I'm not willing to consign myself to geezer-dom yet, but of the eleven ways the authors of Navigating Your Freshman Year suggest that you NOT procrastinate, seven of them didn't even exist when I was a freshman.
Ahem.
This small volume does have some good advice for college newbies; and what really makes it valuable is that it is coming from upperclassmen, who have had the freshman experience within three years. So when they suggest that you really plan time to study, and to follow the prof's course syllabus, they know that you have never really had to do that in high school. In fact, the universal experience is that high school can't prepare you for the rigors of college scholarship, nor the freedom of being away from home for the first time.
And BTW, they also suggest that reference librarians would love to do your research for the numerous papers you will have to write -- NOT! Good luck!

This book give incoming college students the rundown on what to expect during their freshman year. There is advice on packing, living the dorm life, scheduling classes, handling money, studying, and so on. Although the book is aimed at new college students, i think any college student can benefit from these tips. I particularly liked the section about making a budget and knowing when to ask for help.

Had some really good advice for new college students from a students perspective. I especially liked that it encouraged students to seek help when needed.
