A bleeding-edge contemporary novel that dives into the heart of Donald Trump's America.

Three artists set out across the country to make a movie. There's Suzie, the jaded writer; Jim, a corporate suit-turned-video artist who survived 9/11; and a hipster videographer, Remy. They team up to make a piece of "road movie" video/performance art about about "freedom and democracy

With influences such as Tom Waites and Walt Whitman, I knew I was in for a wild ride taking on Roy Scranton’s I HEART Oklahoma. Reminiscent of a combo akin to David Foster Wallace and George Saunders, Roy Scranton does not disappoint.

If you enjoy jazz compositions, you’ll appreciate the different cycles of this story which begins normally enough with three central characters, two males and one female, who embark on a cross country journey of film making in hopes of figuring out what’s rotten abo

1/3 through the book, and it turned into something I wasn't expecting. 2/3 in, it changed again.

And every bit was amazing.

I was lucky to get an ARC of this via Edelweiss for an honest review. And damn, I'm gonna need to get myself a physical copy. It's only 4 stars tho because, i eye-rolled sometimes too much. But that's what art does, right?

A glorious stream of consciousness road trip combined with a Bonnie-and-Clyde type myth retelling. Scranton is one of the wildest yet also most disciplined writers around.

I'm speechless: this book is unpredictable, fun to read and totally unpredictable.
It changes and you follow the changes and enjoy every moment.
The style of writing is amazing, the characters fleshed out and quirky, the plot flaws and keeps you hook.
A great reading experience.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
