but the best heartpounding goodness is inside this incredible installment to this series. Captivating book right here. Amelia has not only been found but is threatened. If you love raw emotions, chemistry, heartpounding action, twists and turns that will keep you completely enthralled then you will find it right here. Ms. Gray is at the top of her craft with this impressive release. Follow along as Luc and Amelia as well as the 'Family' in Chicago blow you away.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Mafia Scars in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book as well as the entire Series. I can not wait to see what is next for this series and to read just how it will play out.

Luc and Amelia's story continues in book two, which still maintains the high level of suspense but unfortunately fails to keep up the fast pacing. At times, it all feels a bit slow and dragged out—some scenes seem unnecessary. If you count down the major events, there's really not that much happening. I really hate it when a large portion of a book is composed of fillers.

The main characters are still interesting, though, and their relationship makes this book worth reading. I appreciate that we get some flashbacks and learn more about their pasts, which also allows these two to bond outside of the bedroom (although the steamy bonding continues as well).

The cliffhanger failed to excite me as much as the one in the first book because it was very predictable. It would have been more shocking if the characters who turned out to be rats were closer to my heart as a reader—instead, I found myself not really caring.

I really find myself loving Claudius more and more, too. It's clear now that he's the 'bad' brother while Luc is supposed to be the tamer one.

Despite liking this book a little less than the first one, I still enjoyed the audiobook and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all wraps up.

My rating: 3.75/5

Oh my gawsh … the cliffhanger gets me every time! Very glad to move straight to book 3!!

I don’t trust anyone, everyone looks sketchy and Victor is terrifying. Sinclaire looks suspicious too.

Amelia and Lucian are hot and sexy, love them. Exposure to their past trauma and troubles gives the insight to understand them now.

“Not hate.”
“I’m not real sure if that’s a good or bad thing, doll. Means I’m just a little bit better than scum. Tolerable even, like a dog with mange.”
I couldn’t believe it. I started to laugh. “A dog with mange? Why would you even say that?”
“Because you love the pet but can’t stand the sight of it because of the way it looks. You may not love me like you would a pet, but I’m guessing you’ll tolerate the sight of me, even for great sex.”

“Somehow, our already crazy frenzy turned up a notch and became something else. Madness took over, along with something primal and raw. We’d become slaves to passion, slaves to sex and our need for each other.”

The action never stops!!

Just a quick note: This is book two in this mafia romance series, please be sure to read Mafia Boss before reading this book. This series will conclude with book three, Mafia Love, which I am looking forward to reading.

Once their secrets and lies have come to light Luc and Amelia must decide where to go from there. Amelia knows she cares deeply for Luc, but is it enough to keep them together. Lux knows he must give Amelia space after everything she has learned, but he also knows he can't live without her. Is he willing to give it all up for Amelia? Will Amelia accept Luc for who and what he is?

While contemplating all of this, someone is still out to kidnap Amelia because her father has something they really want and they plan on using Amelia to get it. Luc goes not to let that happen, but with snitches on both sides it hard to know who to trust. Since this is book two in the series it does end on quite the cliffhanger. I'm definitely enjoying reading this series and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good mafia romance.

The secrets are out, the stakes are higher, and Amelia and Luc are deep in the mess now. This second book takes everything you loved about the first—betrayal, passion, and danger—and dials it all the way up.

Amelia knows the truth about Luc now. He’s not just her partner—he’s the heir to a mafia empire, sent to bring her home. After everything, she should want nothing to do with him. But love isn’t that simple, and neither is escaping the world she tried so hard to leave behind. With threats closing in, family betrayals unraveling, and feelings she can’t outrun, Amelia has to decide if she can trust the man who was sent to deceive her.

Luc, on the other hand? He’s done pretending. Amelia is his, and he’ll burn down the world before he lets anyone take her away. But with enemies lurking in every shadow, protecting her might not be so easy.

This book is pure tension—action-packed, emotionally gripping, and full of twists that’ll keep you flipping pages way too late at night. And with one more book to go? You know it’s only going to get crazier from here.

I could not believe it when this second book also ended in a cliffhanger! There was plenty of excitement along the way: can you believe Luc's brother Claudius saving Amelia from the psycho Victor Pertrinkov on the back of his new motorcycle, through the mall, city streets, and jumps over the side of one highway, 10 feet down to another and landed it-the cycle not coming apart? We find out the complete story of what happened when her mother died and under what circumstances Luc thought he'd already killed Pertrinkov! But as Luc and Amelia reunite, they become more and more the gardener and the dancer in true deep love. Amelia goes on leave from cop duties to return to her dying father and we find out who her enemies were in the precinct! But there are betrayers in Chicago, also. I read an Advance Reviewer Copy and volunteered this five star review.

“Mafia Scars” is the second installment in this trilogy and continues to keep me on the edge of my seat. This fast-paced, addictive page turner kept me captive until the final page. Amelia and Luc's relationship continues even after she discovers Luc is not a detective but part of her father's Mafia. Kharine sends us on an amazing roller-coaster ride of intrigue and suspense. There are so many twist and turns with Amelia's father on death's door, a rat in the police department, Victor still trying to kidnap Amelia and Sinclair turning into quite a jerk and more. “Mafia Scar” leaves us with another cliff hanger and I'm on pins and needles waiting for the last installment. I love this second part and the third can't come soon enough.

This series continues with a great second book.

Amelia and Luc continue developing their relationship into so much more through the lies, their past, future and family history.

However, a mutual enemy is Victor!! He is one evil, sick bad guy of the worst possible way!! But Victor has orders to bring Amelia back to Chicago "unharmed", will he accomplish his goal? Or will Luc get to her in time?

As the story continues, Luc and Amelia discover there is a mole in the police department and someone close to Raphael is a rat and sharing important information with their enemies!! I think it's the nanny who is the rat!!! I can't wait for the next book to find out the answers and missing pieces!! This story grabs you and doesn't let you go!!! A definite must read!! I received an ARC of this book from the author.

Heart wrenchingly emotional, filled with hope for resolution

Mafia Scars by Khardine Gray is an exceptionally well written book. The second in this series, continues Amelia and Luc’s story. While highly emotional, there’s also pulse pounding suspense and the urgency of danger.
I love how this author is pulling the plot, mystery and suspense together, giving the reader just enough detail to keep you on the edge of your seat and clamoring for more. Additionally, Luc and Amelia are dynamite together and each encounter is combustible, almost magical. They clearly have a deep connection.
Overall an enthralling installment of this series that will ensure the reader is hooked and ready for their eventual HEA.
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

This is the second book in this wonderful series and it was just as great as the first book Mafia Boss which isn't always true of series

This is the continuation of Luc and Amelia's story She now knows that he is tied to her father and wh he is but she still wants him and is willing to return to Chicago to visit her dying father. Meanwhile danger is stalking her and will Luc be able to keep her safe they still don't know who the police department mole is and Raphael's past is quickly catching up with him. This is another emotional rollercoaster that will have you reading until the early hours f the morning because once you start this book you won't want to put it down I am now hanging out eagerly for book three in this series

So we know how the first book went but this one...it told us how it all came to be. Why she left home and why she didn't want to fall I love and what she really wanted to do with her life. She final admits that she loves Luc but will they be able to see the outcome they want or will they lose the people that mean the world to them. So much insight was given but at the end we never see that coming. I know that the next book will give us some closure but to what end. This series is absolutely amazing. She gives us just enough to keep us hooked then bam...cliffhanger. Book 3 will be awesome. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

This is book two in this series and you need to read book one first. Also, prepare yourself for the cliffhanger ahead in preparation of book three. As the story continues everything intensifies. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the powerful emotions put your heart through a wringer. The twists and danger get sharper and more deadly as so many secrets are uncovered and the backstory is explored. Luc and Amelia's love continues to grow and evolve while increasing outside pressures seek to destroy it. Just excellent. Really need that next book now! I am posting an honest, voluntary review.

Both Luc and Amelia trying to overcome demons and losses from their respective pasts. Amelia trying to live with the loss of her mother and dancing and Luc the loss of his best friend and his family. Amelia working as a cop is joined by Luc as her new partner, not knowing that he has been sent by her estranged father. Some of the mobster scenes that were a little too graphic for me but the relationship developing between Luc and Amelia make this book well worth reading. Another cliff-hanger at the end of this one so looking forward to reading the final book in this series. Read an ARC for an honest review.

I have no words. The story flies along at a breakneck pace throwing out secrets and revelations as if they were Mardi Gras beads. There’s a lot of them, ladies and gentlemen. They’re all important and most of them have been kept hidden for decades. None of my pet theories after the first book came anywhere close to what we learn here. In the midst of all this chaos, Amelia and Luc have to come to terms with what they want out of their lives going forward; how to be good people when caught in a bad situation. I’m dying to see what the conclusion brings us.

Book 2 of the series and just as good as book 1. Amelia misses Luc but doesn't want to admit it out loud. She is a cop and he is the mobster so things could never work out or could they? He is trying to keep her safe, they have a rat in the police department and someone is trying to kidnap her to get back at her father. What does he have that is worth so much?? When her life is in danger Claudius steps up to help his brother out to save Amelia. So much going on that you just can't stop reading it until you're done. I think book 3 is going to be a really good one and I'm looking forward to it. Enjoy.
