Very sweet, Darcy returns to Netherfield and is stranded alone. Seeking out company he spends time with Elizabeth. Caroline has not as flat a character in this short story. While she does want Darcy and higher social standing, we do get to hear her thoughts and her love for her brother does at times being her conflict.
A short story, very pleasant The scene is well set within the heavy snow of Meryton . Caroline Bingley's character seems well written and in keeping with the original, scheming and manipulative. In fairness the other characters have a passing resemblance to the original too. A unexpectedly quiet Christmas for the Bennet's is enhanced by Darcy's unexpected return to an empty Netherfield just as heavy snowfall restricts travel. As the weather improves Bingley and his sister return for New Year as well, and so the story beats its well trodden path.
This was a really fun Pride and Prejudice Variation with some fun winter and Christmas elements added in as background. I enjoyed seeing how Elizabeth and Darcy became closer and eventually end up together in this novella as well as several other characters. Mr. & Mrs. Bennet seem to genuinely care about one another in this story which is nice since it's not always the case and poor Mary who was teased by Lydia and Kitty wasn't as dull as her sisters thought although she didn't get much real opportunity to shine in this story, just a hint of potential. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
This short novel takes a slightly different path to the HEA and is true to canon. There are just a few typos that are bothersome. The plot is very straightforward and one wishes for a more interesting story.
Darcy comes back to Netherfield alone and finds himself snowed in and gravitating towards Longbourn. It was sweet although I thought it was a bit inappropriate how he invited dinner guests to the house he wasn't the master of. Part of a box set.
