Wild,Wild Rake is book 6 in the Cavensham Heiresses series by Janna MacGregor. I have to say I adored the characters in this book. Vicar Devan Farris is a wonderfully delicious hero. It is rare to find a romance that portrays a man of integrity and honor. Devan is all that and more. But his romance has anything but an easy start. In fact, this is more of an enemies to lovers trope. I struggled at first with Devan’s teasing manner towards the heroine- Avalon Warwyk. But as the story progressed, I ...more

"It helps with your parish members, particularly the choir, if you can carry a tune.' He dipped his head lower, then placed his lips on a pulse of her neck. "Does it help me with you?"

I will not lie-- I love hot priests. I realize that this seems like a very specific kink but in romancelandia, hot priests are (fairely) well-represented amongst the cannon of 'book boyfriends'. 'Wild, Wild Rake' offers another sexy priest that we can get behind.

However, despite how much I love hot priests, I

Loved this book! It's historical, the vicar is a hot virgin and Lady Avalon's chance to find love again.
It took me a few chapters to adjust to the pacing and language of the book. But once I found my rhythm I found an appreciation for their witty banter.

In the beginning, Mr Devan Farris, vicar, is sent by his brother to spy on Lady Warwyck. Devan agrees to go, glad to help with her son young lord Thane to ensure he receives the necessary training and education. But his brother must tell her he

Lady Avalon was secretly relieved when her cruel husband died nine years ago, not long after the birth of their son. Since then, she’s spent her time and funds helping women in need. When the new vicar in town turns out to be Devan Ferris, brother of her son’s guardian and notorious rake, she wants nothing to do with him. But when Devan’s kindness and generosity don’t match his reputation, Avalon isn’t sure what to think. Plus he’s inconveniently handsome. And he seems to like her, with his ...more

This is by far the most romantic book in the Cavensham series. The deep love and affection that develops between Avalon and Devan was a joy to read. The words and phrases they use to express their feelings are exquisitely beautiful.

Years ago Avalon Warwyk abruptly jilted William Cavensham. Devan Farris, close friend of William’s, has been assigned as the vicar in Avalon’s village and to keep tabs on her since his brother is Avalon’s son’s guardian. The guardian thinks her recent spending is

Thanks to netgalley for providing me a copy of this book to read and review.
I have read all the books in this series n i think with each book the author gets better and better. While waiting for the next book I often get dissapointed because the book doesn't live up to its expectation. I m happy to say Wild, wild rake met my expectations beautifully. Jaana 's stories make us believe that nice men like Devan, William exist and people do have wonderful love stories. For a chance our hero is a

What a wonderful romance. I’m in love again. I was gifted this book and I’m so glad I was able to read it. I am not going to re-write the book. The author has done a fabulous job. I am going to tell you about the emotions emotions that I want you to read this book. We have villains. And we have heroes. We have strong characters. We have a woman who is so horribly treated. We are the hero who is allowed people to believe he had a tattered reputation. We’re finally together. However the past has ...more

This is a wonderful historical romance between a tragic widow and a innocent vicar. Avalon was in a cruel marriage when her husband died, leaving her alone with their son. As a marchioness, she finds her calling in helping young women in unfortunate circumstances. Devon is an innocent vicar sent to spy on her.

I loved how the sparks flew when Avalon and Devon were thrown together. They had a sweet romance develop, with neither knowing what to do or how to interact with the other. Additionally,

I enjoyed these characters very much! Both Avalon and Devan are beneficiaries of gossip and misinformation. Avalon has the reputation of a heartbreaker who married for title and money. That suits her widowhood as she never wants to risk her heart again to a man. Devan is a fourth son who wanted to go into the military but was steered to the Church instead. To his credit he is a caring minister who loves to flirt when he is not ministering. He relishes the exaggerated and flat-out invented ...more

Avalon has been reviled for so long for marrying a marquess instead of William years ago, but the truth is far different. Her parents forced her into an unhappy marriage to a man who hated her, but died not long after they were wed. Now, ten years later she is raising their son and Devan is sent as the new vicar to spy on her. He realizes how wrong he has been about her and they fall in love.

Sweet romance and Avalon deserves happiness after what she has endured. Devan has a reputation as a rake,

I have read all the previous books in this series and fell in love with the Cavensham family from the start. This is the last book I believe and I am super sad about it! Im not ready to say goodbye these characters! Avalon and Devan have spent so much of their past hating each other that when fate throws them together and they realize how much in common they have... well... they cant seem to remember why they didn't like each other to begin with! I loved reading this one! Not everyone is as they ...more

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was not taken with this novel. The language was difficult to follow and the characters bland. Lady Avalon is outcastes by her husband and finds freedom in exchange. She dedicates her life to helping fallen women become financially independent. While that is admirable I found her character to be too unyielding and unforgiven. The hero is initially a perpetrator but turns benevolent when he learns of her true experience.

Wild, Wild Rake is a phenomenal historical romance by Janna MacGregor. Ms. MacGregor has provided readers with a well-written book and filled it with a spectacular cast of characters. The Marquess of Warwyk was forced into marriage and hated his wife, not for anything she did, but it didn't stop him from beating her down with lies to anyone that would listen. Avalon is sent to live in a village with her son and has raised him without a father. She's not heartbroken when she becomes a widow. ...more

There are many extremes in this book. The first is the extremely cruel first husband of Avalon. The second extreme is Avalon befriending her husband’s mistress whom he treated like a queen. The third was the supposedly rakish vicar. I was okay with the book, but I was uncomfortable with the final chapters where Devan keeps claiming that he misportrayed himself and he is and never will be worthy of Avalon. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

ARC via Edelweiss & NetGalley (I got two copies from two sources)

Trope: Hot (Virgin) Priest
Unexpected Twist/Subplot: Wife befriends late's Husband's Mistress, and helps women who want to get out of Prostitution in London by setting up charities and places to live in the Parish where she lives.

It was a nice change of pace to see some different subplots in a HEA romance. Quick Read. Recommend.

Very romantic! Devan is the ultimate hero! He has a racy reputation, gorgeous as all get out, but godly and true. His teasing of Avalon is endearing and how quickly he instilled himself in the community is a testament to his character. Avalon gets the marriage and romance she has been denied, but it all happens too quickly for her to trust her feelings and Devan.

One of the secondary characters, Penelope, is someone that I'd like to shake some since into. I actually had to put the book in timeout for a few minutes to calm down. I love how both Avalon and Devan handles it though. I truly did enjoy reading, Wild, Wild Rake.

Oh what a wonderful heart jerking read. This two have everything fighting them but a determined man and a forgiving woman finally make this work. A wonderful love story about two hearts that had given up on finding true love. Very enjoyable.
