This book...….is everything I wanted and more when it comes to reading a Jennifer Sivec book. Heart wrenching and soul searing are just a couple of words I would use to describe The Good One: Part 2. You need to read the first book to get the full impact of Olivia and Danny. You learn so much more from Olivia and are taken on this journey with her as she finally tries to come to terms of what happened with her sister Molly. I love the support Danny has for Olivia through everything. Proving that she is loved and knows how to love in return. You may need a few boxes of tissues for this emotional read. I seriously don't know if my words could do this book justice. My heart is so filled with Olivia and Danny. THIS BOOK AND SERIES IS A NEED TO ONE CLICK.

This was the second part in a duology about a woman haunted by her past and grasping for recovery. What felt like a finished shorter story in the first part is continued in part two with moments of heartbreak, awareness, and joy. The author did a fine job in giving the reader a look into Olivia's life after the last page of book one. Although my copy of The Good One: Part Two is an advanced copy that could possibly incur some changes before publication, I can say that it improves upon the first book and provides closure and a HEA with all of life's imperfections. Overall, I was impressed and happy to be a witness to Olivia's healing.

This is book 2 in the series and in order to understand what is going on, you need to read book 1 first. This is a continuation of the story and it picks up right where book 1 leaves us. Danny and Olivia are divorced, their kids are adults and one of them is missing. Olivia is still battling her demons and the reader can't help but root for her to be able to overcome them and live the life she deserves.

In this book the author spares no emotion. She continues right where she left us, tormented, angry, and rooting for Olivia...but in this one she gives us a missing son, new relationships and college goodbyes. The reader goes through all of the emotions possible...they laugh, cry, cheer, yell, curse, and at times re-write the story in their minds to make it the way that they want it.

Will Olivia ever find out the truth about Molly and how she died? What about Danny and Olivia - are they done forever?!? Do they reunite with their 3 kids? There are a lot of questions, worries and emotions throughout the story, but the author gives the reader the ending they were hoping for and wishing for...this is a complete story that doesn't leave the reader questioning anything. Be prepared to sit down and not want to get up once you start this series! It is one of my favorites so far this year! Author Jennifer Sivec is a must read author and a must read NOW author!!

In this follow up to part one, we continue on with Olivia's story. So much is happening in her life and she is trying her hardest to stay level. But it isn't easy because her daughter Jill is headed off to college and her son Chase is missing. With Ben across the country and Danny having moved on, she is doing her best to put on a good front.

Olivia has made mistakes in her life, mistakes that have hurt those she loves, and the only way to move forward is to confront her past and do her best to make amends. But moving forward isn't easy, especially when the past was determined to tear us apart.

Sivec has done a good job in trying to make whole that which is broken. The ending was a bit bizarre for me, as I didn't fully understand what was going on. But the story leading up to it is heartwarming and healing. It was good to get some closure on Olivia and Danny's story, and I'm pleased to have finished their journey.

This book is the continuation and conclusion to Danny and Olivia's story that began in part one. Overall, I enjoyed it. Both parts one and two are short enough that they could have been released together as a single, full-length novel, so I don't see why the story was broken up into two parts. There was also a very distracting error where a character was repeatedly called by the wrong name; but this is an ARC, so I expect that will likely be corrected before release.

Although I found the story entertaining, I did have some difficulty connecting with the characters. It took me a while to feel truly invested in them. I expected to feel much more than I did - especially with the extremely sensitive nature of the subject matter that was presented. I'm not sure why this was the case. Maybe it's just me. I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone who's interested from giving this duet a try.

*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***

When I finished The Good One part one I couldn't wait for the rest of Olivia's story. It was worth the wait, as I knew it would be. Happily ever after can seem so far out of reach when life has been one struggle after another. Can you really find the bright spot in a life that has been plagued with darkness? Olivia's pain began at a very early age and has continued through her adult life. Tormented by memories and stories she has been told, struggling to hold it all together becomes ever more difficult, but is life going to deal her one more crushing blow? Can she have the life she's always wanted or is she destined to be alone and afraid. What if everything you thought you knew was suddenly one big question mark? Olivia and Danny are faced with one of life's most unbearable situations and it has the power to seal their fate. Happily ever after, or alone and broken, which way will their paths lead?

Part Two takes up the story from Part One, but its now twenty years later.
I found the writing to be darker and more somber than Part One. Majority of the story is told in the present time with fewer flashbacks than Part One. All of these aspects help reflect Olivia's descent into "darkness" and her struggles with her health; her marriage; her children; her memories. She is trying to make sense of her past with her unclear memories.
This is a very raw book that places you almost inside the mind of a depression sufferer.
Despite both books being rather short, the author manages to get the gist of every character across to the reader - with all their faults and strengths.
You cannot read Part Two without having read Part One as the story in Part Two is reliant on the knowledge of what happened in Part One.

The Good One, Part 2 by Jennifer Sivec is the conclusion to a very emotion story of a women tormented by a past that’s so sad and heartbreaking that my heart broke also for her.

Olivia and her sister Molly had a childhood full of abuse and let downs, one that only Olivia had survived, barely!! No matter how hard Olivia tries as an adult her past kept dragging her down and causing her life to constantly fall to pieces. After so many things lost, including her husband Olivia fights to move past it all and be stronger. With one more tragedy to deal with she begins to put the pieces of her life back together and maybe finally she can find the happiness she so much deserves.

This story was so full of sadness and loss that you cannot help but feel the pain deep within your own heart. Olivia is such a strong women and as the story goes on she learns that with love and support people can move past the darkness and allow the light to come in. So very well written Jennifer. Loved every minute of this story.

ONE MIND BLOWING READ!!!
Holy smokes! Wow! This is one gut wretching, nerve racking, hard hitting, nailbiting, page turning rollercoaster ride of emotions that will rip your heart in two. Man, the trials and tribulations that these two main characters have had to deal with relentlessly. They are definitely true to form and on point you have no trouble relating to them as well developed and believable and on course for everything that's happened. I don't know what Jennifer used for inspiration but man she nailed this bad boy. Remarkable job Jennifer, thanks for sharing.

I have been waiting for this book since i read the first one and I am not disappointed at all. This was such an emotional story from page one of the first book to the last one of this book. It was definitely worth the wait. In all that happens between Olivia, Danny, and their kids you will need some tissues while reading. Olivia is struggling with all of the changes in her life and is trying her hardest to make it through. I love all the support she got from Danny and the kids. This series is a definite must read, you will not regret it.

Parts one and two depict what it truly can be like living with a mental illness. The most important thing to remember is that...you...are...enough.
