Carrie Schmidt (Reading is My SuperPower)
I’ve enjoyed all the books so far in the City by the Bay Stories series but I think Single Dad to the Rescue is my favorite! Adorable little boy + adorable puppies (and yeah, some cats too lol) = my kind of book. Add in good-hearted paramedic Dan & wounded-but-courageous Brooke plus a delightful mix of supporting characters and I’m fully on board!

Brooke’s losses are staggering, and the forest fire that’s wiped out her safe haven is just one more hit. With her ragtag and endearing family of rescu

The one thing I can tell you about this book is that it went straight to my heart. Both the main characters (Brooke Ellis and Dan Sawyer) have such tragedy in their pasts that they are broken…broken and just trying to deal with everyday life.

IMHO, this is the best book I have read from this author. It truly speaks to your soul. Brooke is still trying to deal with the death of her husband. No details from me; you will have to read the story. And the book opens with a horrific event in her life. D

One of the sweetest stories of the year! I give this a High 5 Stars! This book will keep you up hours into the night enjoying the banter and blooming love between our H and h. Our h, Brooke is devasted by a wildfire that totally destroys her home, left homeless, she happens to find shelter with a local paramedic, Dan, who has a son. However, it's not just Brooke that needs shelter but her pets as well. Dan's world is literally taken over by Brooke and her brood. But soon Brooke begins to melt hi ...more

I have read a lot of books in the Harlequin Heartwarming line and while they have all been good, I have to say that this book is one of my favorites. I absolutely adored Brooke Ellis plus anytime an animal is written into a storyline, I'm completely enamored of any and all of the furry little creatures.

My heart just ached for Brooke as she suddenly finds herself homeless due to wildfire but just as quickly my heart soared a tiny bit when the kind and gentle Rick Sawyer offers her (and her fur b

Cari Lynn Webb returns to San Francisco and her patchwork family of friends in Single Dad to the Rescue. And if that’s not enough, she also throws a sweet boy and his friends and some rescue pups and kitties in there too (the awwww factor in this book is high!)

Brooke has experienced more tragedy in her life than most and shields herself by hiding away. Dan has his own pain, but his son and support system keep him firmly connected. When a fire brings Brooke into Dan’s life, neither expect the mut

I really liked this book. I didn't realize at first that it was the fourth book in a series, though I felt like a couple of the characters seemed a bit familiar. I then realized that I had read one of the other books in the series. But it completely works as a standalone story, because it is so focused on Dan and Brooke. I do want to go back and read the rest of the series, though, just to learn more about some of the other characters who hang out in the story.

Though it takes place in the city,

Yall, I have to admit that this is the best book in the series.  Yes, I've read the others but this one has all the feels.  I really connected with both Brooke and Dan.  And also with Ben.  Poor kid.  I'm a diabetic so can I understand Dan's concerns but at times, his inner dialogue got to me about how "safe" Ben needed to be.  I deal with it on a daily basis and I know children at my school that do too.  But I digress...

Ms. Webb deals with some serious PTSD with Brooke.  I can't even imagine wh

I discovered this author by chance and decided to give this book a try.
The story centers around Brooke Ellis and single dad, Dan Sawyer.
Brooke has just lost her home in the California fires, and needs a shelter not only for herself, but also for her four legged family. A generous man offers a cottage next to the home he shares with his son and grandson.
A boy that has type 1 diabetes and a mother that has been absent most of his life. A “mother” more interested in a life of travel and adventure

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

First of all, this is squeaky clean romance with nothing offensive in it. Morever, this is a book that can be enjoyed in an evening, by the beach, on vacation...in short, it is a nice, quick read that will provide just the kind of clean romance fans of this genre crave. The end is never in question, and the reader will know exactly what to expect. At least, fo

Whenever I hear on the news about wildfires and the losses of homes and property of these poor people, I just want to weep. Brooke Ellis is a woman who has suffered much and does not quite know how to deal with it. Before the loss of her home, she lost her loving husband and places and what ifs still haunt her from that tragic circumstance. Her love of pets was admirable and so heartwarming. I really wanted to see this broken shell of a woman get a second chance of love and a life worthy of her ...more

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Brooke Ellis has only her 3 furry friends, that’s it. That’s her family, and when a forest fire took her home and most of her belongings. Brooke was blessed that she came in contact with a retired fire fighter, who offered the small apartment at his sons house for Brooke and her animals.

This is a sweet Romance, but the beginning and how Brooke and Dan met was a not so pleasant time. Author Cari Lynn Webb does a really good job of weaving all of the past hurts and heartac

4 1/2 STARS!

An emotional journey of life, love and growth! Cari Lynn Webb pulls at our heartstrings time and again with the latest in her City by the Bay Stories series. Brooke meets the kindhearted Sawyer family just when she needs them most, and it turns out they need her too. The story is sweet with a punch of sadness and held my attention throughout. Really enjoyed the richness of the characters and the connection they shared. Highly recommend!

Single Dad to the Rescue is a sweet clean romance read! It’s the 4th in a series, but you don’t have to read the first 3 books. Those book characters do enter this story which makes me want to go back and read their sweet romance.

A wildfire makes Brooke and her animal family leave their home. With her pets she can’t find a place for shelter. Thankfully she’s blessed to find a kind older man named Rick who brings her to his son Dan’s guesthouse. Throughout the story you get

After Ava’s Prize, I was excited to revisit Cari Lynn Webb’s City by the Bay Stories. In Single Dad to the Rescue, she brings Brooke Ellis and Dan Sawyer together (along with a little boy and a few furry friends) in the aftermath of a wildfire. Both have pain and hardship in their pasts and keep themselves well-guarded as a result. Yet, as attraction gives way to unexpected feelings, the romance between Brooke and Dan proves to one of growth and healing, courage and taking chances.

This was such an interesting story. Touching a lot of tender spots close to home. The fear of feeling the unknown of friends being safe in the fire-stricken areas in the California fires. Then, of course of losing people due to those who chose to get behind the wheel of a car.
But this author was able to bring you to a full circle on the positive side. We are following the life of Dan Sawyer and his son Ben. He’s a single dad with a lot on his plate. He is a paramedic, his ten-year-old son has d

I can't pass up a single dad romance. Also that cover drew me in because I just love books with animals in them. The beginning of this one just broke my heart and Brooke's back story had me tearing up. The thing that I loved about this book the most is the feeling of hope through out the book. There is a bunch of characters that are dealing with some tough decisions and there is always the sense of hope for all. Those Sawyer boys will win anyone over with their helping genes. I REALLY loved this book; it’s more than a romance story. I love the humour between the kids and adults & their friends to the involvement of dogs, a cat & especially the rescue animals. This is a good feel wonderful story.
This fast read starts with Rick driving Brooke & her animals from an area that was her home before a severe forest fire took all she owned. Already having experienced a tragic event with her husband she came to live & recover in the forested mountain area. Brooke comes to ren

This is an unbiased review of an advanced reader copy. I thought this was a sweet romance with likable characters and of course a happy ending. It incorporates the importance of family and friends and throws a little extra in for those of us that are animal lovers as well. Brooke Ellis has had more than her share of tragedy and has decided that she will stick to loving her animal rescued family. Her plans eventually change however when she becomes involved with the Sawyer family and their friend ...more

Single dad to the Rescue

This is a wonderful story. I especially loved all the dogs and cats in the book. Also the little boy. Ben has diabetes. His mother left when he was young but now is back.

Brooke loses her home because of fires. She ends up staying by Dan’s house. She has pets but he doesn’t want his son to know. That will be a impossible task.

This is my first book by the author. I enjoyed her writing very much. I definitely will read more of her books. I loved all the characters in the

Brooke lost her home to the wildfires. She managed to save her rescue pets, two cats and a dog, plus 1 trashbag of personal items. Rick, a retired firefighter, takes her home to the apartment at his son, Dan's place in San Fransisco. Brooke left the city 5 yrs ago after her husband died in an accident. Dan is a single dad of Ben who has type 1 diabetes. This is a heartwarming story of how they both find life and love again. It's quite a ride. I highly recommend this book.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I had never read any of Cari's books previously. I found out what I had been missing when I read this book. The story was gripping and the characters were compelling. When I had to put it down, I couldn't wait to pick it back up. I loved this book so much I am already looking for the other books in this series. Wonderful, wonderful story!

I loved this book. Brooke has lost her husband, then her home and all her possessions. Dan’s wife abandoned him and their son Ben. So he has no room in his life for anything but work and keeping Ben safe. But very slowly, they become friends. I loved the changes they each made, until they realize that they can let go of the past and move on.

Brooke is damaged but so is Dan. Each have their past that prevents them from moving forward, but love can and will conquer all. Ben and the pets bring their love full circle.
