Alfie and Zadie have been best friends and neighbors since they were 6 years old. Zadie knew Alfie was the only one for her as soon as they pretended to get married in his backyard after watching Cinderella. Unbeknownst to Zadie, Alfie has loved Zadie just as long.
In the first book Alfie drops a bomb on Zadie, he’s getting married and he wants her to be his best man. Devastated and tired of the back in forth with Alfie, Zadie leaves New York to travel the world. This leaves Alfie devastated and lost.
Now in this second book, tragedy has struck and Zadie comes back home to support Alfie. She’s only going to stay in the country for two weeks before she leaves for good.
This was a really sweet series that would have benefited from being just one book instead of two. The story is well written and I actually liked the flashbacks that gives you more insight into the couples history. There’s no doubt that Alfie and Zadie were in love but I thought Zadie should have been stronger in the first book and that her character overacted to things that didn’t matter in the second.
Great first effort by this author, she has an engaging writing style that keeps you invested in both characters. I enjoyed that you could hear both Zadie and Alfie’s point of view in the past and present.
Look forward to reading more stories from this author.
