Alfie and Zadie have been best friends and neighbors since they were 6 years old. Zadie knew Alfie was the only one for her as soon as they pretended to get married in his backyard after watching Cinderella. Unbeknownst to Zadie, Alfie has loved Zadie just as long.

In the first book Alfie drops a bomb on Zadie, he’s getting married and he wants her to be his best man. Devastated and tired of the back in forth with Alfie, Zadie leaves New York to travel the world. This leaves Alfie devastated and lost.

Now in this second book, tragedy has struck and Zadie comes back home to support Alfie. She’s only going to stay in the country for two weeks before she leaves for good.

This was a really sweet series that would have benefited from being just one book instead of two. The story is well written and I actually liked the flashbacks that gives you more insight into the couples history. There’s no doubt that Alfie and Zadie were in love but I thought Zadie should have been stronger in the first book and that her character overacted to things that didn’t matter in the second.

Great first effort by this author, she has an engaging writing style that keeps you invested in both characters. I enjoyed that you could hear both Zadie and Alfie’s point of view in the past and present.

Look forward to reading more stories from this author.

A + Z= Happily ever after

Well Alfie and Zadie story concludes after all the doubt, second guessing, self imposed separation...and more importantly maturity....It's such a sweet story of two best friends growing through childhood.....teen years...young adults and possibly growing old together...I enjoyed the new Zadie...finally self assured and comfortable in her own skin....realizing that she is a beautiful woman who does not fit the typical slim....thin....blonde...flat...boyish....oh I could go on...figure that certain society only accepts as the beauty standard for women....I am glad Alfie loved her unconditionally....looking for to the next novel....Penny and Matthias...maybe

Sweet ending

I was really waiting on the follow up and it was worth the wait. It did drag a bit at the begging of this story but once it picked up, it explained a lot of why Alfie was the way he was. Zadie finally put her foot down.....sort she ran, which she did a lot. Once, they both came to some hard truths about their life long relationship, things fell in place. The ending was really sweet...nice story

Not as engaging as the first, but still nice.

I don’t think this book and the first in the series needed to be two separate books. There wasn’t much that needed to be resolved between Alfie and Zadie that warranted an entire second book, but the writing was lovely and I’m glad that this story was wrapped up nicely. It ended a bit abruptly but I still enjoyed. Looking forward to more from this author!
