Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

WARNING: THE BOOK IS KID FRIENDLY, MY REVIEW IS NOT!

SUPER FAST REVIEW:
Not as great as the other Biscuit books but still fun.
So keep in mind I love adorable animals but can’t stand babies (well okay I can’t stand most humans but definitely not babies, as in Archer’s Cheryl Tunt is one of the TV characters I relate most too).

(If alternate universes are real some female version of me has probably said this in a serious discussion)
So I still liked the artwork and Biscuit is absolutely adorable as always! It’s also very funny at times (I especially thought it was hilarious when ). The final line in the book is nice.
I wasn’t into the story as much as I was the previous books in the series and while it’s sometimes cute, I wasn’t saying “aww” and thinking “oh this book is so cute!” as much because the scenario wasn’t as cute to me.
So yeah still a fun short read that was nice to read to my little puppy (who started snarking at it towards the end as she feels the same way I do about babies and small children) but not as good as the previous ones.

4/5

PS- When putting this book in my currently reading list my phone’s next word suggestion thing as I typed this one in suggested “Biscuit and The Purge” for some reason so I kinda wanna see that now.
“Woof woof!
Biscuit’s ready to murder!”

There's a newborn infant in Biscuit's house. The little girl of the series is run ragged keeping the mischievous puppy away from all the new baby toys and trying to prevent his barking from rousing baby from its nap.

Still cute, but the vagueness of the humans with their lack of names and even gender for the baby feels increasingly weird. Is there some book or even author's interview where the little girl's name is revealed?

I read this book to my kids each time I had a new baby and it was really helpful. It gave a little perspective on how they might feel and a bit of what to expect. The book is short and great for little kids or new readers.

Part of our “Summer Expectations” is reading for the kids - which will obviously start off slow with the new reader. This was our first day and our first book. Contractions caught her off guard and there were some longer words - so a bit hard for a beginner. Cute story though.

Also “booties”….. not something that we really used in Central Texas, so my kids do not know what they are.

The puppy Biscuit wants to see the new baby, but he has to wait and be quiet. Probably a good book for older siblings with a new brother or sister. Not a book for me, though--I kept thinking, "Why don't they just get rid of the puppy?" Haha.

Early reader

This I Can Read book tells the story of Biscuit the dog meeting the new baby. The pictures give a warm, fuzzy feeling to the reader. I would encourage early readers to try this book. It's a sweet story, much like what many of them experience when they have a new baby brother or sister.

Elliot loves the Biscuit books, and this one was fun because it was about a new baby. Elliot will be a big brother next month, so it was a fun book to read and discuss what he thinks his baby sister will be like

A sweet and pleasant story about a dog who wants to meet a baby. I found the mischief in the story to be a nice touch.

Absolutely precious. Tot was very excited to discuss the baby. It seems she has already totally forgotten she ever was one.

These books are very short, very repetitive, very predictable, very simple.

Great early readers.

They could also be great for toddlers and babies, who use that repetition to learn to speak, but they're written so simply that you'll be bored to tears after reading the book more than three times. And you can read these books several times in one sitting, they're that short.

Give them to your kid when they start reading and insist that THEY read the books - not you. Do not fall into the trap of reading them. Ever. If your kid is like the ones I know, they'll fall in love and you'll be trapped.

Incidentally, in this book, the endpapers show a baby bottle. No baby feeding is shown in the book itself, but if you're an avid lactivist, you may want to check the book out before buying it.

Biscuit has a new baby in the family and he is so excited to meet the new member of the family. The time that Biscuit wants to meet the baby it is sleeping and he will have to wait. While he is waiting Biscuit investigates some of the new baby items that are laying around the house. He plays with a baby rattle, a blanket, and even chews on a baby booties. This is a great book for young readers and anyone that has a new baby coming into the house. It shows patience and respect and how waiting for something results in a better outcome.

A sweet little book about the puppy Biscuit, and his family has just had a new baby. This is a very good watered down example of what you will go through having pets in the house with a newborn. There is just so much that was left out, but considering that this book was written for two to six year olds it can be excused.
The artstyle was very well done, and I experienced a little nostalgia while reading this to my daughter.
Cheers and Happy Reading Kids!

Great, cute story for your young readers. This is one of many in a good size series of beginning reader books. However, this one is also good for that preschooler or Kindergartener who is about to welcome a sibling for the first time. I love books that are also relatable for your readers, it adds motivation to get through the story. This book also offers lots of variation in punctuation and specifically exclamation marks.

This is a very simple early learning book. Biscuit is curious about a new baby in the house. Biscuit wants to meet the baby but baby is sleeping...so he has to wait and waiting isn't easy. Then baby starts to cry and scares Biscuit but everything is okay... it's time to meet the baby and baby to meet a new friend!
