I have been following Alex’s blog for years and I finally got my hands on her very first cookbook. I have tried a few but I can’t wait to make my way through the rest of these recipes this year.

Love love love this cookbook! The steak street tacos and the grain free chicken no-parm are a favorite for us! Absolutely love that there are pictures for every recipe!

I’ve been following Alex on Instagram after a bunch of other cooking account tagged her in stories. I made one of her dairy free dishes from her blog for me and my boyfriend. I’m not 100% lactose intolerant but heavy amounts does irritate my body. The recipe was a hit!! Even my boyfriend loved it which says a lot since he hates nut substitutes for anything. Since then we’ve been making Alex’s dishes. I was super excited when I heard she was coming out with a book. Last week target and amazon had ...more

The Defined Dish is my kind of cookbook. It's super straightforward (with juuust the right amount of backstory/narrative)—and more importantly, the meals are delicious, Paleo-friendly, and come together in half an hour at most. (Unless it's crockpot, which, how much easier can you get!)

I followed Alex's blog and Instagram before I was gifted the book, so I was familiar with her recipes but hadn't cooked many until now. (Why I didn't start sooner, I'll never know.) My husband and I are amazed by

I was sent this book for a review and I wasn't sure what to expect as I wasn't familiar with Alex Snodgrass or her blog. But I am pleasantly surprised by this book. The book is beautifully photographed and the smiling author radiates true joy for her cooking and her family's good health. The recipes are fresh and simple with some fun twists on old favorites. I tried several of the recipes and they were easy, tasty and I knew I'd absolutely make them again. This book is especially great for quick ...more

This cookbook was an enjoyable one to flip through, mostly because it is Whole30 endorsed, which means I can easily find the dairy-free and gluten-free recipes that I need. I didn't find any game-changer recipes, and many of the dishes I did like weren't original enough for me to pull out the cookbook and make again. I did enjoy flipping through this book, looking at photos, and getting dinner ideas (whether I used recipes in the book or not). It wasn't a bad cookbook by any means, especially if ...more

This cookbook has become a staple in our home this year! I’ve followed Alex for a few years and have found her recipes to be a great go-to for weekday meals. Her recipes are simple, eclectic, healthy, and easy to modify.

We’ve loved so many of the meals from this cookbook. The Cajun jambalaya is fantastic (we use rice instead of cauliflower rice), black pepper chicken, chipotle chicken tostadas... everything we’ve made has been a hit! We had the lemony Greek potato soup tonight and it was wonder

Best cookbook I’ve ever owned. Alex Snodgrass makes it easy to tackle every dish with simple & delicious combinations of ingredients, clear & detailed instruction, & beautiful images of every recipe. When you get your copy, try the following recipes: walnut crusted scallops with butternut squash, crispy slow cooker carnitas, Greek lemon and oregano soup, Mongolian beef stir-fry, & brussels sprout salad with honey-mustard vinaigrette!

I love this book so much. I made the grain free chicken Parmesan and it didn’t disappoint. The photos are gorgeous and the good so approachable - especially for a book endorsed by the Whole30 program. Instead of feeling like I’m missing something by going grain or dairy free, Alex makes me excited to try her dishes.

Approachable. Not preachy. Doable. And utterly delicious.
Includes Southern favorites and we never felt we were on a "diet".
We've solidly resisted going down the Whole30 path until I found this cookbook. It changed everything so more than a 30 day program, we have been eating from this and "No Crumbs Left" well past the 30. If I were Oprah, I'd be giving this to everyone.

Every recipe is fantastic. I made meatloaf meatballs last night and they are perfect. Her paleo Reuben is on constant repeat. The Korean beef recipe is really my fav. I think I’ve made it 6 times since I got her book in the spring. Her photos are lovely and the recipes are clearly well tested. I follow Alex on Instagram and I love her. She’s sweet, funny, real, and inspirational.

I am not usually a fan of “healthy” recipes, but these are fabulous! We have tried at least 12 of the recipes and have love all of them. Alex does not sacrifice flavor for healthy. I would recommend to anyone who likes good food.

Seems like a pretty good cookbook, especially for anyone who is better with their eating or follows Whole30. I like the authors message. I am excited to try some of them and if I get better with my eating maybe there will be even more to try. :)

I do actually feel like these recipes are practical home cook meals. It was also well-organized and labeled - e.g. which recipes are gluten-free vs. dairy-free etc. Lovely pictures
