Loved the beginning, loved the (rather rushed) end and didn't even mind the insta love but oh man, the middle part dragged on for too long. I also could have done with a lot less of the pushing away that Ivy did.

Not my favorite
This book is depressing, infuriating and downright disappointing.
I am a fan of the author but not of this book. Female H is annoying, irresponsible and needs professional help. She grieved the entire book...cried buckets of tears and treated Sebastian so callously and irresponsibly. I was annoyed most of the book. I have no interest in the other books in this series if this pattern continues. Sex is unadventurous and boring. The angst draws out too long, and wrap up leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Igniting Ivy is more like, supporting Ivy, coddling Ivy, dealing with Ivy, and for me, sick of Ivy.

Changing my rating from 4 to 3 stars.
Igniting Ivy is the first book within the Men on Fire series. Now this was never on my radar until recently. I also only truly dove into it because it would work for a challenge or two.
That being said, I actually ended up liking the book which definitely surprised me. Mostly because I saw that my GR friends were kind of on the fence when it came to this book. Some like it and some didn't even make it past a certain point in the book. Which is why I decided it was high time for me to form my own opinion.
Now I totally understand why people couldn't really connect with the characters. Trust me, that's how I felt for some of this book too. Yet, at one point I started to like everyone. Can't even tell you when that happened - I just know that it did.
Of course, I did get annoyed and frustrated with Ivy and Sebastian. Mostly because she really needed professional help and I hated how she treated him. Then I wanted him to have a backbone because he needed to be treated better. The romance department could also use some help because I just didn't vibe with it for the entire book. Yeah, they had some cute moments, but I was mostly bored with it. They needed some spice or something.
In the end, it was an okay book that had potential to be better. I just think if Ivy started the grieving process and grew from it way early on, then I probably would have kept my rating at 4 stars. Since I'm over the mini book hangover, I realized that it just didn't deserve the 4 stars.

I tried. I just ... can’t. The heroine is dealing with a lot of grief and sometimes writing a character like that works and sometimes it doesn’t. In this case, it doesn’t. I don’t think I need to explain why I’m dnfing but my brain was working overtime while reading this and I just need to get my thoughts out. First; I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. Second; Juilliard is like a super prestigious school and is incredibly difficult to get into. As if you’d get in, decide it’s not for you and then become a firefighter. I mean, each to their own but yeeeeeeeah. Third; I hate the whole “they saved me” trope. Ivy needs professional help to deal with her grief, not a distraction. Maybe this happens later in the book but I can’t bring myself to finish it because everything happened way too quickly and they said the I love you’s way way too fast and yeah. This just wasn’t for me!

Every expectation that I had going into this one was absolutely blown to bits by Briggs and Ivy!!! Samantha’s most emotional story to date. Pack the tissues!!

Samantha Christy has an amazing way of bringing characters and situations to life. She does immense research on topics so you feel like your learning with the characters. The pages come to life and you find yourself laughing with the characters like your standing next to them, crying cause you feel their pain in your soul, saying WTH out loud at all the right moments.

Cute story as usual - hard hitting topics - still hate the non communication brought to the table. It's not like it happens this way in real life. Would have been a 5 star read for me if it was more of a reality type scenario. Did like how there were several scenes of Bass is action with the firehouse. I really enjoyed those - didn't enjoy the second half of Ivy's story, was boring and very annoying to me. Did love the plot twist at the end though that made it a 4 star for me.

I don’t think the words exist to describe how this book made me feel. There were moments of profound sorrow and sadness, complete and utter frustration and beautiful happy endings. This book made me feel it all. I couldn’t put it down and never wanted it to end. If you have read any of her previous books, you’ll love the cameos of old favorites and a further look into future Men on Fire.

Samantha’s tagline of “Real. Painful. Love” had never been more true than with Igniting Ivy. This book has great chemistry between Sebastian and Ivy from chapter one. The healing power of love surrounds these two through their journey. Everything I want to say is a spoiler, so I will just say you HAVE to read this book for yourself!

In true Samantha fashion she brings all the feels and then some. Ivy endures something no woman should have to and while in Hawaii trying to find herself Sebastian is brought into her path. As a firefighter, Sebastian wants to break down her walls to save her. But the question is, can he?

Was going to give a 2.5 stars. I did not like this book at all - didn’t like the premise - so 17 years old teens lose and child and have another right away - because maturity at 17 is where you make the best decisions and the whole - who is your real daddy at the end - stupid and unbelievable. I have liked the other books by this author but this book rubbed me the wrong way for the whole book. Wished I hadn’t read it.

I have enjoyed pretty much all of Samantha Christy's books and this was no exception. It is full of such heart and feelings. While Bass and Ivy did have "insta love", it somehow worked for me. I did, however, get very frustrated with Ivy halfway through the book. I don't want to give spoilers, so I am going to be pretty ambiguous. What she had went through was absolutely AWFUL. And what she had to face was salt in the wound. But I really did not agree with her decision. In the end it worked out and I was able to appreciate the whole story. Plus I loved the ending!

Omg. I don't think I've ever read a more depressing love story. I swear. I can't stand Ivy. I understand she lost her childrsn; I under the depression. I don't understand her decision to lie to the man she Clayton love. Really, I read fiction to escape reality. This book was too real. It is everyday life. Downright deprssing. I skipped over the last few chapters and wasn't really invested in reading the end. I did not find any particular scene in the book tear jerking as it really was "wow is me" throughout the book. If this is this author 's writing style it is not for me. I will not be reading any more books from her. granted, these kids were only 24 years old. Anyway. Sad, repetitive, stupid and boring.

Most of the time I don’t mind insta-love, but this one was a little too quick for me given the painful past that Ivy was experiencing while vacationing on the beautiful island of Kauai. Ivy just frustrated me to no end. Nobody should go through the sadness and loss that she did. But, she just kept pushing Bass, the kind and attractive firefighter from NYC, away. And, he just did nothing wrong. Gorgeous and patient Sebastian Briggs. Sigh. Also nothing could make for a more beautiful setting than Hawaii, which I visited for my own honeymoon almost thirty years ago. Cascading waterfalls. Majestic mountains. And, miles and miles of beautiful beaches. The surf. The sand. And, the sunsets. Oh, who could forget the exquisite flowers??? “Daisies gonna make everything better”. Ms Christy writes alll about these things as Ivy and Bass come together romantically. Unfortunately, a debilitating disease once again threatens the people Ivy loves, but there’s a most unexpected twist that changes everything. You won’t be disappointed by this author’s most recent release. I just had a few teeny tiny issues. And, the gang from a few of the author’s other series makes some surprising appearances too.

I own every one of Ms. Christy's books both in print and on my Kindle App and Ivy will be no exception. As with all her other books, I expect to read it multiple times. If you are a fan of Samantha Christy like I am, you already know what I mean. Her characters come to life and it is more like watching a private movie in your head than reading a book. I could not stop reading, I stayed up all night to see what happened next and finish it. I can't wait to read it again.
Ms. Christy has a way of making you have "All the Feels". You will laugh, you will cry, you will just feel good. I admit there were several times while reading the book that I yelled at the book (making my son give me strange looks) because I knew what was going to happen before it happened. I don't know if that was because I've read too many Romance novels (If that is even possible) or watched too many Hallmark movies. Don't worry, there were several surprises I didn't expect as well.
If you know Ms. Christy's books, you know friends from previous books will make appearances so you can see how their lives are progressing along with "veiled" references that will make you want to read the Mitchell Sisters books again. Wink, Wink, think about the titles of those books. Be careful ladies Bass may become you new favorite.

Well, Samantha did it again!
She gave us another story that had my emotions all over the place. I experienced some lows, then some highs, followed by some lows... mellowed out some, got low again... high again... (you get the picture) my emotions were all over!
I got mad at one point and put my Kindle down...
Geez!
This story has all ‘the feels’.
We meet Ivy in Hawaii. Bass we met in a previous book, but in this book, we also meet him in Hawaii. He’s on his honeymoon. Or is he?!?!?
THEY meet while on a helicopter excursion viewing the island they are on. He’s enjoying every minute. She’s crying.
They meet and eventually become more. Ivy tells Bass it can only last while in Hawaii. He’s in love though. He hopes to change her mind in the eleven days they have left together. He also hopes to find out why she is so sad and he hopes to help her heal. (Big tasks to accomplish in 11 days!)
In order to not ruin this wonderful story, I’m going to leave my review here and stop writing about the actual story.
I HIGHLY recommend this one!

This is book 1 in this new series, but if you enjoy this one, go back and read Samantha’s baseball series to meet characters you touch on in this story. You’ll definitely want to read more about Bass and Aspen’s relationship.

5 *Flowers make it better* Stars
Wow this book BLEW me away. This book was so emotional but I loved it. I can’t even imagine anyone having to go through the things Ivy dealt with. She was so strong and Bass I don’t know where to begin with him. He was so loving and caring and patient. I loved learning about Hawaii I’ve always wanted to go. Now I want to go even more. I love this author and I can’t wait to read more of this series as it comes. Denver’s story is going to be so interesting. I hope Mrs. Christy put him and Holly (Ivy’s sister) together.

This book was so emotional. Make sure you read with a buddy and have a box of tissues. My heart broke so badly reading this. Sebastian is the type of guy every girl is searching for. Ivy is broken but Sebastian is determined to put her back together. I absolutely loved this book.

I loved this books so much!!
It was beautifully written. Emotional, yet heartwarming. Full of sweet characters with lots of healing.
“Marry me, Ivy Greene. Marry me and I promise I’ll make the two of you the happiest girls in the world. I promise never to let you forget to jump into puddles. I promise to take you to every waterfall we can find. I promise to help teach her how to make flower pancakes with fruit in the middle.” He looks over at our daughter. “Marry me and I promise never to let our daughter forget that it was her sister who brought us together.”
I loved reading about these MCs. Briggs was able to read Ivy so well. Even from the beginning of the book! I loved reading about their instant connection. Although, saying I love you 3 days after meeting someone seemed a bit unrealistic. It didn't annoy me as much as it usually does it books! I wouldn't even consider it instant love because of the heartache that they both were healing from and the heartache that came after.
This book was so different. I have never read anything like it. The healing journey both MCs took during this book felt very realistic.

Get ready to read this book with a box of chocolates and a box of tissues. Samantha Christy really knows how to tug at your heart, that’s for sure. What more could you want?
Sebastian “Bass” Briggs of the NYFD goes on his so called honeymoon to Hawaii by himself after being left at the altar. He soon meets a sad woman on a helicopter ride and he feels drawn to her instantly. Why can’t he stop looking at her sad eyes???

I really need to move up more of Samantha Christy's books on my TBR, I forgot how much I liked her writing. Igniting Ivy can be read as a stand alone, however, some characters from others series make appearances...I totally fell in love with Bass. Looking forward to Denver's story.

4-4.5 Stars. Cryptic review to follow. Honestly this absolutely could have been a 5 Star for me and I love the way it ended. But “the time between” was way too long and made me feel like the end was rushed and tied in a bow. And no mistaking, it was a great ending. Just rushed. I feel that the same end game could have been reached with the resolution happening sooner than it did. That would have tipped the scales for me possibly even beyond 5 stars.
But, it was not my story to tell and many readers will undoubtedly have no issue with it.

You did it again!!!
You had me crying, laughing and sitting on the edge. I think I had felt every emotion that was possible. Samatha you are the best. I have not been disappointed in any book you have written. And this book was not a disappointment as were none of your others. Now I can go finish ugly crying. Your the best.
