Earth, Wind, Fire -- and passion.

Rockie Wexler's father has created a device that predicts earthquakes. Unfortunately it can also cause them, and now both Dr. Addison Wexler and the TAQ box have disappeared. Gutsy and brilliant Rockie knows she needs help to rescue her father from the bad guys.

Help arrives in the form of Dr. Leslie Sheridan. The hard-edged, self-described pain in the butt turns her world upside down. And Sheridan has his own reasons for hating anyone with the name of Wexler.

A captivating adventure in the tradition of Indiana Jones.

My first book was published in 1984 when I was 12. Why are you laughing? Since then I've published 16 books and 2 novellas: two Regencies originally written as Jane Lynson, one paranormal romantic suspense as Paula Christopher and everything else as Lynn Michaels. My husband Michael warned me never to dedicate a book to him, so instead I stole his name for my pseudonym.

Michael and I have 2 grown sons and 1 grandson. We live in Harry Truman's hometown, Independence, Missouri.

This was a nice action-packed read. The heroine is a genius and a failed actress who make her way to her dad's research facility to find hired guns, destruction and a lot of danger. She also meets the hero there. The book has non-stop action, the thugs are chasing her wanting her to force her dad to give up the earthquake device he worked on, which he actually stole from our genius hero. I loved the whole ride and even the quick romance worked for me.

I am giving this 5 stars based on my multiple re-reads since it came out in the early 90s. This came out a month or two after Jennifer Crusie's Manhunting. It was a great time in the Harlequin Temptation line. I remeber picking this up at a used bookstore (my sister now has that copy).

Rockie Wexler is something of a scientific genius and something of a poor actress who comes home to find her less than above-board scientist father has gotten into trouble with his earthquake detecting/creating machine. Leslie Sheridan is another scientific genius pulled into what is an action packed whirlwind or over the top science, secret labs, terrorists, desert camps, kidnapping, and escapes. There are even intyeresting secondary characters.

I read this once every three or four years and it's a blast every time.

The plot is OTT, Rockie and Leslie are delightful, everybody smokes (but knows it is bad for them). Just a fun read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! It had humour, suspense and romance! Wish there was a little more romance, but can't have everything I guess!
