There are whispers in the void; they herald the coming Void War. Eight millennia after splitting the atom, humanity’s children spread to the stars and diverged evolutionarily, a sentient species divided. The descendants of Terra must now face the consequences, a reckoning of their own creation.

At the Star City Hav’E’Na, home to a billion people, four of them will face thei

Although I'm a fan of the sci-fi genre, I wasn't a fan of sci-fi reading until this book. Spellbinding characters; a real "can't-put-it-down" page turner. The numerous subplots weave together in a fantastic array of action, unpredictable twists, and a cast that avoids the trite, hackeneyed dialogue and traits that make other books non-starters. Absolutely loved the various subtle parallels to things like Rumspringa amongst the subplot lines. Predictable this is not; every subplot had a surprisin ...more

If I enjoy a fiction book, I give it a 4, but reserve 5 for one that makes me think. This is a 5, that doesn't mean its cerebral, but it is well constructed, realistic characters, and consistent technology that seems to fit humanity 8,000 years into the future. (I get frustrated with SF books that are only 400 or 500 years in the future and earthlings have terraformed and densely populated multiple planets over 100's of light years apart.) It is a space battle themed book with well developed cha ...more

I found this book to be one that I did not want to put down. Each chapter left me wanting to keep going to find out what happens in the next. It is full of action and adventure. I especially liked how each chapter was written from the perspective of each of the main characters. It was done in such a way as to cleverly intermingle their stories and to give insight into the thoughts of those characters. The characters were well developed throughout the book and I found myself changing my opinion o ...more

No pictures, no problem! This well-written book provides the reader with descriptions and details of characters, space technology, and storyline that can easily be imagined. The personalities of the characters are those that we all can relate to, if we look within ourselves and others we know, and I love how they all become intertwined as you read further. Humor, mystery, romance, adventure, a desperate struggle, and an ending that leaves the reader to “want more,” this book has it all!

While I'm only 50% done with this book, I'm happy to start a review. This is one of those books that looks like the start of a great new series. I've read plenty of sci-fi series and what interests me is an interesting world and characters and this book has got plenty of both. Following along with the four main cast members in their different journies, gaining their personal perspective as their paths cross, and trying to figure out what's going on in the world have all been a lot of fun. The au ...more

*Obligatory Author Review*

Whispers in the Void, the first in my Descendants of Terra series, is the result of an immense amount of work. It started years ago as an idea, a project, started and stopped many times. But this year, I decided to make it a reality. I started calling it my thousand-hour project; it was a labor of love. I wasn't a writer, but I was someone with one hell of a story rattling around in his head that needed to be shared. So, I became a writer. I put in the work and leverage

Good tale

At first the different story lines were confusing, but the author skillfully weaved them into a great tale. Thanks to the author for sharing his exceptional writing skills with me. Looking forward to book 2

Wow! One of the better sci-fi books I’ve read lately. I enjoy sci-fi books (really all books) that are character driven with a well thought out plot. The book is well-paced and does a great job of integrating the science and tech not overwhelming the characters or story. As a result, it delivers a great read.
The story is told from the viewpoint of four different characters, two women and two men, from different cultures and backgrounds. These four characters/stories will come together at the end
