So I did read this novel more than once, and have a lot of very strong opinions about it.

First, it seems to me the author is losing his hair. He keeps combing it to try to hide this incipient baldness, but I’m not buying it.

Plus, he’s never been particularly attractive, but since he went on this big “diet” he talks incessantly about, he’s been opening the refrigerator and stuffing cheese in his mouth. He’s gained about ten very unsightly pounds.

When he sneaks the cheese, he creeps around, not

I've never seen the movies or read any of these books. That will all change now! I fell in love with this title about a special dog. I loved the story and what it stood for and can't wait to read more.

A Dog’s Promise

I remember the first time I read “A Dog’s Purpose”, the first in the series of three books written by W. Bruce Cameron about a dog named Bailey. The book had just come out and it was revolutionary in that it was narrated by a dog and gave insight into how dogs view the world and the people around them. At the time, I was a new dog person, having adopted my first pup several years before and had added a second one to our family. My dogs were still young then and I wasn’t thinking

A Dog’s Promise is a sequel to A Dog’s Journey. I didn’t know that until after I finished, but it reads well as a stand alone.
This is a marvellously written book, entirely from a dog’s point of view. It makes you question some of your own actions as seen through a loyal dog’s eyes.
The book spans many dog years as well as human years and as life does, animals and people age, get sick or hurt and we lose them to death. It’s very sad, but it’s God’s plan. I felt a ton of different emotions as I

As an original fan of A Dog's Purpose I have been lucky enough once again to be given an ARC by the amazing publisher of W. Bruce Cameron.

I have to say, as much as I love this author, as much as I love the movies that get made from his books (A Dog's Journey, which is A Dog's Purpose #2 is easily the best of the three movies) I had some trepidation. I thought to myself, will I be tired of hearing the ongoing adventures of Bailey, Bailey, Bailey which I

I am so grateful to NetGalley for the ARC of this novel! I love all of W. Bruce Cameron's novels, so I was very excited to read the third book in the Dog's Purpose series. It was just as I expected and then some. Beautifully written, I laughed, I cried (several times), I gasped. It was such a wonderful story. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll just say that it ends by wrapping everything up like a Christmas present and plops a big bow right on top. Fantastic!

Being a huge fan of a Dog's purpose and a Dog's Journey and Bailey is such a heartwarming dog that you could not help but follow Bailey along in his adventures and see the joy he brings to everyone he meets. This time he is joined by Lacey who is just as sweet if not a sweeter dog than Bailey and Bailey stops at nothing to

I absolutely love this series. It's great to think a loved dog will come back to us over and over again to help us through life, and through the next generations. That's exactly what Bailey does, or should I say Cooper as that was his first name in this book.

A Dog's Promise made me laugh and cry. Cooper is a dog meant to help people, whether emotionally upset or needing physical assistance. He saves families and lives.

“There they were … everyone I’d ever loved in my life. … I was a good dog, and this was my reward. Now I would get to be with the people I loved. I turned, whimpering with joy, and swam toward those golden shores.” – Conclusion of “A Dog’s Journey,” the second of three novels in W. Bruce Cameron's series
Seven years ago, W. Bruce Cameron concluded “A Dog’s Journey,” the sequel to his beloved “A Dog’s Purpose,” so lovingly, so perfectly that it left readers not only pleased with the result but

Well, as I sit here crying, and wondering why I read this book, knowing that this would happen...
Cameron’s “A Dog’s Purpose” series is delightful, touching, heart-warming and heart-breaking. Anyone who has ever owned, loved and cared for a dog knows that at some point there will be a sad ending. If you have lived as long as I have, there probably have been several of these events. My family just lost Panda, our 15-year-old Border Collie family member. It was difficult and painful for each of us.

This is the third book in A Dog’s Purpose series. And just like the first two I loved it.

Bailey is back! But this time, he doesn’t remember anything! But that is okay. It was great to see Bailey start all over. This time with a new boy who really needs his help.

Burke is paralyzed from the waist down, since birth. And his

I admit to being a total sucker for dog stories; there are many good ones out there, and the first two of Cameron's series are no exception. I liked this one less only in comparison. Bailey, in his new incarnations, and the other dogs are just as lovely and engaging as ever. It's the humans in this third book that I found less sympathetic and authentic, and it is the human plot that seems somewhat contrived and implausible. Nevertheless, I was happy to read it to complete Bailey's story.

I am very much a dog lover and dog book lover, and Mr. Cameron 's books are the best. I have read all the Dog Purpose books and this one was the best!! It was so good to see Bailey, Ethan and family again. There was romance, family issues and amazing dogs. I highly recommend this book and all Mr. Cameron 's dog books. They will bring a tear to your eye and smile to your face :)

W. Bruce Cameron has done it again! Another beautifully written, heartwarming installment in the "Dog's Purpose" series. This one finds Bailey being reborn again to fulfill a promise to his beloved human, Ethan. Helping along his journey is his soul mate, Lacey, another very special dog who plays many roles in his quest. This book touched my heart and like the others in the series left me with a sense of love and comfort. By allowing us to see the world from a dog's perspective, it's no surprise ...more

A sweet story that continues the many lives of a special dog and his unique way of helping the people he loves. As Cooper, he is now helping a young boy who is wheelchair-bound and lives on a farm. The farm is in trouble and part of that trouble stems from the large corporate farming nearby and the Asian family who works for them. Racial tension, small-town farming vs. big corporate farming practices, sibling rivalry, friendship and dealing with disabilities all play a role in this story. For ...more

Even though the book’s writing does not blow you away, the simpleness of it is endearing. And even though it seems repetitive and predictable at still has that way of sucking you in and not letting go...Plus, I’m a sucker for creative and funny dog books :-) Great ending, very full circle story. Would read another one of these books in a heartbeat.

There are angels among us. I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of A Dog's Promise and could not wait to read it. After having my own very personal, and very real experience with an angel dog, the subject matter of this book was very near and dear to my heart, and it was everything I could have hoped it would be, and more. Beautifully written. Heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny, and inspiring. Although a continuation of the A Dog's Purpose story, all three books in the series ...more

I have been an Ambassador for Bruce’s books and movies for over 2 years! He is by far my favorite author, I am always honored to share my love of his work. What I do is by choice, Bruce is brilliant, funny and true to himself.

I received an ARC from the publisher and was beyond excited!

A Dog’s Promise aka A Dog’s Purpose 3 is the continuation of Bailey’s journey as an Angel Dog! Of course with all of Bruce’s book you will laugh, cry and hug your dog.
Because of his books and movies I look at dogs

I won't spoil anything but I will say it is another exciting and heartwarming book. Bailey, the beloved star of A Dog's Purpose (5 stars) and A Dog's Journey (4 stars) by W. Bruce Cameron returns in the third installment in the series to fulfill "a dog's promise." And, this time, he has a dog friend named Lacey!

Like the previous books in this series, this story about two brothers, Grant and Burke, being raised by a single dad, Chase, brought tears to my eyes several times. Yet, it also made me laugh out loud as well. Yes, the dog dies (over and over again)... but he also is

If W Bruce Cameron were to start a religion, I would want to be a high priestess. In this third installment of his “A Dog’s Purpose” stories we are presented with a glimpse of the afterlife that exceeds any other version I’ve ever heard of before. In this perfect golden place, dogs, and the people who have loved them, exist in joy, peace and harmony, with an awareness of the lives and people they left behind. In this book, Bailey, who is now an angel dog along with his people, is sent back to ...more
