Megan Cline has created an adorable series of books based around a precious Wombat personified as a little fellow named Winston who is learning how to do new things. Young children can easily become overwhelmed and frustrated when trying new things. In each book (Winston Winks, Winston’s Wet and Winston Wiggles) the curious and thoughtful little wombat lead character tries hard to master each new skill with his family’s support and practice. The importance of patience and understanding is at the ...more

Really cute book, simple concept and lovely illustrations. Little Winston is determined to learn how to wink. He’s trying his best but it’s not easy. Winston finds comfort in the wise words of his mother. I feel like the author managed to capture the feeling of being a little kid quite well. As I read this I was reminded of times as a kid in similar situations, where I just decided I needed to learn how to do something, like how to ride a bike or tie my shoelaces.

Winking hurts! Well, it does if you close both eyes at once and run into something,

Little wombat Winston learned that winking and walking have things in common, at least the learning to do them. This is a charming little book with dear illustrations. My granddaughter is getting Winston stories for her birthday.
