Huhh, the story is still slowing building up, I guess? Have to wait and see how will the huge fight between supervillains and superheroes turn out.

I've gone through these volumes way too fast to stop and review along the way. This is the last volume so far for the ongoing series, and I'm reviewing the whole thing.

The contrast between the illustrator's (Yusuke Murata) magnificent drawings and the writer's (ONE) atypical and often ridiculous storytelling and characters plays out one of the main recurring points of this series: that no matter the talents of the characters, their efforts, their pains and sacrifices, they are rendered almost si

Garou does it again, breaking all his human limits and getting stronger at an astronomical rate.

Of course, we are waiting to see him finally come up against Saitama and MAYBE hold is own, but that's gonna be some REAL boss level s**t. In the meantime, we've got a full demon army to contend with, and the demon king at the end. Epic battles.:)

This was a good volume to build to the conclusion of this arc, but I am ready for the One-Punch Man to do his thing now. The basic concept of this series is that seemingly unstoppable villain lays wast to everything and Saitama beats it with one punch. Part of the charm with this manga is that it is a parody/send-up of shonen/superhero tropes. This title is at its best in my opinion when it shows the absurdity of what it is parodying, but after about volume 7 when they really started to go for a ...more

Garou's character continues to be incredibly fascinating. His action conveys heroism yet his mind screams with villainy. It's fun to see him continuously grow, especially knowing that this is just a teaser to a long-awaited confrontation with Saitama that all fans want to see.

Heroes are now diving into the villain's lair by confronting the wave's of creatures and it's nice to see the artists incredible ability to make everything look so beautiful and epic.

LOL. Who the fuck made that shower head a demon. LOOOOOLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! WTH!!

Woah Woah Woah! Garou is still so strong after all the damage he got.

Lol. I just notice on Saitama's tv he has a cute piggy bank with really long eyelashes. LOL IT'S SO CUTE!!!!!!!

Woah Garou still manage to be alive after getting a direct hit of that Disaster level Dragon monster. I am not a fan of him but I felt like he should not die just yet.

Woa. That freaking Gyoro is disaster level Dragon! No wonder but wtf. He d

*Read for the YA Reading Challenge 2020*

This volume is almost entirely about Garo and his journey into the heart of the Monster Association hive. Child Emperor is trying to figure out who to trust and how to rescue the hostage, but I can't tell if the payoff in that story line is going to worth it, low stakes so far. - Monster King Orochi's back story comes up here and we learn a lot about how the Monster Association came to be, so that's nice detail to see get filled in.

Overall, this has been

Garo vs. Lord Orochi. Exciting fight. There seems to be some Super Saiyan philosophy in this book as well.

One-Punch Man, Vol. 19 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next four chapters (91–94) of the on-going manga series with a bonus story.

Garou manages to find the boy that was kidnapped and that he failed to save. He managed to rescue him, but is encountered by three Disaster Level Demons in Showerhead, Supermouse, and Unihorn, which he defeats rather easily until a Disaster Level Dragon comes, named Overgrown Rover who is more of a challenge. He then has a conversation

The fun with Garo continues as this Volume focuses heavily on him...
But first... Child Emperor is putting together a team of Class S Heroes to invade Monster Association headquarters, where they will mount the rescue mission for Waganma (hired by Mr Narinki) at the same time. They are gathering together to meet.
Saitama and his guests begin to feast on Hot Pot, but it turns ugly, becoming a mess and a fight over ingredients. (This scene is hilarious!) King passes out, and when he leaves in the mo

In a world where Hot Pot is a game of life and death!

In the fight between the Monster and Hero Associations Garo has been doing a bit of growing himself recently both physically and as a character with heart though his goals are fairly simple. We have seen him stand against unbelievable odds and this volume we get more of the same as Garo returns to the stronghold of the Monster Association after being betrayed and young Tareo (whom he seems to have taken a liking to) is abducted. While the Hero

Another boring volume. Still not into Garo.

Though I do think he’s an interesting contrast to Saitama; Saitama seems to have infinite offensive power, while Garo has increasing defensive power in that he continues to get back up every time he is defeated. Setting up for a showdown between One Hit Will Defeat You vs I Can Take All the Hits? We’ll see. If we ever get there.

This was yet another amazing volume, with things continuing to move quickly for Garo's storyline.

The Hero Association is about to launch it's first offensive against the Monster Association, however, Garo is ahead of them, having already battled his way towards Lord Orochi. Orochi is a nasty boss, and while Garo has essentially surpassed the majority of heroes we know, he is not yet at Saitama's level. This volume ended with Garo down for the count, and the monster's lead strategist, Gyoro-Gyoro

I missed OPM. Glad I was able to buy a copy yesterday during the pandemic.

The part I liked most here is the hotpot bit though, second is the incredible fight scenes. I also don't understand why Genos is on the front cover. And why is there no mini Saitama on the back cover? And why the special "puzzle" edition for Japanese versions only T^T

At this point I would like the story to pick up the pace. It's getting boring watching these fights without getting a lot of Saitama's abilities and dialogue. This has been one of my favourite manga series, but right now I just don't know if i want to read it anymore.
I'll probably read the chapters that are already out and then stop if I see no improvement in the plot.

Just a visual treat for me, my eyes are hungry for the next book. I enjoy the satire aswell but the story is very predictable so don't expect a complicated plot twist, I'm just waiting for the day Saitama punches someone and they don't explode 😉

Yeah, I'm dropping this series. This is just not my style of shounen action and the constant "showing off strong attacks only for them to do zero damage" has rubbed me raw. Obviously, this is a beloved series and I definitely get why, but I'm not interested in continuing with it.
