I’m a huge fan of hockey, mystery, and romance--“Skating on Thin Ice” had it all. I loved the little details weaved into the story about hockey, but it was the characters and story that held my interest. The storyline drew me right in, and I ended up finishing it in one sitting. Mac took a hit during a game right before the playoffs and Samantha was assigned to help him recover. I loved the sparks between Mac and Sam and the danger that surrounded them. A quick paced story with a few surprises I wasn’t expecting. I thoroughly enjoyed this and toss my (Sharks) hat to the author. I will be reading the next book in the series.

This book is the perfect mixture of romance with an action packed story line to keep you turning the pages. The author does a great job of drawing the reader into the world of ice hockey and the murky world of match fixing and deals with the mob. Mac Wanowski is a champion ice hockey player and, with him on board, his team looks set to win the season. This does not suit everyone and Mac is seriously injured while playing in a match two weeks before the final. He is sent away to a remote cabin in the mountains to heal. The team's doctor delivers his niece, Sam, a physical therapist who desperately needs a break, to assist Mac with a speedy recovery. Little does he know that she has been offered the opportunity to obtain a contract as the physical therapist to Mac's team but, in return, she must slow down his recovery.

When Sam meets Mac her soft heart quickly goes out to him, especially when she learns of theloss of his wife and unborn baby in a terrible accident a few years previously. Sam is also attracted to the taciturn hockey star and she can sense it is reciprocated. Sam makes a decision to try to help Mac and ensure that he is able to play in the final match of the season but she is unaware that there are other, much more dangerous people lurking, who are determined to keep Mac off the ice.

I enjoyed the character of smolderingly sexy Mac, with his heartbreaking past, and the sweet and big hearted, Sam, with her history of financial anxiety and determination to succeed in a male dominated profession.

An entertaining and easy read with a great twist at the end and lots of romantic ups and downs to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The WarHawks were close to fighting for a Stanley Cup when another player injures the WarHawks team captain Mac Wanowski, and he had to be carried off the rink. I felt so bad for Mac. He had the Stanley Cup taken away from him a few years earlier when his wife and unborn child were killed in a car accident, and he was living to win it this year. I can see how he would put his life into his hockey since his family is gone. The team doc brings his niece who is a doctor up to the cabin one of Mac’s teammates let him use to recover. I know that Sam wants to do the best she can so she can get a team contract as a doctor. Sam and Mac are attracted to each other, but try to fight it. There are other things going on in the background that is illegal. There are people trying to hurt Mac and with Sam there, she is vulnerable. I was shocked at the end on who all was behind what was going on. It is a good book that I encourage you to read. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

Something to warm up those cold winter evenings!

Jacquie Biggar certainly has a way with words and the skill to create hot and attractive characters in her stories. And this book is no exception with the cynical and driven Mac Wanowski, determined to bury the tragic past in his fast paced career as captain of the Victoria War Hawks hockey team. And Sam, a reserved but determined young woman who has to deal with this stubborn and reclusive sport's star.

With an injury threatening his participation in the play offs, Mac reluctantly agrees to the personal attention of a physical therapist recommended by the team doctor.at his beautiful mountain retreat. But Sam is definitely not the male  therapist Mac was expecting and sparks fly from their first meeting. Not everyone wants the team's star player to recover and it is not until the end that we find out who is behind the plot.  And let me warn you it is not who you expect.

In the meantime we have the heat of relationship that is developing between Mac and Sam and the freezing temperatures of a snow laden mountain storm that isolates the two of them at the mercy of hired thugs.  There is passion, danger and surprises and of course a very healthy dollop of romance.

Something to warm you up during the long, dark, cold evenings ahead this winter. Very enjoyable.

It was a good read

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2020...

***Spoilers... splash here & there**

That’s crazy that the whole time it wasn’t just Mac coach Harris but Sam Uncle Thomas too behind everything that happened in Mac’s life, what they both were planning probably too off both Mac and Sam. That’s why Thomas wanted to go up there to the cabin, plus Harris agreeing to go too. He especially hated Mac and vise versa. He said all along he wanted to harm or didn’t like Mac. Thomas (Sam) uncle even stated he’ll kill Mac. If that wasn’t a clue, I don’t know what is...

Not only that, they had snipers out there trying to kill Mac... heck they already killed his wife and his unborn child (his daughter).... he had to care about Sam not to let the judge stick it to her family...

Hockey, like any professional sport, is very competitive, violent and caught up in the dark world of betting and winning. Mac "The Hammer" has immersed himself with hockey to help him bury the pain of losing his pregnant wife years ago in a car accident. But in this book, not all is what it seems at first. There is a lot of mystery and suspense mixed in with romance and steamy attraction to make this a very good book to read on a winters evening! It will melt some of that snow. Samantha (Sam) is a physiotherapist who stays with Mac in his isolated cabin to try to help him heal his knee before the play-offs begin. Being alone in a cabin starts to ignite more than just the fireplace logs, but Mac and Sam both have lots of impediments to overcome. Mac feels guilty for being attracted to another woman, even years after his beloved wife dies. And Sam has ethical concerns since Mac is her patient. But there are some dark secrets that unfold as Mac and Sam find themselves fighting for their lives. No spoilers, but I ended up reading this book in one night because I needed to learn all the secrets. I am not usually a sports fan but this book will appeal to all types of readers or romantic suspense.

Samantha (Sam) Walters has a chance to earn a contract as a physical therapist for the Victoria WarHawks Hockey Team if she rehabs their star player, Mac “The Hammer” Wanowski. Mac’s knee was badly injured during a season game and it is imperative that he be ready for the playoffs as the team has a good chance to win the Stanley Cup. Sam, however, is told to delay the recovery per her uncle who is the team doctor. Why would her uncle want her to do this? Mac was not counting on a female physical therapist and finally agrees to give Sam a chance. They strike sparks off of each other as Sam gives as good as she gets. As she spends time with Mac, Sam finds herself attracted to the player and the man. He has had loss in his life and she wants to help him heal both physically and emotionally. Hockey is a dangerous sport, but when someone is trying to take Mac out permanently, Sam and Mac will have to fight for their lives. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Mac injured and goes to a cabin for his rehab where Sam comes to help him get back on the ice for the play off games. Sam's uncle is the Doc for the team and Coach who isn't happy with Mac run into some trouble. A good read to start the series off.

Playoffs in the NHL are always interesting for those betting on who will win the Stanley Cup. Mac is a seasoned hockey player recently injured following a “dirty hit” in a game. Sam is a PT who is trying to make her way into professional sport. When asked to help Mac with his rehab, Sam thinks this may be her professional break. Set in an isolated cabin in the mountains outside of Vancouver, it seems like the ideal spot to recover away from prying eyes. Or is it? There is suspense as suspicious things happen, a touch of romance while several secrets are carefully guarded until the end. I only wish there was a bit more of an ending /epilogue. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

A romantic suspense filled with danger and a twist I didn't see coming. The descriptions were so good that I felt like I was right there with Mac and Samantha. There were a few times they both irritated me - so much chemistry but fighting against it. UGH. A great start to this series.

WOW!!! Skating on Thin Ice has everything a good suspenseful romance should have. Intense chemistry between Mac and Samantha, lots of danger, narrow escapes, twists, turns, and a happy ever after. Jacquie Biggar certainly knows how to keep the reader on the edge of their seat and interested from the first page to the last. You just have to read this one. I highly recommend it.

Disjointed, too long for very little content. I got to the end and just kept thinking how dumb the story line was and how disappointing it was to waste the time I did.

She Shoots and Scores!

Jacquie Biggar has done it again. I have yet another new book boyfriend—Mac Wanowski, captain of the Victoria WarHawks hockey team.

Mac is the perfect guy—a body that won’t quit, a quick wit to match, intelligent, chivalrous, and just damaged enough to tug your heartstrings without wanting to bash him over the head for his stupidity. (Well, not too often, anyway.)

Sam is his perfect match—strong, smart, quick-tempered, sassy, big-hearted. And she has a past with true heartache and a present with secrets that make her just a little mysterious.

I read this story in one afternoon, quickly turning pages to see what would happen next. It’s not enough that they’re trapped together in an isolated cabin, both trying to ignore burgeoning feelings and protect their fragile hearts. That alone would be a story worth reading. But Mac is injured, and someone is trying to kill him. The situation was dicey from the first word to the mind-blowing climax.

The characters are people I’d love to meet in real life. The plot moves along at a blistering pace. And the settings are beautifully depicted—I could almost smell the cedar and wood smoke as I shivered from the cold.

If they gave a Stanley Cup to authors, Biggar would deserve one for this story.

I really enjoyed everything this book had to offer. I love sports and romance books and this brought it all. My only complaint is that I needed more! I feel like the two main characters didn't have enough time together. I feel like everything I saw between them were just snippets of their whole story. Even the ending was abrupt. I would have absolutely loved the story if I just had more.

Aside from feeling like something was missing, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Mac "The Hammer" Wanowski sounds like a broken guy, literally and figuratively. He seems to just be going along with the motions of life after a tragic accident took his love. An accident on the ice threatens to take his career and the Stanley Cup title if he can't get back in the game in time. Samantha Walters is the physiotherapist hired to help put him back together. While there's a strong connection between them, that they both try to deny multiple times, their connection goes past what either of them sees and their story is thicker than I would have expected. This book turns out to have some thrilling aspects to it and honestly I wasn't expecting it to turn out that way. It's a great story and worth the read. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, sporty book to pass the time.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Skating on thin ice was a straight to the point story filled with betrayal, cautiousness, and desire.

When hockey star, Max Wanowski takes a gruesome hit, forcing him into rehabilitation, he is forced to rely on the new physiotherapist, Samanta “Sam” Walters. What he wasn’t expecting was for Sam to break down his walls, no matter how much he resisted.

Sam has been given an opportunity of a lifetime when handed the task of rehabilitating the Warhawks star player in time to win the championship. She has her reservations about him as he is also known as an arrogant player. What she wasn’t expecting was to begin to have feelings for him, after learning he has some dark, hidden secrets that she can relate to.

The struggles these two go through to keep their desires and need for one another at bay allows for an emotionally filled love story. There are a lot of twists, surprises around every corner, and an ending to write home about that will leave you with a huge smile on your face. After everything they have endured in their past, their ending begins another exciting chapter.

In a world of many ice hockey books, this one stands out in terms of the story and the characters. Mac Wanowski, sniper for the WarHawks, is injured just before the Stanley Cup, and he retreats. He’s followed to his retreat by Sam[antha], a physical therapist assigned to him by the team doctor. Various attempts are made on their lives – and the suspense builds nicely to a fairly unexpected climax. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone new to Jacquie Biggar’s writing – those familiar with it won’t need to be told twice!

When an injured hockey player and the therapist hired to help him with rehab head for a secluded cabin in the mountains, things take an unexpected and dangerous turn in this romantic thriller.
I loved Mac, broken both physically and emotionally by the hand he's been dealt. He's exactly the kind of hero physio-therapist Sam should be attracted to, and yet, their relationship is fraught with the kind of tension I really enjoy as a reader.
Figuring out all the intricacies of the plot the pair find themselves in the middle of kept me wondering until the end.
Well worth the read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Skating on Thin Ice. The repartee between Mac and Sam(antha) was awesome. Both Mac and Sam have pasts to overcome. As Sam works to help rehabilitate Mac's knee, someone with a sniper rifle shoots at them. Was it a rogue hunter or a deliberate attempt on their lives? This story has elements of humor, suspense, romance, and betrayal. The ending really surprised me, I also stayed up much too late to finish this compelling story!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I loved it. The author did an great job of writing a book that had hockey, romance and suspense. The spark between Mac and Samantha was hot. From the moment I started reading their story I was hooked. It was well written and it was fast paced. I cannot wait to see where this series goes next. Skating on Thin Ice if more than just a hockey book. Mac is injured in a game and must rely on the help of Sam to get him back in playing shape. What neither of them understands is what's really going on behind the scenes and just how dangerous their interaction can be. Is there romance? Sure, with some serious chemistry between these two. But there's also drama, heartache, betrayal, danger. An entertaining read from start to finish.

good read. Lots of action, good sexual tension, fade to black sex scenes. Mac is injured taking him out of the game, he's in a mountain cabin recovering, Sam shows up to help him with his PT, even if he's not so pleased. Sam is trying to break into a male dominated field wanting to be part of the training department for the hockey team and this is her chance. Secluded cabin, shots fired and sexual tension, all good ingredients for a suspenseful read.

He just wants to get back to hockey, she is trying to be independent. Neither expected the chemsitry. What happens when there is more at play?

This was a steamy quick sports read. I loved how there was more beneath his surface than the tough hockey exterior. I didn't blame her for wanting to be able to stand on her own two feet and for being hesitant to allow things to happen. Good read and will definitely read more in this series!
