Admittedly, I'm not much of a cook, or rather, I can cook but I don't like to. When I looked through this book, I actually felt a bit of excitement again about cooking. It's a beautiful book. The pictures are lovely and appetizing. The recipes don't seem insanely difficult, and there are many I can make with my kids. I like the spiral bound form

There is much to love about this cookbook. It is very similar to “Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Friends Gatherings Cookbook” in format and design. It features spiral, lay-flat binding and gorgeous color photos throughout, as well as glossy pages that are easy to wipe off if lightly sullied by ingredients. Brunstetter opens her “Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook” with a concise history of the Amish and Mennonites and a succint description of an Amish Christmas, which focuses foremost on the birth o ...more

Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook
A beautiful and quality cookbook by Wanda E. Brunstetter. Wanda has given us recipes that are made by in Amish in their own homes. She has included the history and traditions of families that follow the Amish ways. This culture is often expressed by the foods that they prepare. If you have ever had meals made by an Amish person you will know that these recipes are very good.
I knew I must try a few recipes. I started with Apple Pancake. Oh my, Yum!! My husband an

Another blue ribbon winning cookbook by Wanda Brunstetter. The binding permits laying the sleek pages flat therefore you don’t lose your place when using a recipe. I love the Introduction which also includes scripture for the Christmas season. The Contents Page is large enough to easily see the sections in red and the informative pages about Amish life in green. The beautiful pictures are frame worthy. Each recipe gives credit to the contributor and where they are from. All around beautiful as w

This cookbook is honestly one of the best I have ever seen! Of course there are a lot of delicious recipes, but there is so much more! The Dale Yoder photography on the cover and throughout the book is just gorgeous. Each photo made me want to visit Amish Country. There are also special pages between recipes that have facts about the Amish and their way of life. One of my favorite things about this cookbook is the use of Bible verses throughout. It's such an inspiration and a reminder that God i ...more

This is a nice collection of recipes for the holidays or any time. This cookbook is spiral bound and the perfect size to have open on your counter to read from while you are cooking and baking. There are plenty of pictures and it is easy to read. My favorite section of this cookbook is "Gifts from the Kitchen". It has some non-food items such as homemade potpourri, good deed jars, and even silly putty. This section also has recipes to give away ingredients in jars which I always think are great ...more

Looking for some new-to-you, but traditional, time-trusted recipes for your Christmas (and other) celebrations? Look no farther. Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook is full of delicious family favorites, straight from our Amish and Mennonite friends. I have had the honor to eat with some Amish families. Our hosts were gracious, and food was plentiful and delicious. The family-centered meals brought with them a sense of gratitude for our families and for the God who has blessed us with them.

What a joy to browse this lovely cookbook. It is more than just a compilation of recipes. It is truly a beautiful book that sprinkles pinches and dashes of Scripture throughout, has lovely pictures of Winter scenes as well as prepared food, and short essays on Amish life and Amish Christmas celebrations.

I thought, with an inward chuckle, that I have many of these same (or recipe-cousins) recipes that I have prepared through the ages and they are simply good stuff. But I also chuckled

I love cookbooks and the Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook by Wanda E. Brunstetter is wonderful. There are beautiful color pictures for many of the over 200 recipes that are from Amish and Mennonite cooks--their names are given with each recipe! Included at the back of the book are three indexes--one of the contributor's names, one listing recipes by section and the third lists the recipes by key ingredients. There are scripture verses and several short articles about Amish traditions around the ...more

I really enjoyed this cookbook. I love cookbooks. I enjoyed reading about some of the Amish history and their Christmas traditions. The recipes come from all parts of the country. Some old family recipes I'm sure. I marked several on my first go through of the book and I'm sure I will try many. There are recipes from appetizers, snacks to entrees and side dishes and of course cookies, pies, cakes and other sweet treats. I'm thankful to ad this cookbook to my collection. I was lucky enough to be chosen to read and review Wanda Brunstetter’s “Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook”. Since cooking and recipes are hobbies of mine, I was excited to do this. I have also written two cookbooks of family recipes, one of which was self-published, the other awaiting finalization.

I love Amish cooking and we are frequent visitors to Shipshewana, Indiana, an Amish community in northern Indiana. It’s such a peaceful place and along with that we enjoy the wonderful food

For those who like to read cookbooks like novels....like I do....you will LOVE this book!! It makes you think of Christmas no matter what time of year it is. The recipes are things I can make with what is already in my pantry. Nothing exotic that the kids turn their noses up to and nothing that will break the bank!! It is nice to sit, with a warm cup of spiced tea and plan your new recipes for this upcoming holiday....you will love this book and so will your family!!
