“In Search of Persian Pottery” is a fairly old book (1966,1972). As a result the quality of images provided as examples of different kinds of glazing and throwing is not so impressive. From the very beginning in the book, Yoshida goes directly to the technical details without explaining much of the basics. So I think a bit of Persian history and a brief knowledge of glazing is necessary to understand what he is actually talking about.
This book can be a useful companion guide to a visit to Islamic section of Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), British Museum and Iran Bastan museum (Iran's National Museum in Tehran).
