The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0 is the second book in the series, however, can be read as a standalone (I haven’t read the first book).

Alicea is the president of Boyfriend Whisperer Enterprise. Libby is a matching computer program she developed using algorithms. It asks a number of questions to find a suitable match.

Alicea is pining over her ex, Ty is looking at another girl and Libby is telling her Darius is her perfect match. Ty broke things off with Alicea a week before prom, but she still wants

Before this book I swear I haven't read a YA contemporary in what feels like ages. Over the last few years I've kind of stopped trying because a) a lot of them lately seem to be pretty morose and dealing with suicide and that's just not something I really want to get into and b) now that I'm in my late 20s and a mom I feel like I can relate more to the parents of these characters than the actual characters themselves. I don't want to ruin the book because I'm spending too much time thinking abou ...more

Tech girl Alicea developed an app that allows her fellow classmates to fill out a questionnaire and it will match them with a compatible person to date. All around her couples are finding love because of her match making service- except she can't get the guy she wants, the boy who broke her heart. When her friend push her to try her own app and move on, the app tells Alicea that her perfect match is the bad boy slacker Darius, a bo

The story started out pretty much how you'd expect a story like this to go, and continued that way for quite a while. But not in a bad way, in a familiar enjoy this kind of story way. As much of a bad boy as Darius was supposed to be, there were some really cute things that he did in his wooing of Alicea. When it came to her ex, Ty, there was a moment or two when I was afraid he was going to go back and try to get her by saying they'd been on a break. And with the way she kept going on and on ab ...more

This book was a fun, cute and enjoyable read.

Its starts when Alicea takes over her friend's Boyfriend Whisperer business. A computer programmer, Alicea has designed the perfect dating match program destined to help her high school colleagues find their dating match with 99% accuracy. However after being dumped by the boy of her dreams, Alicea has to trust her own dating program even when the match it spits out for her makes absolutely no sense.

At first I wasn't mad about Alicea. She seemed reall

Even though I didn't read the first book, I had no problem jumping right into this second book. The characters felt like real friends to me and I enjoyed getting to know them. The friendships are strong, positive, and each girl knows she has someone who will always be there. The banter and relationship arc of Darius and Alicea is well done and I found myself almost yelling at Alicea for some of her choices because this author has given me a new book boyfriend in Darius.

The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0 is actually book two in a series, but I think you can read it fine as a standalone as well. I didn't read the first one, and I think it does a good job of filling in the gaps for you. You don't really need to know what happened in the first book to understand what is going on in this one. Although, I do think I'm going to go back and read the first book at a later date.

I think what I enjoyed most about this book is this moral: Not everyone is what their reputation portrays them to be. Also, opposites attract. North, meet South. Darius' character is undoubtedly my favorite. I love misinterpreted(or misunderstood) characters. It is very hard to not start liking Darius, and totally shipping him with Alicea. And while I have never been to prom (or any sort of big dance like that) no girl wants to get dumped a week before the big event. It didn't even happen to me, ...more

Strong characters, a good dose of teenage angst, and a sprinkling of comedy makes for one enjoyable YA romance.

Alicea likes order. Darius does not. Alicea likes science. Darius likes art. Alicea likes perfection. Darius likes chaos. Alicea wants to get back together with Ty. But Darius pops up as her match on her automated matchmaking program, and Libby is never wrong… is she?

The blinkered world view that the character Alicea presents to the world is so refreshing. She is focused but distracted

Alicea Springer is the new Boyfriend Whisperer and her app is supposed to be very accurate. She wants to get back with her ex-boyfriend Ty, but the app says her match is Darius Groves. Alicea gets paired up with Darius for an English assignment and she begins to see the truth about him. Her eyes are opened to her past, present and her possible future. Another cl

My Thoughts :

The story- 4/5

Setting of the book-5/5(I did like it a lot)

Main Hero- 3,5/5

Smexy Times?- Non,a very clean story

It is a Sequal, but you can read it as a standalone.

It was a nice, fast, clean Teen romance with an interesting twist. I loved Alicea's friend group and how supportive they were. I enjoyed the writing style and how easy the story was flowing. Of course, sometimes I had a facepalm because of some stupid teen decisions, but it's a YA book so that's expected.

4/5 Star

I loved The Boyfriend Whisperer and The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0 was similarly enjoyable. I love the way Linda writes strong female characters who nonetheless struggle with typical teenage issues. With The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0., we see that not everything is as it seems on the outside, the old adage, 'Don't judge a book by its cover', a theme from start to finish. People are so more complex than what they present on the outside. Sometimes you just need to take the time to get to know them. I w ...more

Great YA read with opposites attract. I love Darius. He has so many levels and is so creative. This would have been a 5 but sometimes Alicea really was irritating in how she treated Darius because he wasn't in the cool crowd. Her quest for popularity by getting a popular boyfriend really irks me. Can you tell I was in the "Darius" crowd in high school? Alicea did redeem herself in the end but she wasn't a favorite of mine. ...more

This is a really fun read. I so enjoy this author’s work! I’ve read all of her books. They are all clean romances with no swearing and no sex. They are fast paced and suitable for all ages, although the target audience is teens. It helps to read the first book of the same name first but it’s not essential. I recommend all of her books.
