I picked up this series as a Black Friday special. Sometimes the soul just needs a little tilted love. I read this one right after The Highwayman. It fulfilled my need for a little Highland romance.

I enjoyed the addition of a curse between the McLean's and Campbell's. It was nice to have an actual reasons for the two clans to be feuding instead of just relying on "they have fought for as long as anyone can remember" line that is common.

Felicia was extraordinarily brave the time period. She foug
BELOVED IMPOSTOR by Partrica Potter is an interesting Scottish Historical Romance set in 1511 Scotland. #1 in the "Beloved" Trilogy. Intriguing, and interesting. While, a bit slow, in the beginning it picks up nicely. A century-old curse, danger, treason, a dark legacy and romance, makes for an intriguing story. The Clan MacLean has been cursed by the Campbell clan for centuries, but can true love, friendship and the coming together to find a traitor, mend the clans and finally bring peace and b ...more

After reading the Amazon reviews for this book, I went to check if maybe I was looking at the wrong book. No ... I guess I see this a bit differently.

I love Scottish stories, but this one seemed very ho-hum; I've heard it all before. Unfortunately, Potter seemed to tell me too many times that there was a curse, Rory didn't want to bury another wife and Felicia didn't want a Maclean.

If she had stopped telling me each of those things a total of 3 times, I could have tolerated it. But, no, the auth

The first book about 3 half~brothers (all first~borns and born of different mothers)... the Macleans of Inverleith. This is the middle brother's story. Rory Maclean was forced to leave the sea and his ship (The Lady) when Patrick, the eldest and heir went missing for 3 years in France and Lachlan, the youngest, could not or would not take the reins of the Lairdship for his older brothers leaving the clan without its laird. Having found Rory, the 2 foremost trusted elders/retainers schemed for an ...more

(This review is based on ARC e-book provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.)

Having read Beloved Stranger, book #2 of Patricia Potter’s Beloved Trilogy, first, I can vouch Beloved Imposter (book #1) is a standalone with its own HEA. As with most series, the plots and character development are more established and enjoyable when these three books are read in serial order, but certainly not necessary. As an avid fan of Scottish romance, I did enjoy Beloved Imposter. Ms. Potter’s w

This book wasn't a favorite. The Campbells and Macleans hate each other, ever since a Maclean chained his Campbell wife to a rock to drown her in high tide. The Maclean's wive's were cursed from that point on.
Felicia Campbell does not want to marry the man her uncle has picked out for her. She decides to escape the keep dressed as her cousin's betrothed, but she is kidnapped by the Maclean's believing she is a Cameron. Rory Maclean has been gone for 10 years and has buried two wives that he care

I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the way the characters were formed and how Felicia wasn't just a helpless girl who succumbed to whatever everyone else wanted. I loved the character of Rory as well and how he struggled with his own desires, his past and his wish for peace between the clans. Even the smaller characters Lachlan and Jamie were interesting.
I enjoyed reading the book and would recommend it to other lovers of the genre.

3.5 Fun read. Good attention to historical details. I enjoyed the idea of Rory being a sailor and Lachlan a reluctant laird. Felicia was a fun female lead. Lots of spunk. My free NetGalley copy had a lot of typos, but I suspect it was due to a rush before final printing.
