Laird William Sinclair is a good man. Like all his brothers he helps those around him, takes care of the less fortunate. So why does Gemma McClaren think she can take advantage of his kind nature and just ride off? He’s good but he isn’t a saint. And he’s certainly not above teaching that tricky little imp a lesson she’ll never forget.
Gemma McClaren has learned the hard way that men are scum. She won’t ever fall prey to one again. Yet, even she feels a little guilty when she steals a handsome laird’s money and horse. He hadn’t actually done a thing to harm her…yet. Her guilt quickly evaporates when he tracks her down with two small children in tow and demands she repay him by becoming nanny to the children. If she doesn’t, he’ll report her to the authorities.
What choice does she have? Except Gemma hasn’t the first clue how to care for children or handle a very large and angry laird. And honestly, she didn’t’ come to the Highlands to play with wee bairns no matter how cute. Nor does she want to notice how her heartbeat quickens every time Will steps into the room. She’s got a debt to settle and a life to reclaim.
Series: Brethren of Stone #3 Publication Date: 2/12/19 Number of Pages: 133
This is an enjoyable, quick, one-sitting read. It is certainly the tamest in the series – no pirates, no rogue magistrates, no port blockades, no bad guys at all and it is my least favorite of the series so far. I love the characters, but they had some of the lowest self esteems I’ve read in a while. Each felt inadequate and insecure – she because her husband just abandoned her and took up with another woman and he because he just didn’t feel like he measured up to his older brothers. It was nice to see them find their worth and get their HEA.
Will Sinclair has bought the land adjacent to his brother Blair and he intends to raise barley. He has invested every cent he has in the land and he absolutely must get his crops planted. After a hot day of farming, he decides to stop at the loch and take a swim – only to have his horse, money, and clothing stolen by a beautiful young woman.
Gemma McClaren left her home in the south of Scotland to head to the Highlands where she has an inheritance waiting. She used up all of her money several days ago and hasn’t eaten since – and she’s walked the last fifty miles. When she sees a naked man at the loch, it is an opportunity too good to pass up. She pushes him into the loch, grabs his pants with his money and leaps on his horse.
When Will finds Gemma, sparks fly and he basically blackmails her into becoming the governess/nanny for the two young children that had been dropped off on his doorstep. As Will sees Gemma interact with the children he realizes she isn’t what she appeared to be, and as Gemma sees how Will interacts with others, she realizes that maybe not all men are worthless.
There were several things in the book that I hope were fixed before release day. For instance, Gemma’s eyes were blue in a couple of places and green in another; she was a seamstress in one place and a laundress in another; in one place it appeared that Will was planting and harvesting the same field at the same time and Fiona was four and six years old.
If you like a quick read with a lovely romance, you’ll enjoy this one.
Kilted Sin is the third book in Tammy Andresen’s Brethren of Stone series, and it has all the hallmarks of a Tammy Andresen historical romance read. Quick and enjoyable, this one will have you finishing the story in a single sitting.
Like the prior books in the series, Kilted Sin was a fun quick read. The characters were a lot of fun, there was plenty to enjoy throughout, and the story kept you hooked. Although it was fun, I’m going to be honest and say I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as I enjoyed the prior books. It had me turning the pages, but I wasn’t as addicted to it as I have been to other Tammy Andresen novels.
I’ll certainly be continuing with the series, though. Despite this one not being a favourite, it was still a fun little read, and I remain addicted to the series.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 Will Sinclair is so sweet natured , I adored his character. He’s every woman’s dream , and has every good characteristic you want a son to grow up with . Gemma is a strong lass you’d think on the surface , but underneath she doubts herself and has very little self esteem . She’s had a difficult marriage and been abandoned and now she has trouble learning to trust in others . I loved the children Fiona and Ewan I’d give them a home , it broke my heart to hear their story. In all it’s one of my favourites from Tammy . Beautiful, sentimental, and romantic, with a dash of hope , all mixed together. I received an advance copy of this book and chose to submit a review
I have never read a Tammy Andresen book that I did not love and this was no exception! Laird Will Sinclair is a such a wonderful hero, who takes in two orphan children who have been left on his doorstep. But when a lass pushes him in the water and steals his money and his horse, he goes after her. Gemma had been married to a who she thought she loved but he left her with nothing. Come to find out he had another woman and 2 children when he died. So men were not to be trusted! But when Will catches up with her, he makes a bargain for her to care for the children in order to pay him back. A fast paced story filled with humor and wonderful characters and two adorable children you will fall in love with guaranteed! Love this series although this can be read as a standalone although you really want to read them all!
Kilted Sin by Tammy Andresen is a phenomenal Highlander romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Andresen has given readers a well-written book with an outstanding cast of characters. William is working to make his property profitable and help his people. Gemma's husband left her to support herself and disappeared. When she receives a letter from a solicitor she sells everything to travel and collect her inheritance. Running out of money she steals Williams horse and money along the way. William and Gemma's story is loaded with drama, humor, sexy bits and action. I enjoyed reading Kilted Sin and look forward to my next Tammy Andresen book. Kilted Sin is book 3 of the Brethren of Stone Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Another sibling in the Sinclair family has the chance to be in a rewarding relationship, but the couple must first deal with many complicated issues. There are also numerous feelings felt as they come to know one another better, and they range from mistrust to happiness to uncertainty. I have found the stories in the Brethren of Stone series to contain interesting characters, and I really liked the main couple in this story with their engaging personalities. KILTED SIN is compellingly enjoyable at all times.
When William Sinclair became the new laird after buying land next to his brother, he wanted to make it profitable for himself and the crofters. But before he can finish his plan, one sneaky woman takes the little money that he has left and rides away on his horse. Adding to his troubles is the two children for whom he is suddenly responsible. Upon locating Gemma McClaren by accident, he offers her the chance to not be arrested for her actions if she will take care of the young boy and girl. Reluctantly she agrees to Will’s suggestion, and this leads to some rather challenging decisions for each of them to make in the future.
Tammy Andresen always creates fascinating scenarios for her characters, where the unanticipated often happens. Will wants to be a laird who makes those working for him happy, but several circumstances are not going as he wishes. When Gemma along with two children cause more tough choices for him, he comes to quickly realize his life is becoming way too difficult. I really liked Will in the past stories of the series, and his own book is emotional with hints of humor. The trials that Gemma is facing shows what women had to live through in this period, and the events in her past had me sympathizing when she felt indecisive about any current situations. Scenes featuring the loveable children are delightful because of their comments and deeds.
Another heart-melting winner in a thoroughly enjoyable series!!!
Dependable, caring and kind-hearted Will never feels he's good enough, however, having just invested everything in a new farming venture he can't afford to fail, so the last thing he needs is any unexpected complications, so when Gemma quite literally steals the clothes from his back, his horse and his last coin the devastated (not to mention highly embarrassed) laird thinks his day can't possibly get any worse until he returns home to find two sweet orphan children sitting in his kitchen. Resourceful down on her luck Gemma who, abandoned by her worthless husband a few years ago, has been struggling to survive leaving her alone and vulnerable to the feeling of being lacking in some way. Together they shouldn't be compatible but their soul-deep attraction coupled with a heart-aching yearning is just too electric to ignore. Conflict, warring emotions and misperceptions result making this tale incredibly absorbing, passionate, witty and heartmeltingly tender. Packed with witty banter, an abundance of heart to balance out the deep insecurities, that threaten to tear them apart, and an instant family to lighten the burden. With the addition of two of the most endearingly lovely children, Fiona a broken hearted four year old girl and her adorable little brother, Ewan, will positively cause your heart to melt. Will and Gemma's story follows the same winning plot structure as the others. Two people fighting to overcome their insecurities, not feeling good enough for the other, falling deeply in besotted love and realising that the other completes them so harmoniously but what can they positively have to offer? The destination and journey might be the same but it's the details in getting there and it's allure that makes this one fun sweet ride you'll be glad you went on!! The Sinclairs really know how to touch your heart and keep you thoroughly riveted and absorbed in their fate until the last word. Another fabulous addition to the series which despite some very tough competition might just be my new favourite.
This series about siblings who lost their parents at early ages is so heartwarming. The 3 brothers we have met so far in this series have been honorable, handsome, hardworking, funny, tender and kind. Will Sinclair is just so sweet and they kind of man you would wish your daughter to find.
Gemma McClaren learned early that men were not to be trusted - she married a man whom she thought she loved when she was 17 yrs. old and he left her with nothing. After 3 yrs., she was notified he had died but not before finding another woman and having 2 children.
The story had some hilarious parts and a couple of parts that I needed to drag out the tissues - but you just couldn't turn the pages quickly enough to see what happens next and it was nice to revisit family members from the previous 2 books in the series.
I was gifted this ARC and am so glad to highly recommend it to all historical romance readers. Tammy Andresen has told another wonderful family story with loving characters.
Laird William Sinclair is a good man. Like all his brothers he helps those around him, takes care of the less fortunate. Gemma McClaren has learned the hard way that men are scum. She won’t ever fall prey to one again. Yet, even she feels a little guilty when she steals a handsome laird’s money, pants and horse. He hadn’t actually done a thing to harm her. Her guilt quickly evaporates when he tracks her down with two small children in tow and demands she repay him by becoming nanny to the children. If she doesn’t, he’ll report her to the authorities. A lovely novella, I think it’s my favourite so far. Will is so caring, hard working, patient & yet is lacking in self belief. Gemma has been badly hurt by her late husband & finds it hard to trust. They are perfect for each other but they nearly let their self doubts ruin a budding romance. As with all the author’s books the characters have depth & the pace is very good. Once again I read it in a sitting as it grabbed me from start to finish My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Struggling to make ends meet and despairing of ever being good enough to compare with his brothers, Laird William Sinclair is not in a good frame of mind when the tricky Gemma McClaren takes advantage of his good nature. Will decides that when he finds her, he'll teach her a lesson she'll never forget. He didn't realise just how quickly that would be. Blackmailing Gemma into being a nanny to the two children foist on him, he quickly comes to realise that his first impression may need a bit of readjustment. Gemma also has to reframe her picture of men in general, as she comes to learn the that Sinclair men in general and Will in particular, are kind and generous to a fault. Will is as strong and lovable as his brothers, and there is a part of Gemma in all of us, making me realise that there is always hope for every situation. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful Highlands romance that is part of a series, but nevertheless is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion.
I love this story but I love all of Tammy Andersen’s stories. This was truly the most wonderful romantic stories. You actually get to know each character in the story, no matter the size role they play in the story. You can’t help fall in love with Will. Sometimes I wanted to knock some sense into Gemma. I couldn’t put the book down. I am 74 years old my life is busy and a good life, but sometimes you enjoy getting into a book that actually sweeps you into the story so well you feel like it’s your family and it’s good to feel a part of the book it was written that well thank you Tammy Andersen for being a fantastic author. By the way, any time she has a new book release, I am ready to buy it. You keep writing and I’ll keep reading your books.
Kilted Sin by Tammy Andresen is book Three in the Brethren of Stone Series. This is the story of Gemma McClaren and Laird William Sinclair. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book. Will is working land that he bought to raise barley when he goes to cool off in the lock his horse and money is stolen by Gemma. Gemma doesn't trust men and doesn't think anything of taking WIll's horse since she doesn't know him and assume he like other men. Gemma is traveling and ran out of money and took from Will. But now he has tracked her down and he is making her be governess to work off the her debt. But sparks are flying between the two that lead to more than a debt.
Tammy can write the most charming and wonderful stories. Kilted Sin by Tammy Andresen is book 3 in the Brethren of Stone series. Though in a series this book can be read as a stand alone. I truly enjoyed every minute of this highland story and I just love how honorable the hero is. Tammy has a true gift at creating such endearing and wonderful stories that are original and you cannot help but fall in love with her characters. This story has rescue, theft, trust, mistrust, a cheating husband, family love, jealousy, betrayal, an inheritance, poverty, helping one another and love. I highly recommend this book.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
So many emotions with this book. The beginning is actually pretty funny. Will walking home naked is pretty hilarious. And all because of a troublesome woman. Then you find out the truth behind what Gemma did and feel kind of sad for her. Then the kids show up and it’s more sad mixed with sweet. Then there’s all the frustration with Gemma and her behavior in some ways. Will seems like the kindest man ever. She’s had a hard go of it though. And once more another truth comes out and then everything makes sense and once again you have to feel sorry for Gemma. But the end is really good!
I have to say that this is definitely my favorite so far of Tammy's series - and I've read most of them. It didn't scream Highlands to me - maybe because they mostly stayed in one place and it wasn't focused on that? - but the hero and heroine really drew me in. This one is the third in the series, but they can be read as standalones. I haven't read the prequel novella or the first two in the series, but I will be now, for sure.
This book is mostly about Gemma, a young abandoned widow trying to live on her own, and Will, a new laird, starting with nothing but his land and an old house. Both people make a lot of mistakes before learning the value of family and working together for their common goals.
“Well, it all began when I tried to steal his horse.” A fast-paced story with wonderful characters and two adorable children. Both characters have issues to overcome. Tammy Andersen weaves their trust and growth into their romance as they get to know each other and reach their HEA. A good addition to the Brethren of Stone series.
Tammy Andersen has done a excellent job on this story about a man who they he wasn't good enough. The woman who's husband left her and found someone else and had two children. But they fill in love, and also taking two children and full in love with them. I give this story a four star rating
Kilted Sin by Tammy Andresen is a very enjoyable and quick read. I liked the characters and the storyline. I especially loved how the hero and heroine met. Just an all around great read that I didn’t want to end. I wish their had been a bit more to it.
I liked that each character had to learn to trust and learn of each other.
Even the children learn to love and work hard to succeed. To learn to trust when you have been deceived is not easy but the characters show rd that life can be different
A good continued story of the brothers. Will gets pushed into the lake by a horse thief. That's where the story starts to get interesting. Love the brothers and how they met their wifes. Good romance. Voluntarily Reviewed
This was a short, yet fulfilling story. The plot was a good one. The characters were well-written and likable. I've enjoyed the Brethren of Stone series.
Tammy Andresen does a great job of providing a story that you can't help but love. Will Sinclair has just bought some land and needs to get the planting done so he can support all the tenants depending on him. When he stops for a swi in the cold loch he meets Gemma MacLaren who immediately pushes him in the loch and then steals his money and his horse. If that isn't bad enough he comes home to find 2 small children had been dropped at his doorstep, left by the local orphanage. Will is an honorable man, he takes his responsibility serieously. Rather than feeling put-upon, he takes Gemma and the children into his home and falls in love with all three. the relationships they form are lovely to see and they make the Happily Ever After that much sweeter. I receied a free advanced copy of this book.
