This book offers just what you want from a craft book: ideas that are high on creativity but very low-maintenance when it comes to actually pulling these projects off. The DIY Beauty section was one of the strongest. DIY spa products are all the rage in these greenie, granola times as any crafter will tell you, and good ideas can be found all over the Internet, but there were quite a few here I haven't seen anywhere else, and called for less hard-to-obtain (or pricey) ingredients than many I've seen.

This book is a treasure trove of material for librarians who do arts and crafts programs as well as parents and crafty girls everywhere. I would say most of the sewing projects involve a higher level of difficulty and would work best for solo use, but quite a few of these could be adapted easily for groups (or birthday/slumber party attendees).

The only marked fault of this book is that it is entirely picture free. The instructions are straightforward enough that they aren't necessarily needed for that purpose, but many of these ideas were just too good not for us to be treated to at least a representation of the final version. On the good side--it leaves the reader/crafter something to look forward to when they take these projects on themselves.
