I do believe I'm going to be keeping this review brief, because not only will I be discussing this one in greater detail come publication (hint hint), but I think the less you know going into this one, the better the reading experience you will have. The dual plot lines are well-executed, and the entire story felt like one of those fun "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, which was a huge hit for me. If you're looking for a fun, fast-paced psychological thriller to add to your summer vacation TBR, ...more

Lila Bennett is a successful criminal defense attorney. She is highly successful and competitive and does not back down from a fight. She has made many bad choices over the years, even stepped on some toes to make her way to the top. What happens when her choices and actions catch up with her?

This book was told in an interesting format via dual scenarios/sections - titled "Free" and "Captured". In one Lila is going about her life when suddenly a bad choice c

It was a riveting listen on Audible but there were two problems. One is that I already know this story because I watched Sliding Doors a gazillion times and this book stole so shamelessly from that movie that I just could not...

I mean, even down to the way it ended. Please, disguise it a LITTLE.

Second, I figured out who was holding Lila captive far too early by employing my age old trick. It's a question I ask myself as I'm reading/listening and about 85% of the time it unearths the "bad guy".

Do you ever ponder where your life may have lead had you chosen a different path? Zigging instead of zagging? How different things really would be? Or are we destined to walk a certain road?

Lila Bennett is a ruthless, take no prisoners defense attorney. And she’s more than willing to do whatever it takes to win! Included, but not limited to stepping on anyone in her way... even those close to her.
Lila has now found herself at a cross-roads. A time when she must make certain choices. What di

This is the first book that I have read by the duo writers, Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke and I was very impressed with this collaboration. I will surely be looking for the next book by this duo.

Lila Bennett is a highly successful criminal defense attorney whose job it is to defend those that are presumed guilty. She is very good at convincing a jury to look at all of the evidence in a case and that without physical evidence there can be no conviction. More than once she has won cases where it was

Can we get an AMEN?🙏

Psyche suspense writers are pulling out all the stops this year. Just when we were getting dragged down with the same ole same ole….we have authors like Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke sticking it to us with a great big switcheroo.

What is going on? J. P. Delaney introducing robots into his newest thriller, The Perfect Wife? Kimberly Belle shaking up the traditional story format in Dear Wife?

And now the heavens have blessed us with The Two Lila Bennetts. It is technically

How much can one choice impact a life?

In The Two Lila Bennetts this question is explored by offering two alternate storylines simultaneously. Successful criminal defense attorney, Lila, has made some questionable decisions in work and in play. Some might call her ambitious, others selfish - She knows no bounds. In one story, Lila is taken and held hostage, forced to face a list of people she hurt in the past. In the other, Lila is caught making some of these bad decisions and must decide how to

Well okay it is official, this writing duo is on my "must read" list! Whew holy psychological thriller. I have always loved their books in the past but this just took it to a new level. Admittedly I have never seen the movie Sliding Doors, I know **gasp** but I can defiantly get the picture of what inspired this book. Such a thrilling, unique crazy concept of the different paths a life can take based on your decision making process. All actions result in a consequence, whether good or bad. Some ...more

A Clever and twisty suspense Novel that was entertaining and the plot held my interest throughout.

Lisa Bennet’s career as a criminal defence attorney and her marriage are on the line after bad life and work choices have finally caught up with her and one of those decisions has split her life in two and she finds herself in a situation of her own doing.

Every action has a consequence and we find that played out in this twisty and clearly plotted novel. I enjoyed the story and it kept

Given how many books I read, I always love finding one that takes the traditional narrative structure and tweaks it a bit. That's the case with Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke's new thriller, The Two Lila Bennetts , and it's definitely part of the book's appeal.

Lila Bennett is a successful criminal defense attorney. Are some of the clients she defends actually guilty of their crimes? Probably. She doesn't really want to know the answer to that question, but she knows everyone is entitled to a def

Like the skill of a Sushi Chef Artisan, this one is sliced to perfection with dueling scenarios.

The Two Lila Bennetts has been crafted by the talented writing duo of Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. Once again, it's a literary collaboration with just the right amount of twists and turns. The authors themselves refer to a sliding door concept. Do you get on the train just before the doors slam shut? Or do you stand on the platform and decide to take a cab instead? Special shout out to the authors Liz and Lisa for coming to Chicago (where I live) and visiting my IRL book club to discuss this book! They were kind enough to give us all ARCs and finished copies of their book. I honestly think this book may be their best yet!

I’ve actually read several books now by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke and have loved them so I was quite looking forward to The Two Lila Bennetts. Immediately it becomes clear this writing team was trying to expand into something completely different with this story giving readers a split in what could be happening to the main character with one version of her captured and an alternate being free.

In The Two Lila Bennetts, Lila has been living a life of ambition and immorality, defending criminals who are probably guilty and stepping all over everyone she cares about in her effort to get to the top. When she makes another bad decision, we see her life take two different directions, one in which she is kidnapped, and one in which she is not.

The two diverging story lines are both individually compelling enough. After all, who hasn't thought about what their lives could be if they had made a

2 - 3 stars. I realise I’m totally out of step with other readers but I was soooo bored. Lila Bennett is a Defence Attorney. This book tells two alternative stories of Lila Bennett, one where she’s captured and made to address her sins and the other where is is free and makes life changing choices about which I couldn’t have cared less. The alternative storyline is not unique, I’ve read similar books and I don’t have a problem with that, my problem lies with the writing. Apart from Carrie, the c ...more

Dear Reader,

Do you remember the movie Sliding Doors, starring Gwyneth Paltrow? You know, the one where her life splits into two when she misses her train? I remember seeing the movie for the first time in the theater years ago and holding my breath as the movie toggled back and forth between Gwyneth's character’s two lives-and I cried my eyes out at the end! We consider it one of our all-time faves, and it was the inspiration for The Two Lila Bennetts.

One Monday evening she rushes for the elevator, and upon reaching the parking level, her boss invites her for a drink. Lila will never know how crucial her next choice is – that from then on her life will be divided in two, and that there’s repercussions for both.

Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke have been slaying the game together as a writing duo for years now, but nothing comes close to their upcoming mystery novel, The Two Lila Bennetts . Their upcoming mystery novel solidifies them as a force to be reckoned with! Told under two realities, Lila must come to terms about her behavior with her career and with her personal life. Without giving much away (you can read the synopsis if you want more of the backstory), Lila is a defense attorney and

The Two Lila Bennnetts by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke - wow! This is a book that I had seen a lot around the book world and was looking forward to reading. I have read previous books by this duo and knew that I was in for a fun read. And it certainly was. I read almost half of this book in one sitting.

In this sliding doors style story we meet Lila Bennett - a lawyer who gets the bad guys off, who works too hard and is having an affair with her boss and best friends husband. She has made some ba

I received a free e-copy of The Two Lila Bennetts by Liz Fenton from NetGalley for my honest review.

Lila Bennett is a well known and ruthless defense lawyer in LA. Lila does whatever it takes to win and get what she wants and needs.

Then, one evening after a victorious court win, her life is split in half. She has two choices; go out for a drink with someone higher up or the other go home and be with her husband. From that night on, her life was split in two.

This book was very unique and twisty!! You hear two sides of one story. One "Captured" and one "Free"!  This was very cleverly written and I do not want to spoil it. If you can go into this one not knowing much about it, do it!! I think you will enjoy it more that way! It's definitely a great summer thriller and I did not have this figured out! I wasn't necessarily a fan of Lila as a person! Her bad decisions made her an unlikeable character for me. But overall, definitely a fun, different kind ...more

Love authors Liz and Lisa -they kept me guessing right up until the reveal! Must go see Sliding Doors now...
Lila Bennett’s life is not run of the mill. She is a young, upwardly mobile criminal defense lawyer, has had the challenging experience of defending the guilty on more than one occasion, and has stepped on some toes along the way to achieve her success. Questions regarding her moral and ethical decisions plague her psyche when it comes to her job and her past personal life choices, and to

Very very clever writing and kept me hooked and made me think
My very first Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke book and man was it a weird one. You will quickly figure out where The Two Lila Bennetts gets its name from, and it was reminiscent of those choose your own adventure books.

I thought the book was a little slow overall, but it didn't read that way. The Two Lila Bennetts was such a quick book and I was very caught up in the mystery of who kidnapped Lila. I'm not going to say anything about the plot because I think it's best to go in blind, but I will say th
I believe that we are the results of the many choices that had been offered to us. Good or bad choices, we are who are are because of it. So, can someone change enough to break his path?

I really loved the two Lilas. It demonstrates my thinking, that depending on your choices, your path can be different. But at what cost?

The ending sounded a little bit rushed to me, but overall, I did like the book. Did not see coming any of the twists and turns!

I recommend this book if you like to be blindsided

Bravo to awesome writer duo Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke for taking a major risk with their new novel, The Two Lila Bennetts - a risk that more than pays off, in my opinion. For fans of Gwyneth Paltrow's film Sliding Doors or Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel, Maybe in Another Life, The Two Lila Bennetts asks a question about just how much one decision can impact the rest of our lives.

Lila Bennett, a tough criminal defense attorney with seemingly low morals is our character who ends up on the
