The depth of the interactions and level of trust forged between the men and dogs in the K9 series continues to warm my heart and feed my soul. After Ethan’s success in rescuing Sentry, Badger assigns Pierce Carlton to determine the whereabouts and condition of war-dog Salem, a black female shepherd. Like Sentry, Salem had been released to live with her handler, Pete Lowry in Fort Collins, CO. Life got in the way when Pete had to be admitted to a rehabilitative nursing home about an hour away, le ...more

This is a great spin off series from Seals books by Dale Mayer. When Badger gets a call from Commander Cross asking for a favor. When Badger asks Pierce if he's interested in being a part of the the team to find the war dogs an make sure that they are being cared for .Pierce said he's good with animals but when they said not to get attached to the dogs because they may be sent to someone else or on a special assignment Pierce knew he couldn't do it.So he was given Pete's dog to check on.Pete assi ...more

Pierce is the second book of Dale Mayer's K9 series. Like in other books in this series, human and canine characters hold the key roles, and the focus of the story lies in the interactions and the relationships between them.
The plot is particularly rich, with a comprehensive cast of characters, whose intertwined tales create a lively and multi-faceted picture of the small community where the narrative is set.
Both protagonists have unusual and intriguing personalities.

This series is really gearing up! This is a fantastic story about a group of military trained dogs retired/discharged from the military who lost track of them along the way through budget cuts and the like.

Pierce is a war veteran himself and has his own scars to prove it. He is on a mission as a favor to a Commander to help find a particular war dog. He finds the K9 he is looking for, but Salem has been abused and neglected. Pierce is going to do everything in his power to save this dog, he

I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 2 of 3 (so far) in The K9 Files series. This book centers around Pierce and Hedi.

Pierce former Navy K9 handler is severely injured and his dog, Trigger killed. Now, Pierce is out of the Navy and tasked by Titanium Security (see SEALs Of Steel series) to locate/rescue one of a about 12 dogs potentially in trouble that had gone missing or were in bad situations. The dog assigned to Pierce to follow up on is
(4.5) One I started, I read this straight through, well done! We continue the new series K9 Files with Pierce. He is a member of the Titanium Corporation and searching for Salem. Salem came home with his wounded handler,Pete. Circumstances puts Pete in rehab and his dog Salem is missing. Book 2 is a little shorter than book 1, but still packs a wallop. As Pierce searches for Salem, with the help of Deputy Heidi he realizes that most of the Sheriff office is corrupt, Pete has been done wrong (not ...more

Pierce wasn't sure he was ready to join the Titanium group, but when he heard this assignment he had to take it. Pete was in rehab and his dog Salem had fallen through the cracks of the system. When he arrives in town he stops at the diner and gathers unexpected intel on the dog. She'd bitten someone and was caged at the sheriff's office.

The Sheriff leaves much to be desired, but one of his deputies Hedi was someone Pierce could respect and support.

As the sheriff is dismissive of Salem, Hedi was

Another great instalment in the K9 series with another veteran, Pierce getting his story and meeting the one, Heidi. Pierce is on the hunt for Salem, a K9 who is being used and abused by his current owners and the dog happened to escape, brining chaos to a small town and the people in it fearing him. Pierce is on a mission to find the dog and reunite him with his owner from the military, Pete. Along the way he runs into a deputy, Heidi, who has her own struggles in the Sheriff’s department and i ...more

K9 Files Series Book Two
Pierce Carlton was at loose ends, so when Titanium Corp had a job for some of the guys who worked the K9 unit, he accepted. A War Dog, Salem, had fallen through the cracks when her owner ended up not being able to take care of her. She needed to be checked up on. Sounded simple enough, but nothing is ever simple.

Hedi liked being a deputy, sadly she was the only one on their small force who took her job seriously. And the sheriff...she had no respect fo

Pierce: K9 Files, Book 2

Titanium Corp (founded by the members from SEALs of Steel) has tasked Pierce Carlton with the mission to locate a Veteran War Dog named Salem, who went missing after her wounded Handler was forced into a rehab unit due to his injuries.

However, no one anticipated that Pierce would walk into an area where not only was the dog in serious trouble, but also her Veteran (Pete Lowery) and the community itself.

Deputy Hedi Miller is one of a handful of folks who steps up to suppor

Veteran Pierce is on the hunt for Salem - a missing K9 veteran who has become missing after his veteran handler Pete was stuck in a hospital in recovery. When he arrives in Colorado it becomes clear that she has been labelled as dangerous and now the law is involved. It seems no one has Salen's bests interests at heart and it appears they don't seem to see Pete as anyone other than someone to forget while they take everything that is his. Pierce is determined to change all that no matter what an ...more

Salem is a war dog a hero and now assigned to Pete. Pete is ill and in a nursing home to help him heal and Salem is suppose to be being taken care of by Petes brother.
Pierce is a veteran that was asked to check on the War Dogs who had come home and been assigned to familys. Some were missing and or not being treated with the respect they had earned.
Pierce heads to Colorado to find Salem and finds a lot more. This story is heart breaking and full of love and trust. I cannot say much more without

Pierce is off to Colorado to find Salem, a missing K9 who is a former military dog. He (Pierce) finds much more on this endeavor. Pete, Salem's partner, is now back in rehab and his brother, Ross, has volunteered to take care of Salem at Pete's home. This is much worse than it sounds as Ross is actually not caring for the dog, the property or the home but rather taking Pete's retirement money and planning to leave. Along the way we meet a lazy sheriff, his equally lazy deputies and some icky res ...more

This is a wonderful series - highlighting SEALs who are dealing with injuries and getting their lives back together. Then there are the K9 dogs - who can resist being touched by how horribly some of these animals have been treated yet they respond when they are showed kindness.

In this story, Pierce is sent to find Salem. But as he starts digging into Salem's disappearance, he learns of what happened to Pete - Salem's owner and a SEAL. And the story wouldn't be complete without their being a fem

This series gets better with each book

I enjoyed the first book but this one was even better!
Pierce is the most sociable of the Titanium Corps SEAL's we meet, most are completely withdrawn but Pierce is functioning better than most in civilian life. That is until he is sent to Arrowhead, Colorado to try and locate Salem where he finds the gorgeous Hedi fighting a losing battle against a dirty Sheriff, abusive residents, a brother stealing from an injured veteran and a K9 suffering with PTSD who h

Pierce is ex-military after being severely injured. With multiple internal injuries and the loss of one of his legs he was expected to live. After what must have been years Pierce is working for Titanium Company which is a group of ex-Navy Seals who were all hurt in the same bombing. (Read their stories in the Seals of Steel series.) Pierce is sent to Colorado to find Salem, a ex-War Dog who was separated from his handler, Pete, and no one can find her.

This author never disappoints. The suspens

The story will grab you and make it hard to put down, the characters are fantastic.
The second book in the K-9 files Sends Pierce to Colorado to check on Salem a retired War Dog and to help if he can. He finds that there is a lot of things wrong.
I love Pierce’s attitude and how he reacts to the situation that Pete (Salem’s handler) is in. Hedi a deputy that wants to help has to deal with an all male Sheriff’s Department and a very prejudice Sheriff who thinks women should be at home cooking.

As Pierce continues to investigate, he discovers that Pete, an injured veteran who partnered with Salem, is also being taken advantage of by his brother. Pierce wants to help both Pete and Salem but there those in town that oppose them. His strongest ally is Hedi, a local deputy. I received a free copy of this book from the author th ...more

With that also comes others willing to stand with them. Fantastic plot, a flow that had me reading till I finished it, great new series and dogs to brea ...more

Another great story from the new series of Ms. Mayer. Another mission to save a beloved war dog of a wounded vet. How could someone see a dog as a mere object was beyond me. They’re the most loyal friend to a human.

So, what I loved most about this book, aside from the front and centre role of the dog, was the main characters. They had positive attitude that shone through each page. It’s easy to focus on the story with positive characters. Made me rooted for them.

This is book 2 in the K-9 Files series and it features Pierce and Hedi. Pierce is a man of honor. These two hit it off as friends pretty quickly. In a town full of corruption, the good guys tend to gravitate towards each other. The story really tugged at my heart strings. Helping a rehabilitating veteran and his canine veteran war dog stay together, makes for a fabulous read!

The action and suspense were great. Even though the story line was amazing, the romance was little on the slow side. Char

This is the second book in the series and it was a good as the first one. I got sucked right into this story and I couldn't put it down. There were many times this book has me on the edge of my seat. There are some nasty people living in the town and when Pierce comes he really shakes things up. You got to love an alpha male that has a heart of gold. I loved this book, the 2nd in the new K9 Files series. The book is about K9 military dogs and how they are released/discharged from the military due to PTSD, illness and/or injury. The book grabs you from the very start and doesn't let go. It keeps you turning the pages as the story unfolds and becomes very intense. Oh what an intense suspense story, my heart racing most of the times.
Police corruption, abusers, bullies, gunfight, good guys vs bad guys, yes everything is making me on the edge of my seat, I keep turning page after page, there's no stopping for me. The suspense in this book is thicker and more intense than the previous book, not much actions involving the dog as much as I wanted to, and I kinda wished there's a little bit more the sweet love moments between Pierce and Hedi, but with all those
