Navy SEAL Denton Hamilton has checked himself into Hathaway House, hoping for a fraction of the results his friends have gotten at the rehab center. Now missing a rib, muscles and a portion of his stomach, as well as suffering from PTSD, Denton would be happy to have his physical self healed. He’s not so sure he’ll ever get his mental health back, and finding a woman who’ll have him now — as his friends have been lucky enough to do — is out of the question. Who would be willing to love a man like him?
Administrative Assistant Hannah Forsythe helps Dani run Hathaway House. A loner at heart, she’s drawn to Denton’s struggle and dismayed at his belief that no one could ever love him. But when an ill-advised observation she makes has unexpected consequences for Denton’s recovery, Hannah’s only choice is to separate herself from him to help him progress without her.
As time passes, Hannah wonders if her choice has cost her everything she’s ever wanted or whether Denton can work through his feelings to give them both their happy ending at Hathaway House.

Denton Hamilton is excited by his invitation to finish the rest of his rehab at Hathaway House. Not only are his two best buddies doing their own rehab there, but Denton knows what an incredible opportunity it is to receive treatment at a top facility with an excellent track record. His mind is fully on rehabilitation and not romance, but there's something special about the administrative assistant, Hannah Forsythe, that makes him want to get to know her better.
One thing is certain. When you’re an injured SEAL in a warm, friendly rehab facility with two of your best buddies, everyone will have an opinion, and not hesitate to share it, when you start a romantic relationship with one of the employees.
Hathaway House is a special place, where wounded warriors come to heal and an animal in need is never turned away. I fell in love with this series from the first book. Military veterans and rescue animals? Yep, sign me up. Each of these guys has his own story, and I love any book or series that reminds us of the amazing men and women who serve our country and the challenges they face returning to the civilian world. If either veterans or animals are your jam, check out this series and get to know these wonderful characters. Once you visit Hathaway House, you'll want to return there again and again.
*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
As other Hathaway House books, Denton deals with more emotional stuff, and actually none of the suspense. This series is more of a contemporary romance that deals with more serious matters.
Injuries, specially gained in the field of war, were devastating in that they ‘robbed’ extraordinary women and men their best physical abilities, as well as adding emotional injuries. Recovering from these two types of injuries are not easy feat, and self doubt almost always plague the healing process. Our heroine, Hannah, also had her own difficulties in connecting to people. However, here she found herself drawn to Denton, our hero. Their interaction and friendship was what made the story great. The ending on romance was felt a bit rushed though.
I was provided a complimentary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

Denton is the fourth book in Dale Mayer’s “Hathaway House” series. Hathaway House, a rehab center, truthfully, is the “star” of this series. Its goal is to provide wounded military men the highest quality facilities and care. The wounded person moves into Hathaway House and live there until they are ready to return to private life.
Denton Hamilton is the latest new resident. He is an injured SEAL who moves into the home. He meets Hannah Forsythe. She is the Administration Assistant and right hand person to the owner. She lives in the home as do most of the other employees.
This book is a little different from the previous books in this series. The author attempts to concentrate on “friendship” and how it can hurt and help people. This subject is raised by Denton Hamilton and Hannah Forsythe and is based on their own personal experiences with friendship.
When Denton moves into Hathaway House, he is joining two of his closest SEAL colleagues, Brock and Cole. They both live in the home and are in the middle of their own rehab. On the other hand, Hannah is a loner who has no close friends and has never relied on anyone else.
As Denton and Hannah debate the best way to live, they begin to question their own choices. Why doesn’t Hannah have any friends? What can she do to begin making some good friends who will support her? On the other hand, Denton worries that he is too dependent on his best friends? Can he do the rehab on his own without their support?
In spite of that, the most absorbing part of this book is learning about Denton’s injuries and then reading about his rehab and the support he gets from the staff and his friends.
Of the SEALs we’ve already met at Hathaway House, Denton seems the most in touch with his inner self. Close friends since SEALs training, Brock and Cole were already there when he arrived, and he is thrilled to reunite with them and get their advice and support for success in his recovery program. His physical challenges, though, are more complicated than theirs. In addition to missing back and calf muscles and a bottom rib, he has also lost part of his stomach, so he deals with food sensitivities and blood sugar issues as well.
As Dani’s recently-hired assistant, Hannah has been a huge help with paperwork and orienting new patients. She was instrumental in helping Denton get settled in, providing information on the place, how the teams work, and where to find his schedule on the tablet provided to him.
Brock’s and Cole’s support were very important to him in getting through the rigors of SEAL training and their bond remains strong. He values their experiences for successful recovery in setting goals for his own, and Hannah questions the wisdom of Denton’s reliance on his friends. Her own experience have been to rely on herself pretty much exclusively, with the result being that she feels unsuccessful in making close friends, even within her group of Hathaway House coworkers. Should she try to convince Denton to become more independent by distancing himself from his friends? Or, will Denton convince Hannah that having supportive, caring friendships is not as difficult as she thinks? What do you think?

Hathaway House is a place that you want to visit again and again, Although this is a standalone story a lot is to be gained from reading the previous books. Hathaway House is a unique place where military veterans with life changing injuries come to regain their lives, the treatment is holistic and is administered by teams of medics, physios, psychologists etc who work together to enhance the healing process. Denton has major injuries but he knows that waiting for him at Hathaway House are his two best friends who are already on their way to recovery. Brock and Cole have both met and fallen in love with girls who work at the centre and Denton was truly happy for them but he did worry that this would change the dynamics of their friendship. Denton met Hanna, an administrative assistant, and they became special friends, during one of their chats Hannah plants the seed that he may be relying too much on Brock and Cole and he begins to worry that he may not be capable of standing on his own two feet without the help of his friends who have always been there for support. Hannah, on the other hand has difficulty making friends and they set out to help each other. This could go pear shaped when Hannah realises to her dismay that Denton is distancing himself from his friends and this isn't what she wanted. This is a very heartwarming story, it shows the love and respect that the military teams have for one another and the selfless devotion of the Hathaway House staff. There is gentle romance but no sex and violence, just a cosy, warm glow, another triumph for Dale Mayer.

Donors have paid for Denton's medical rehab costs at Hathaway House and he is most grateful and ready to receive their help. He is especially excited about seeing two of his friends, Brock and Cole, who are recovering there. He has been cautioned about pushing to hard and suffering a setback as Cole had done. Denton is looking forward to bettering his physical and mental health at this new facility. He is delighted to see his two friends, however there has been a change in them as they have found love as well as recovery at Hathaway house and Denton is reluctant to interfere in any way with their happiness. He meets Hannah who is the admin assistant and his story of life at the new place adds more challenge. Hannah is a loner who has difficulty making friends, a bright and interesting lady, mildly dyslexic, adapt at helping others but not always able to help herself. So I found this story much about friendship, how it works and how your past and personality play a big part in developing such a relationship. How making and keeping friends comes so easily and naturally to some but not to others. Of course there is Stan who runs the vet clinic and plays a role in all these stories. The animals, some with prosthetic limbs and other problems, contribute to the healing of people as well as find themselves a home. Some of the descriptions (though well done) of the injuries and challenges may cause some discomfort, however, the love, loyalty and compassion will more than make up for it.
This new series is fabulous! I believe Denton is the best one yet, it touches people at a more personal level as it centers around being lonely and having friendships.
Loneliness is very real and can have debilitating aspects one wouldn’t think of. I feel that this author nailed it describing Hannah’s life and her inability to interact on a deeper level with those around her. It’s difficult to sync up with people of like minds and personalities if you work with the same people every day and don’t socialize after hours.
Sometimes it takes the right circumstances and the right timing to meet that someone who brings out a different side to your personality so that you are viewing your life in a whole different perspective. I really enjoyed how Hannah and Denton were able to talk to each other openly about their differences and outlook on their upbringing, all without negative judgment or defensiveness. I enjoyed Denton’s natural, easy going, friendliness to anyone he comes into contact with, not all people have that ability. Hannah’s is a more reserved personality which finds her on the outside looking in more often than not. I found it fun and interesting how they issue a “friend” challenge to each other to prove a friendly point, so to speak.
This is a very gut-wrenching story with such a multi-faceted topic, combined with the care and support of a rehab facility, animals and friends. I found it very introspective, heartwarming and easy to relate to. I loved it!
Another fabulous read from this series. These guys come to Hathaway House to recover from not just their injuries but all the emotions connected to whatever happened and how they feel about those injuries and how it affects the rest of their lives. Will they be able to get strong enough to do a job of some kind? will they ever find the love and support of someone special even if they have setbacks? this place deals with the whole range, the physical, the mental and the diet. This would be a place that if real would be in massive demand. As well as all that there's the animals, some just as injured as the human patients, all need love just as much as the treatments. Seeing this is also a big boost to both, the cuddles really help. This story is about all that but its also about friendship, having or not having, learning not to abuse that precious commodity, finding equal balance between taking and giving support and love. Of course there is also romance, even if it is in the usual sense of the word. I am loving this series, it is different and opened my eyes to things I hadn't really thought about as to how injuries affect such strong alpha males used to being the best and strongest they can possibly be, the struggle back just to get to a certain level of fitness to be able to cope back in society and find a career very different to that they were doing. Amazingly intense but inspiring read.
SEAL Denton Hamilton is at Hathaway House hoping to emulate some of the success that hid friends Brock and Cole had there. He is missing some ribs, muscles a portion of his stomach plus PTSD and is prepared to work hard to repay the kindness of the person who sponsored his stay there. Just fixing his physical side of things would be enough for him as he is not convinced he can fix the mental side of things and certainly not find his perfect woman as his friends already have - after all, who would take him on as he is? Hannah Forsythe is an admin assistant at the centre and is a loner at heart. However, she feels drawn to Denton and his struggle and finds it very sad that he feels no one could love nor want him. She tries to help him but it backfires when one of her comments has consequences she never predicted and she withdraws from him so he can work his way through the thoughts and feelings it inspires; Can he work through them and could they have a happy ending or will it all go wrong?
This was a lovely story that can get a bit deep in places as it analyses thoughts and feelings in some detail. However, if you stick with it you will be rewarded with a very sweet love story that has the kind of promise for a lasting relationship that has all of the tools for a long and happy life together. Well written and very enjoyable.
When Denton Hamilton gets the go to take a place at Hathaway House to complete his rehab he is beside himself since his two best pals are doing their rehab there and are getting superb results as well as having connected with outstanding ladies who are employed there and looks like it will be a life connection for them. Hannah Forsythe is the administrative assistant at Hathaway House and while she is friendly enough Denton feels she is a bit standoffish and maybe afraid to put herself out there for fear of being left behind again as with her childhood friend who was killed when she was only 10.
Denton and Hannah strike up a friendship which both feel is maybe more than just friendship but neither will make the first move in that direction even though Denton's friends can clearly see the signs and nudge him to hopefully get the tension toned down where these two are concerned. It takes a couple of times of Denton hurting Hannah's feelings for him to see he needs to step it up and tell her how he feels.
This book/series doesn't have the action and danger in most of Dale Mayer's military romance books where the heroine is in danger and needs the hero to save her. But instead is more of an emotional give and take of the characters until the result is an HEA.
I truly meant to have caught up with this series before this book came out, unfortunately I wasn't able to. However I never let that stop me from reading the latest of a series.
Hannah is Dani's assistant and she is almost as overworked as Dani. Her duties are varied and she is the one who welcomes Denton to Hathaway House and gives him all the information he's going to need. A bit overwhelming but also everything is on the tablet and phone he is issued. There's also a folder with much of it.
Hannah also helps with the animals in the Vet Clinic downstairs. There's a new addition that appears to be a walk-in, that causes a bit of commotion.
Hannah also has slight dyslexia and that becomes the beginning of her friendship with Denton when the numbers in his phone for his friends Cole and Brock don't work.
I love the progression, both for Denton as a patient and for him and Hannah as a new couple. These two are great together!
I really have to catch up with Brock and Cole now. I feel like I've missed a lot. Oh and I wonder what happened with the walk-in cat...I hope it finds a permanent place here at Hathaway House.
Denton Hamilton was a Navy Seal til an injury ended his career. After countless surgeries and rehab he still has a long way to go.When he;s offered a place at Hathaway all expenses covered hes grateful.Being raised by a hard working single mother who taught him to never be too proud to ask for help.Another thing he;s looking forward too is seeing his two best friends Brock and Cole both are patients after injuries they received as Navy Seals also ending their careers.Brock was first hes doing well and has found love,Cole has had some major setbacks from pushing too hard too fast but hes getting better everyday.Denton meets Hannah she;s a administrator assistant and a beautiful yet lonely woman. Will Hathaway continue its love bug? Will Denton and Hannah fall in love? This story is beautifully written. The characters have chemistry that is off the charts.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and you can feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

Hathaway House being a series based on narrating the stories of the recovery of wounded war veterans, one could expect to read about damaged, discouraged men and strong heroines who support and encourage them. In this case, however, the stereotypical storyline reversed. Denton is a solar, steady individual who has accepted his condition and his temporary need to rely on others for financial and moral support. It is instead Hannah, his counterpart and an employee at Hathaway House, who struggles to build her social life due to her insecurities. When she and Denton become closer, and he tries to help her overcome her self doubts, she manages to make him question himself and his solid friendships. As the story evolves, both have to find their way towards a new, more stable equilibrium. Their emotional pathway is the focus of the narration, quite an unusual approach for a novel in the “military” genre, which is likely to appeal to an audience more interested in an introspective tale. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own
I was provided a review copy of this book by the author.
This book is a sweet and clean romance novel that takes the military romance trope and flips it a little. Instead of focusing on a strong man protecting a woman, this book actually talks about equals coming together in a situation where the men are dealing with the physical and emotional repercussions of life in the military and at war. Physical limitations and PTSD are both discussed. The point made - that folks deal with these issues every day and are worthy of care and love - is great, however, I had a hard time reading the book. It was EXTREMELY dialogue heavy - almost all conversations - so I had a hard time picturing the whole facility it takes place in, and the other characters who only pop into the main conversation occasionally. This may be due, in part, to the fact that I read this book as a standalone and did not read the earlier books in the series.

Book 4 at the Hathaway House is Dentons and Hannahs story. **These contemporary stories are G rated ** This can be read as a stand alone with no problem. This one is more a self evaluation and relationship book. Questions a wounded, Seal with PTSD, Denton, has based on his life. The questions Hannah the Administrative Asst has on her life, friendships (or lack there of) . They each see the opposite of themselves in each other. As they get to know each other and feelings change, there are more questions, searching and a HEA. This book to me underscores the feeling of a small village that the Hathaway House represents with the employees, the patients (two and 4 legged) as they struggle, some working to do the right thing for others, some struggling to do right by themselves. I truly hope there is a place like this in the world for our wounded. Thank you for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
A heartwarming read about Denton, who ends up at Hathaway House to continue recovering from his injuries and to join his friends who have found success and love while there. He meets Hannah who works there and the two hit it off becoming friends but Hannah struggles to make friends and Denton has plenty. When the two decide to explore different avenues when it comes to friends...will the two become more. A sweet read that I enjoyed and I liked that there was no over the top drama. I also liked that Denton wasn’t hard headed and valued the opportunity to be there and how Hannah opens up herself to more. I also liked that there were no jealousies, no miscommunication that wasn’t cleared up promptly and w/o drama. I’m enjoying these sweet reads where the tough SEAL men learn to love and work through any issues they may have. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I really liked Denton and Hannah's characters as they were actually both vulnerable in different ways and could both learn from each other, it was also good that Brock and Cole make appearances so we could see how they were going too. We also get to know some of the others that work at the Hathaway House so we continue to slowly build up who the staff are. There were some parts that seem to have got drooped part way through the book like the cat who could become a therapy cat as well as Denton going from knowing no one for a job to having a friend who really wants him to work for him. I would love it if the books were a bit longer in this series so you could see things build up a bit more or see what happens in the weeks after they finally get together. In saying that these are the perfect books when you want a sweet and heartwarming read and don't have loads of time to read.

Denton, a disabled SEAL, is ready to make the next step in his recovery and join his friends at the Hathaway House. Denton starts reflecting on his dependence on his friendship after he meets the independent and reserved Hannah. In return, Hannah wants to open herself to friendship especially with Denton. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I enjoy reading this series on healing with a dash of romance. This book focused more on introspection of their friendships rather than physical healing. There was a mention of wounded women veterans at the center and I hope that one of the books in the series will focus on that. I like that this book had me reflecting on how much I opened myself to people. I really liked this book.
Denton is being transferred to Hathaway House to finish his rehab after suffering serious injuries. His two Seal brothers are already there so he is thrilled to be going somewhere that he knows people. Holly works at Hathaway House and the two meet and get along. Denton has found out that his buddies have found love at the House and he hopes the same happens to him. Holly has always been a loner and the two become close talking out their problems with getting along with people. Denton thinks Holly should go out of her way more to become friends with people and Holly thinks Denton needs to expand his circle of friends. Although a well written book it was not my type of book. If you like to explore people talking out their feelings this is the story for you.

I am so in love with series. It has all he marks of a fantastic read with a gritty storyline, great characters and a will it or won’t it ending. Hannah works on the reception but is a jack of all trades within Hathaway house. She greats the newest resident, Denton, and because of his friendship with Cole and Brock it makes Hannah reevaluate her lack of friends. So between the they have a deal, Denton has to be independent without his friends and Hannah needs to make friend connections. When lines are crossed and Hannah feels guilty it’s not a four gone conclusion that it will have a HEA. I loved straight talking Denton but I did feel sorry for Hannah when she couldn’t interpret what Denton said. A great book and I am looking forward to Elliot’s book
Hathaway House is the place people go for rehabilitation. You could be former military or just an everyday person coming back from a traumatic injury and surprise, broken animals can be fixed here as well. The professional staff is excellent and work together for each individual patient.
Denton has lots of muscle damage in his leg which was repaired by taking some of his back muscle and replacing his leg muscles. Hannah is administration assistant to Dani, owner of Hathaway House.
Denton is an extrovert making friends easily while Hannah is an introvert with acquaintances but no close friends. These two are drawn together and end up complimenting each other. Another great love story from this author.
I started this book expecting to like it. I have to say I absolutely loved it. It explores friendships and how your life is affected by whether or not you have friends. It also shows how having support of friends and those around you can help with making your life different from those who do not have the support of family and friends. This book had me sitting back and thinking about my life and had me comparing myself to both of the main characters. I loved the way the book had so many of the characters from previous books included in the book, yet centered around the two main characters. I really look forward to where the next book takes us and cannot wait to read more in this series!

Denton is glad to be able to get to Hathway House. He has friends there that have improved tremendously from the therapy there. Two of his buddies there have already found mates and are looking forward to moving on with their lives and of course, Denton wonders where that leaves him. Will they still be best friends? Will he too find someone to partner with? Will his healing experiences be as significant as theirs. So many questions and of course I will not do a spoiler. You will just need to read the book and it is great. I have yet to read a book by Dale Mayers I have not loved. She has not disappointed me ever. Thanks, Dale. Great job once again.

This is the fourth book in the series. I love this series because the books hit you right in the heart and this one was no different. When I finished this book it left me feeling good and a smile on my face. It has an easy flow that instantly capture your attention. Denton is trying regain as much normal as he can after what he has been through and the Hathaway House is hope to achieving that. My heart goes out to Hannah because I can sympathize with her being a loner. That's me a lot of the time, but I love how far she comes in this book. What I also love about this series are the animals that are also recovering at the Hathaway House. They bring a lot of hope for the humans the are recovering. I would definitely recommend this one. I like the set up for the next book.
Denton by Dale Mayer Hathaway House Series Book Four Denton Hamilton has finally arrived at Hathaway House and he couldn't be more grateful. Someone has funded his way and he's not too proud to accept it. But he'll do the best he can to be worthy of that donor. With his friends Brock and Cole, he hopes to move forward.
Hannah has been working at Hathaway for a year now. She realizes, as she watches Denton with his friends, that she doesn't have any real friends. If something happened to her...she'd have no one to care.
When Denton arrives at Hathaway House he is glad that he won’t be alone as Brock and Cole, two of his best friends and former teammates, will be there as well. They can lean on each other as they try to heal and face life with the aftereffects of their injuries.
Hanna is the administrative assistant at Hathway House and experience has shown her that the only one she can depend on is herself. As a result, she is independent and doesn’t allow many people close. As they spend time they develop feelings for each other which causes them both to reflect on the value of friendships and relationships.
It's a sweet story from Dale Mayer, not my favorite but I enjoyed it nonetheless. In this book we follow Denton's journey to recovery after bad injuries when he's a NAVY SEAL. There's a lot of struggles and inner turmoil either from Denton and Hannah, those are real, it's what also happens to many people, so definitely there's a lot of lessons that I can take here, I wished there's more sweet love though, I'm kinda missing those sweetness that make me smile and warm, and the hot and cold, the too much thinking stuff, kinda confusing and frustrating and a bit annoying for me, but overall I really enjoyed this book.
If you're looking for sweet read, you better give this book a try.
Hathaway House is a place of healing. For Denton it is a place for him to grow, to regain lost physical abilities and put many issues in perspective. It is there that he meets Hannah and realizes that perception vary with the beholder. It is as much about emotional healing as it is physical healing and many of the wounds happened before the actual injuries he received as a Navy SEAL. This is book 4 of the Hathaway House series and each book gets that much better. Well done, Dale Mayer.

Two broken souls come together from opposite sides of the coin, one 1/2 glass full and the other 1/2 glass empty takes you on a journey of discovery seeing all different levels of friendships from lonely to friends that are more than brothers, growing from the past and into something great for a future they never seen coming. A very heart felt story showing real everyday events and how each handles them. 2 very different people grow together, takes a chance on love and wins. Another great story in this series.
