This text covers the major special nutrition issues that occur at different periods of the life cycle. The text begins with an overview of nutrition, including nutrition during adulthood, followed by coverage of nutrition during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, and aging. The third edition puts greater emphasis on physical fitness throughout the life cycle and discusses the new Food Guide Pyramid, vegetarian diets, teen-age pregnancy, preconception care, and addiction behaviors.
This was a text for one of my nutrition courses in school, and when I found out I was pregnant, I immediately went out and bought it again. I think its really useful for those trying to stay healthy and really understand maternal and child nutrition. It's a bit heavy for those without some clinical knowledge.
