Trouble's Wedding Caper by Jen Talty is the next addition to the Trouble series. This time Trouble finds himself staying in Jupiter, FL while Tammy Lynn is on a yacht with a friend to visit a remote island to examine some rare books.
Annabel has returned to Florida to start life again after breaking up with her long time boyfriend who just couldn't commit. I liked Annabel as she is determined to start over and her next steps are buying storage units and then reselling the contents. Her first unit is a treasure trove of wedding gowns, jewelry and accessories. The goods are a mystery which she is determined to research to find the answers. The secondary characters are likable, especially Ethan. He's a local sheriff who knew Annabel when she was younger so there's an easy rapport between as they begin to unravel the mystery.
A quickly paced story that has just enough twists to keep readers guessing as Trouble unearths the clues for Annabel and Ethan to follow. The reveal shows Trouble at his finest as he takes down the suspect and helps Ethan rescue Annabel.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. To love and to cherish… Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty is a whimsical mystery about weddings and how the bride and groom aren’t always right for each other. However, don’t fret as Trouble is there to make sure that the couple that belongs together will make it through.
At the start of the book, Tammy Lynn and Trouble are watching the royal wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle on television, and he is upset with the sensationalized commentary about Meghan’s family and the whole drama that the American media is placing on the wedding. I have to agree with Trouble’s assessment of that situation. Anyway, this leads us into lots of wedding stuff, and it turns into quite the caper. Annabel Wilder Our female lead is Annabel. She is the maid of honor at her best friend, Rosie’s wedding. Although, the day is extremely happy for Rosie and Chip, the day isn’t for Annabel as she catches her boyfriend in a compromising position that ends their relationship. This act causes Annabel to return home to Jupiter, Florida.
Annabel is a realtor but must study and pass the Florida realtor’s exam before she can begin that. So, in the meantime, she decides to do some treasure hunting. Think Storage Wars without the wars and that type of drama, but with lots of found treasure.
I liked Annabel from the beginning. She is witty and open. She loves her friend Rosie and is extremely happy for her. I also thought that her moving back to her hometown was a good move. Oh, and her curiosity rivaled Troubles. Annabel just seemed to have it together even though she was getting over a broken heart and had just relocated her life. Ethan Ferris Our other lead is Ethan. Ethan is Rosie’s brother and the best man at her wedding. The wedding that also ended Ethan’s engagement to fiancée as he caught her in another compromising situation. However, Ethan also has moved on or is at least trying to move on from his lost engagement. He is also a Police officer in Jupiter and seems to do very well for himself.
I liked Ethan pretty much right away too. He is the classic “boy next door.” Super dreamy with a heart of gold. I think that he has always liked Annabel he just didn’t realize it. Oh, and he is a cat guy so kudos for liking and being respectful to Trouble. However, his one downfall is he is a bit overprotective, but that could have to do with his job, but I think it is more of his personality. Trouble In this installment, Trouble is staying with Annabel while Tammy Lynn is appraising some antique books. Our black cat detective was rather enjoying his vacation when these wedding-related incidents started happening around Annabel.
Trouble was so resourceful with finding clues to help find the culprit who was stealing any wedding related items. He also keeps Annabel safe whenever possible. I wasn’t sure who was more protective, Trouble or Ethan. Mystery These wedding capers kept me guessing. I figured out who was the thief; I just couldn’t figure out why until all of the clues were put together. In some ways I felt sorry for the thief, it hurts to have your heart broken, even if the other person didn’t mean to do it. We all make bad decisions at times, and so do lots of people. 5 Stars for Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty My rating Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty is five stars. The story is wonderfully written; the characters were superb, with lots of depth and feelings and the mystery well thought out. I loved the way that the clues were put in there. I adored it.
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Trouble's Wedding Caper by Jen Talty.
As someone that is owned by cats, Trouble’s intuitive skills come as no surprise, but the appeal of this book goes way beyond cat lovers. It starts with many people’s worst nightmare – a wedding at which the significant others of the bridal attendants appear more involved with each other than with their “real” partners. This sets the scene for the story itself – a mystery surrounded by wedding paraphernalia. Annabel is looking after Trouble this time, and she bids on and wins a storage unit filled with wedding “stuff.” This brings her back into contact with several of the guests from the wedding alluded to earlier and to Ethan (the other attendant) – and it may lead her to a happily ever after.
The joy of this book lies in the details – about the shots at the wedding, about the clues Trouble finds, about the different characters and their relationships to one another and to Annabel, and even about Sherlock and Holmes at the end. It is one of the most enjoyable books I have read this year.
Trouble's Wedding Caper is book eight in the Familiar Legacy by Jen Talty. A first read for me from this author, and although I am coming into the series rather late, I feel it is better late than never. Stories of finding love the hard way are some of my favourite, and I haven't come across one that didn't warm my heart. I felt good things about this story and I was not disappointed.
Annabel goes home with a broken heart, and ends up with a unit full of treasure. But even that has trouble attached. She is a train wreck. Along comes Ethan and a black cat, and total chaos reigns supreme in her life. She falls hard for him and her run of bad luck seems to bed relentless. She doesn't want to risk giving her heart only to have it broken again. This tale is energetic, suspenseful, intriguing and funny. Trouble was the cherry on top of a fantastic story. I connected well with the characters and was always eager to turn the page and learn more. A brilliant tale that made me anxious to go back to the beginning and start from book one. 4 stars.
This is the 8th story in the Familiar Legacy series and I read this as a stand-alone. It's the first book I've read by this author.
I would classify this as a "cozy mystery" as it features a cat named Trouble who helps solve mysteries. TROUBLE is the thread that connects all of the stories in the series. He's a special cat and it took me a few chapters to realize it was the cat's "voice" at the beginning of each chapter. Cute cute cute.
The dialog and banter is sweet and the cat is just a amazing "He's obviously never wrangled with an intelligent feline before, much less a master detective skilled in all tactical forms" hehehe. Oh, btw, I read the cat with an English accent.
This is a story that moves quickly from beginning to end. It held my attention and while at times it was obvious, other times I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong.
This is the type of book I would recommend to my mother's elderly book club.
What would you do if you were Annabel when you discovered your boyfriend was sleeping with others? Well, Annabel returns home to Florida and decides to try treasure hunting. Interesting and new to me. She bids on a storage unit and finds wedding dresses and other items. Not realizing she has now put herself in danger. Trouble is back in Jupiter, Florida with Annabel. Can this brilliant cat detective with a sharp mind keep her safe? Will Annabel find love or romance with someone from her past? Wonderful story written by a new author in the Trouble series. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone, but so much more fun to read in order and follow Trouble through each of his adventures.
I received an Arc prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. Opinions are my own.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty a five-star read that will make you chuckle. This is the eight novel in the Familiar legacy series but you don’t need to have read them all, I have only read number two and five and now eight and I have loved them all, I am sure one day I will get to read them in order but until them I will just enjoy them as I fancy them. You will chuckle reading this one, as well as be kept guessing, Trouble will just make you want to wish he was real as who wouldn’t want a cat that supreme. The story is told from many perspectives so that can get a little confusing but the author deals well and keeps it interesting and clear.
This is the first book in this series that I've read. I enjoyed it and will plan to read more. Annabel comes back home where she runs into Ethan. They shared a moment months before. Now he is trying to find out who is after her. I enjoyed reading Trouble's POV. I found the cat to be very interesting.
Great read. Good characters and plot. Hope there are further books in this series. I received this book after agreeing to write a review. Would recommend it.
Mystery with — spoiler — no dead body. The mystery surrounds weird recurring occurrences of wedding related thefts and men lurking/hiding around/near the main female character, combined with relationships of various characters going awry with infidelity, jealousy, arguments, etc. and there’s lots of characters.
The cat — Trouble — is being cared for my the female character while his usual owner is on a cruise. He’s a sleuth in his right and is the main recurring character in this series of mysteries written by various authors. The cat helps the humans find the clues using his actions/behavior. Plus we get a glimpse of his thought processes whenever there is italic print. So a couple pages every chapter or so. This really adds to the fun quirky style of the book.
Each book in the series is a standalone book that introduces two characters and sets up a romantic scenario with a mystery to solve with Trouble’s help. Very satisfying read.

This is book eight in the Cat Detective Familiar Legacy mystery series, which are written by different authors. Each book is a separate tale or should that be tail? The main character is a woman called Anabel Wilder who returns back to her home town, Jupiter, Florida for a fresh start after a bad break up and wanting a fresh start. She is also cat-sitting a cat called Trouble for a friend. She has started working for realtor’s office and studying for her realtor’s exam, so she can work in Jupiter, as her current qualifications can’t be used in Florida.
The book starts with the wedding of her childhood best friend and also the break-up of her relationship and some others who factor later in the book. Annabel is also doing a bit of Storage Wars style, storage unit buying, to make money for her future, once she passes her exam. The latest unit she goes for and wins, is one full of wedding dresses and accessories. But it seems someone else was rather interested in that unit and this is where the trouble begins.
Parts of the story are told from the cats perspective, which to start I found a bit weird, but as you carry on with the book, you find out that the cat is rather intelligent and is trying to help the humans realise when something sinister is going on. A bit of an intelligent detective, just an actual cat as well. Trouble, the black cat she is looking after, seems to know more than Annabel and at times also seems to be looking out for her.
Sheriff Ethan Ferris was her high school heart throb and is also the brother of her best friend. The two bump into each other as part of an investigation into a break-in at her apartment complex and then further events throughout the story. Ethan has also had a recent heartbreak and is reluctant to get back on the horse, as they say, even though his sister tries to get him to. He can’t forget events that took place at her sister’s wedding and Annabel in particular. Events are occurring which bring them both closer together.
More crimes with wedding connections are occurring and there is evidence of more from the recent past. There are loads of suspects in the mix and Annabel is right in the centre of the action and danger, seemingly targeted because of her storage unit purchase. What she later finds out about some of the contents of that unit bring her closer to suspicion and danger. It seems that the main culprit is targeting Annabel ad putting her very life in danger. Matters begin to escalate and Trouble the cat has a huge part in the finding of clues and suspects.
A lively read, with an amusing look at a mystery investigation, with a black cat as the main investigator. Once you get past this cat being a main character and its voice as a large part of the story, then it’s a pleasant read. An easy read with a good set of clues and suspects for you to try and solve. Also with a bit of romance as an aside to the criminal investigating. I enjoyed this, even though I don’t have pets myself and don’t normally read books with a cat as a main character!. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Trouble is back on the road to Jupiter, Florida in this latest adventure by Jen Talty. Annabel Wilder returns back to her hometown after a devastating breakup with her ex-boyfriend, Devin after her best friend's wedding reception. Annabel has an unusual hobby of finding treasures in unclaimed storage units as a part of her new life. She won on her bid for a large storage unit and finds a lot more than she bargained for. Our fearless feline, Trouble along with Annabel Wilder, her best friend's good looking brother, Sheriff Ethan Ferris, joins in the investigation of who owns this storage lot of valuables, such as wedding rings and jewelry, wedding dresses, and bridesmaid gowns.
The mysterious criminal wants Annabel, Ethan, and Trouble to stay away from the storage unit that contains these treasures and will take any means necessary to stop them. During the investigation, Annabel and Ethan are fighting the ever-growing feelings they have for each other after their breakups. He and Annabel are in this investigation together along with Trouble, with danger lurking around the corner for Annabel and the storage unit. Who is behind of these robberies?
Trouble finds the clues that lead the dynamic pair to solve a growing number of reported bridal robberies that may involve Annabel's storage unit. They find the culprits behind these crimes while Trouble has his work cut out for him in the romance department of getting Annabel and Ethan together. Trouble does have his work cut out for him in match making and solving this latest mystery in the nick of time.
This is an excellent story full of real life events of heartache from broken relationships and the possibility of finding love again with the right person. I love the fact that Annabel and Ethan are very relatable characters who are learning to trust again after their failed relationships went south after the wedding. This story has the right balance of romance and mystery with excellent character dialogue and development. I am a first time reader of Ms. Talty's work, so I do look forward to more books from this talented author.
I would give this book a ten star rating for the realistic storytelling with wonderful twists and turns towards the end of this book. This is a fabulously fun read that is very hard to put down once you start reading so make plans to stay up for several hours tonight. If you love books with a Southern fun twist with a dose of feline mayhem, this book is for you. I will be reading more of the adventures of Trouble, the fabulous cat detective mystery series in the near future.
Trouble's Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) By: Jen Talty 5 out of 5 stars
The story Trouble's Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) by Jen Talty is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It has both mystery and romance. It hooked me in right from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Annabel Wilder and Sheriff Ethan Farris. Annabel is a woman who is beautiful and independent. She is a treasure hunter and has found wonderful things when she bids and wins a storage unit. She soon finds herself caught up in an investigation headed by Ethan. Ethan shows himself to be protective of Annabel. Danger follows the investigation into a rash of wedding burglaries. Will Ethan be able to solve the burglaries? How much danger is Annabel in? Will Trouble, the black cat, help Ethan with his investigation? There is an attraction between Annabel and Ethan. Will they act on their feelings for each other? Read this book to find out. This is a story that at times had me wondering what was going to happen next. I felt like I was putting together a puzzle in order to find out the guilty one. I felt a connection with both Annabel and Ethan and grew to care about them with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. I also loved the character of Trouble. His quick thinking and wit brought a smile to my face. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that has amazing characters. I would highly recommend reading it.
I received this book as part of an ARC review. I really enjoyed this book and especially liked the cat, Trouble. He is very smart and believes himself a detective which he's quite good at it. Annabel is looking after Trouble while his human is away. Annabel has had a tough time lately after discovering Devin cheating on her. She had returned to her home town after quitting her job in New York. Ethan had met up with her at his sister's wedding where he discovers his fiancée, Quinn, cheating on him. Ethan and Annabel had known each other before when they were younger. Strange things begin happening to Annabel after she buys a storage locker at an auction filled with wedding items. She soon finds out that several of the items, if not all, are stolen. Ethan is working the case with Palmetto and the end result is surprising. It's nice that Annabel, Ethan and Palmetto all listen to Trouble when he provides clues for the investigation. In the end it is up to Trouble to save the day until Ethan and Palmetto get there to take over. Trouble really rakes over the bad guy. Ethan and Annabel have been getting closer all through the investigation and finally decide to get two black kittens of their own and name them Sherlock and Holmes after being inspired by Trouble. Trouble is content after helping to solve the case and Ethan and Annabel getting together. Trouble will now train Sherlock and Holmes so that they will be worthy of their names. I would definitely recommend this book.
This is my first reading of trouble and his Capers, this a great book really great read it funny it's insightful and it makes you look at your cat and wonder what really is going in the mind of your feline.
Annabelle wilder returns home for her best friend's wedding with her fiance. Unfortunately she catches him with the wedding planner. After confronting him she goes to the bar meets her Best Friend's Brother who she had a crush on for forever, he is also having a bit relationship issues.

Stolen items are found in the unit. Annabelle is runoff the road. And a mystery man seems to be lurking around the storage unit and Annabelle' condo.
Ethan finally takes courage and asks out Annabelle. Something he had been thinking about a lot.
Whilst investigating the strange turn of events surrounding a state if wedding related robberies, Ethan finds the help of Trouble strange bewildering amusing but helpfully.
This is a truly unique and great read. You get to see things from the felines point of view which is really amusing and insightful.
Awesome read.

i loved this book! Trouble, the Black-Cat detective, has landed in Jupiter, FL, where Annabel is cat-sitting (his beloved Tammy Lynn is out of town). Annabel has recently left her cheating ex & her life in NYC to return to FL, & while waiting to get a FL Real-estate License she decides to make money buying & seling abandoned storage units. Trouble becomes her secret weapon, because he can sneak in & search around, & Annabel ends up with a wonderful unit filled with everything needed for a true Wedding Caper, right up to amazing diamond rings. Only problem is that someone doesn't seem happy with Annabel, & she doesn't know why. Is it someone who doesn't like her purchase? Someone from her ex looking for her? Something to d with her part-time job at a realtor's office? Annabel just doesn't know. Joining her in her search is Ethan, her best-friend's brother & her teen-aged-crush, now a local law enforcement officer who finds grown-up Annabel pretty irresistible. There are twists & turns, lots of great Trouble interventions, and little spice of romance. Long-time fans of Trouble will love this newest adventure, while new readers can pick this book up & instantly become immersed in, well, Trouble. Either way, I highly recommend Trouble's Wedding Caper. A great addiiton to the Familiar Legacy Series!
Trouble's Wedding Caper is the 8th book in the Familiar Legacy book series by Jen Talty. It is the first I have read, so it can be read as a stand alone book. This book has a lot of drama, mystery, comedy and a dash of romance. It tells the story of Annabel, who returns to her small town home of Jupiter Florida after getting her heart broken in NYC. While at her best friend's wedding, she finds her boyfriend cheating on her, and gets drunk with her best friend's brother, and her high school crush Ethan. Flash forward months later, and they are both back home in Jupiter and turns out Ethan's fiance was cheating on him as well. Maybe the time is finally right for them to act on their feelings they have been hiding for years. With the help of Ethan's sister, and Annabel's best friend, they go on their first date. On top of all of that, there is a lot of strange things happening, most involving Annabel and weddings. She buys a storage unit full of wedding gowns, rings, invitations and presents. With the help of Trouble, a cat, who is more like a detective, Annabel and Ethan try to solve the crime. This book was unlike any I've read before, but I loved it. It was so cleaver and not at all cheesy as I thought it would be. I will be reading others in the series to see what fun they have in store.
I have had the chance to get a bit of a taste of Jen Talty’s work in various anthologies here and there and really have enjoyed each story so it was quite a no-brainer for me when I saw the cute cat detective story pop up on my fee for a quick afternoon read. I was a tad cautious, although open-minded, going in because this is book eight of the Familiar Legacy books. I had absolutely no issues picking up right here though, just discovered a sweet series of shorts that I will get to go back and enjoy in the near future. I will say this isn’t a meaty story. It is what I like to classify as a light and fluffy book, something to break up the serious full series reads maybe, so that would be a note for myself and probably a reason for a four star rating as well for me personally.
In Trouble’s Wedding Caper we follow the feline detective and his caretaker Annabel on quite the mysterious little rendezvous. Annable finds herself at a storage auction and with a unit of unknown items. Even cannier is the previous owner really wants them back. Throw in that the local cop she enlists for help ust happens to be a old friend and crush. What will she do about that? Grab a copy today and dive in to find out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed that you did! Thanks for the great little read Ms. Talty.
I give Trouble's Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) by Jen Talty, 5 stars.
Trouble, the feline detective, is being taken care of by Annabel in Jupiter, Florida. He is all ready for a vacation and can't wait. But it turns out she may need his help after all. She purchases a storage unit at an auction, without knowing the contents. But now someone seems to want the stuff back, and is willing to do anything to get it back. Not only that, but Annabel finds out the local cop is an old friend and someone she's had a crush on since childhood. She is not ready to date again, but there is something about him. Should she try? Can Trouble help solve the storage unit mystery before it's too late?
I am new to this series and wasn't sure what to expect. I absolutely loved it! Trouble is fantastic and Annabel and Ethan are too. The story is fun, engaging, and full of romance and mystery. I love that it switches between the two human points of view, then adds in Trouble's point of view too! This book reminds me of The Cat Who series but with romance thrown in. I read that series as a teenager and it is dear to my heart. That should show you how much I love this book. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series.
If you like romantic cozy mysteries and/or are a cat lover, this book is for you.
I am voluntarily writing this review in exchange for a free ARC. I have not read any of the prior books in the series but I found this one to be fun and engaging. It took me a bit to get into the book because I had trouble keeping all the couples straight. But by the second chapter I had everything figured out and was hooked. First of all, I love cats. That is the reason I wanted to read this book. I also love fun, quirky mysteries. Once I was into the story, I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. The characters of Annabel Wilder and Sheriff Ethan Ferris are fun, down to earth characters. Annabel is beautiful and independent. She bids on a storage unit and wins it thanks to Trouble. She soon finds herself caught up in an investigation headed by Ethan. Danger follows the investigation of a rash of wedding burglaries. There is an attraction between Annabel and Ethan. But will Ethan be able to keep Annabel safe? This story kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Everytime I thought i had it figured out, another twist developed. I felt a connectionto the characters and grew to care about them with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness, especially Trouble. If you are looking for a fun mystery to solve this is for you!
In this one Tammy Lynn leaves Trouble in Jupiter while she cruises off to an island to verify some possible first editions.
Her friend Annabel is more than happy to take Trouble and even buys him a bed. Although Trouble prefers anything else to lie down on. He even helps her bid on a storage unit. As a treasure hunter this is a real plus for her since he was able to slink in and check it out first.
The unit is filled with wedding stuff. Lots of it and there are even some rings.
The last time Annabel saw Ethan was the night of her friend's wedding. The same night she broke off her engagement and Ethan did a belly shot of tequila off her. That same night he found his fiancé in the arms of another man.
Now Ethan is with the Jupiter police, and they meet up for the first time since she moved back right after she starts going through the unit. But then again later after a break in at her apartment complex.
All of the clues revolve around cancelled weddings, and Annabel finally tells Ethan about the content of her storage unit.
Lots of twists and turns, I love the interactions with Trouble, Ethan and Annabel. I certainly didn't see solution coming.
Jen has totally embraced Trouble and his antics making this another great read.
Annabel realizes that the man she has thought was “the one” is not after many years hoping that he was. She returns to Jupiter, Florida for a fresh start and reconnects with Sheriff Ethan Ferris who she has known for years. Ethan is recovering from a broken engagement as his fiancée left him for another and tells him the engagement ring that he bought for her was stolen…or was it? While cat sitting for Trouble, her friend’s cat, she bids on a storage unit. With Trouble’s help, she chooses a unit and finds many bridal items including gowns and jewelry. The mystery begins as someone else is very interested in Annabel’s purchase. A series of burglaries has taken place in town and the items stolen all seem to be connected to weddings. Is that why someone is after Annabel’s purchase? Can Ethan keep Annabel safe, with Trouble’s help? Trouble is a unique cat and we “read” his thoughts as he helps Annabel, from choosing the storage unit to protecting her and helping to solve the crimes. Kudos to Ms. Talty for a truly enjoyable addition to the “Fear Familiar” legacy. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Trouble's Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy #8) by Jen Talty was a fast pace, fun, entertaining read, that had me hooked.
My first read by this author and for this series, don't be put off by the number, though this says book eight, it reads as a standalone. I fall right into this story and no point did I feel confused or felt like I was missing something. Nicely balanced and witty, I very much had a good time reading this unique book.
Right away I was pulled into this book, I'm not going to tell you how it opens cause I think it's a nice little surprise and a fun treat. After that opening we meet Annabel, right away I liked her, and that doesn't happen very often for me, to actually like a MC right out of the gate. She was fun, witty, and someone I could see wanting to be friends with. A very strong MC, Annabel carried this story, and really made up fro some of the weaker areas.
Overall this book, as I have said, is a super fin read, and you will get hooked right from that unique opening. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will have a time reading this quirky rom-com.
Two weddings: Prince Harry and Meghan Markles’ and Annabel Wilder’s friend Rosie’s. And maybe two in the near future? Make that maybe one, when Annabel discovers her roving boyfriend with another woman. Trouble is visiting his owner Tammy’s friend Annabel who has been briefed on his unique skills as a detective. When he pushes her to buy a specific storage unit full of wedding gowns, rings, and manikins, the trouble begins. Enter her lifetime crush, Ethan, who happens to be a police officer, after a diamond ring from the unit is stolen and other wedding-related thefts have been reported. I love the bridal theme of this story! A different direction from Trouble’s usual adventures, all of which have been diverse; this this one really stands out. Ethan and Annabel are fully drawn characters who work together to find the wedding spoiler. The mystery is sound and the culprit is not obvious! Trouble is his usual cool, self-assured self, guiding his humans to the clues only he could discover. A fun read to be sure!
Annabel Wilder is taking care of Trouble, that most remarkable cat, while his human is off on a business trip. Trouble helps Annabel select a storage unit to bid on, one filled with wedding paraphernalia. As she tries to catalog everything, Trouble helps her find several unique items. And things start happening - a break-in in her building, a hit and run, strange cars seemingly watching her. This tale has an interesting cast of characters, including Annabel's best friend's brother, Ethan, who is a Jupiter Island police officer, and for whom Annabel has had a crush since she was twelve. And both Annabel's and Ethan's exes, a wedding planner, photographer, unhappy storage customer, condo neighbors and assorted other players. This is an entertaining, fun mystery, though a bit uneven a couple of times. The characters are likable, the progression in story and romance well-paced, and the shared history among several characters well defined. Another delightful Trouble mystery, one I had trouble putting down! This review is based on an ARC received from the publisher.
Troubles Wedding Caper is the eighth book in the Familiar Legacy Series by Jen Talty- and is a wonderful story full of romance and mystery. This is my first read by Ms. Talty, so I didn’t really know what to expect when I started on this book, but I can now say that it definitely won’t be the last of her work that I will be reading, as I am already looking at others I want to explore. I enjoyed this engaging, and clever mystery, and the interesting and relatable characters. The story had humour, danger, intrigue, drama, and of course romance. I loved that we got to hear from several different perspectives, including Trouble, the cat. He’s such a posh and refined feline- his witty, some what sarcastic personality really shone through and he became quite the scene stealer. A great little mystery that will keep you very entertained from beginning to end! Can’t wait too read more of Ms. Talty’s work!
This isn't the usual style of book that I read of Jen Talty think alpha heroes but there was enough of her usual heroes and writing style t keep me enthralled plus the added fun of trouble the black cat just gave it an extra spin that I enjoyed thoroughly

Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) By Jen Talty 5 stars
I absolutely LOVED this book! It was not what I was expecting at all when I first read the blurb. This is the first book that I have read in this series so hence why I wasn’t expecting what I read but it has absolutely made me want to read more by this author now! I loved the characters – Annabel and Ethan. Annabel was a determined character, she wanted to start over. I really enjoyed reading her story. There were some good twists in the story too. I really liked Ethan – he was just one of those characters you can’t help but like and then there is Trouble! Any book that has a cat in it is going to be a winner with me! I loved that about this story! I thought that Trouble’s Wedding Caper was a fast paced story that was highly entertaining. I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.
Trouble's Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) by Jen Talty is another unique and wonderful story that is a second chance romance/mystery. I enjoy Jen’s books, they are always fun and exciting and hook me from the start and keep me engaged till the end. I just love Trouble who I am sure thinks he is human. He makes me laugh out loud at his antics and his clever mind. If only he could speak. Jen’s characters are always loveable and there are others I just wanted to smack. The plot is clever and wonderfully woven and the writing is told in several POV’s.
Annabel is sassy and independent and left despondent about relationships. She has finally come back home and soon finds herself in a situation that is dangerous and possibly illegal but she has Trouble to watch over her and lead the police in the right direction.
Don’t miss out on a this exciting story that I highly recommend.
Annabel and Ethan, her best friend's elder brother, both attending Rosie (the said friend)'s wedding, with their plus ones who were the wrong-est partners ever, only to find Devin in bed with the wedding planner and Ethan's girl, Quinn, in bed with her old friend. And it appears that cheating is all the rage, with Annabel's boss, her neighbour, Rosie's colleague. all going at it like the clappers. So when Annabel bids for a storage unit only to find it full of wedding paraphernalia, the coincidence is almost creepy..
This is the first Jen Talty book that I have read and I really enjoyed it. The romance is sweet and natural, the characters well relatable and the story well written . And of course, Trouble. The best, smartest, most intuitive and amazing cat ever. What is not to like! I will be on the look out for more of the same. I received and ARC and this is my honest opinion.
