I’ve been betrayed. A hit gone wrong. I'm hurt and hunted.

She helps me out of fear--an innocent snatched up in my bid to escape. I can’t let her live because she’s seen my face.
No survivors. No witnesses. That’s a code I live by and one I’ve always upheld. Yet when it comes to my petal, she makes me hesitate.

I want to taste her and make her mine in the most primitive way. Ravage her. Devour her. Allowing my need for her to take hold.

Unsure of who to trust, I feel the enemy closing in. I should set her free, but I can't. I’ll discover who has a price on my head and I'll end them, meeting blood with blood, and bullet with bullet.

Would she still want me when she sees me kill? Or will it scare her off for good?

An action-packed story filled with hitmen and heart! A dark romance that was unexpected and fulfilling!

New-author-to-me.

His Salvation is part of a series of interconnected standalones, each book features a killer, assassin for The Cavalieri Della Morte. This is Kay's story, Book #4. All the books are standalones. Complete standalones.

"A hitman of the highest caliber. A bullet to the head or a new home in a shallow unmarked grave, I never fail when I’m given a task. I’ve lost count of the lives I’ve snuffed out. There are too many to tally."

Dude, I was not expecting to like this, to be honest. The first part of the book, I'm like, wait, please don't tell me she's a weak captive and she magically falls deep in love. LOL. Says the dark romance blogger. It wasn't like that. The epilogue sealed the deal for me. There's a certain way you wind me up and this author did it. I guess sometimes I need to remember the gift of destiny. And I did. I loved the fact that everything came together because it was always supposed to. The alignment was on point with my feelings.

"The light to my dark. Day to my night. My salvation to a heart that’s only ever known heartache."

Would I have loved more backstory, sure. But, I feel like it would've taken away from the couple's interlude. I loved both characters equally. I'm all about a strong woman and I loved Eve. Something about looking death in the face and wanting it to devour me. She held fierce. And seriously, come take me, Kay. You were a pancake when I quit carbs. YUMMY! And the amount of steam was less than, and I absolutely loved and adored it. You don't get to love me because we had sex, ten times? They didn't. Thanks to the author for that. It didn't work like that. It was the feelings, the connection, the awareness, I loved. And the premise is one for the movies, heavy, actionable, and definitely researched. I'm over like, I got yo back, Kay, let's do this. That the type of feels you get. It's exhilarating, if you love death and destruction.

I definitely recommend to my dark romance friends, and HIGHLY recommend to the suspense readers. This played out like a double crossed hitman series I been meaning to watch. Bows head.

This was a story of two halves for me, with the second part convincing me much more thoroughly than the first.

Overall I'd rate this 3.5 on Goodreads and 4 on Amazon. It's a good solid read, with plenty of action, adventure and intrigue all wrapped up in a fast paced and well written plot.

So why the lower rating? I just didn't connect with Kay in the first half and would have liked more convincing of Eve's reaction to him. It had the makings of a dark romance but just didn't quite hit the right note for me. Kay would make her strip, would touch her sexually against her will but we never heard why he was doing it. Was it power? To intimidate? Lust? To prevent escape? It worked in terms of shock and dark factor but it didn't help me understand Kay as a character. Was he being an a'hole? Was he overcome by lust? What type of man was he? An anti-hero? A sociopath? A bad man trying to do doing good things? A good man doing bad things? Too many questions for me to really sink into the book.

And before you assume I can't cope with a dark book or an anti-hero please check my profile and my read list. Dark romances are my bread and butter, my go to read, my not-so-secret addiction.

Just around the half-way point we get a sudden one-eighty in the situation between Kay and Eve. It took a bit of squinting to make it look believable but it worked for me. Kay then became a much different man, one who I really liked, one whose actions and deeds were much easier to understand and interpret. He suddenly found his personality. He was a man driven to darkness by his life experiences, but at heart a good man doing bad things for the right reasons.

Eve was a much more defined personality throughout, easy to like and believable, picking her battles wisely and displaying an inner strength throughout the story. She, along with an engaging, fascinating and twisty plot, are what kept me reading this book. Usually an inability to connect to characters will have me abandoning the book as a DNF. The fact that I kept reading this book is testament to the overall quality of writing as well as what was a damn good story.

Claire Marta is a new-to-me author and based on my experience of reading His Salvation I would read more work by her. This is definitely a good addition to the Cavalieri Della Morte series and a dark-themed romantic suspense that is well worth reading.

4.5 stars ~ Jess

My favorite in the series so far!

I love this series and the different stories of men who make up Cavalieri Della Morte. This is Kay's book. Dangerous and deadly, we find him on his next job. What should be an easy in and out turns into something else completely. A hit that has gone wrong, a woman he just happens upon and then a suspenseful story to figure out who is behind the mess.

Evelyn is supposed to be on a holiday. Her first time away from home, the beautiful Italian countryside and then all of her big plans come to a screeching halt when a bloody man jumps into her car and tells her to drive. Evelyn is in for a bit of whirlwind adventure, to put it mildly.

This book was suspenseful, had just the right amount of dirty heat and was a good look into Kay's life. He has a history with some unsavory people from his life before Author and those old ties might be either his downfall or salvation. There is also a bit of the bond that these men have. This had a nice touch of the more personal side of not only Kay, but Gewain and Bors. And it made me excited for more of this series and to see what trouble await them. This is my first book by this author but I am drawn into her style and she will definitely be someone I check out in the future.

His Salvation is a faced paced, drama filled read with lots of twists and turns. Claire Marta is a new to
Me author and I can definitely say I will be reading more of her work as she tempted me and pulled me in with this dark read.

This book focuses on Kay Lockewood, a hired assassin, ruthless, the best of the best. He has lots of demons, but when he is forced into a situation with Evelyn things take a turn. He makes sure to never leave any witnesses... so will he get rid of Evelyn or will that pull towards her that he is feeling stop him?

The suspense and intrigue kept me hooked, waiting to see what was going to happen. If you haven’t read any of the Cavalieri Della Morte series then go and check them out.

Well what can i say about this author she totally nailed this story as she normally writes pnr, but i can definitely say that this book was a superb dark thriller with lots of twists and a roller coaster of a fast paced ride that Claire got spot on.

What is that saying about being in the wrong place at the right time that was very true for Kay Lockwood a hired assassin when he was being chased after a job went wrong, but it was not the same for Evelyn while she was sat in her car looking for a ticket she won in a competition for a weeks holiday in Rome her very first trip abroad.

Evelyn has been kidnapped by the dark assassin Kay who is trying to out run the mobsters that are on his tail after the job he was on all went wrong little knowing that taking Evelyn off the streets with him was going to change everything. This story had plenty of action with some steamy sex thrown in to the mix and the plot had you on your toes through out this story not knowing who was on whose side and who was plotting against them.

I loved this fast paced thriller, it had plenty of intrigue running through this story where it never never let me up for a breath till the very end.Five Huge Delle Morte Stars.

His Salvation (Cavalieri Della Morte series) by Claire Marta is the next book in the series. This book focuses on the assassin Kay,another one of Arthur's men. On assignment in his native land of Rome he is carrying out a hit when he realizes he has been set up. While on the run he ends up kidnapping Evelyn, a young lady who won a trip to Rome. Kay has all intention of killing her when he makes it back to his room but there is something about her that won't allow him to carry out the deed. I really enjoyed this story. This by far is my favorite story. It has so many different components that the story kept me interested from the beginning to the end. The story had intrigue, suspense, betrayal, lies, secrets, revelations and surprises. I am definitely loving these stories as well as experiencing different author's storytelling skills. This book was a strong 5 star read. Looking forward to reading other books by this author. Excited about this series and the next book to come.

This is a standalone in a series of books by various authors about the Cavalieri Della Morte, a group of hired assassins, I have not read any of the other stories in this series.

It was an entertaining and dynamic story, full of action and drama. Kay's seduction of his captive Eve was swift but there is a complex situation developing in the background. Dark and pacy.

His Salvation was a fast paced and action packed story that gave me the HEA good feelings. Kay and Evelyn had instant chemistry even when he was kidnapping her from her once in a lifetime Italian adventure and throwing her straight into the violent life of a hitman.

Evelyn has always been a good girl, focussing on becoming a Vet instead of partying. When she wins a luxury holiday to Rome she barely makes it out of the airport when she finds herself kidnapped by a man with a stab wound.

Kay Lockwood, one of the Cavalieri Della Morte - an organisation of skilled assassins based loosely on King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - has been set up and Russian hitmen are hot on his tail and now his hostage has come to their attention.

As they try to stay under the radar their instant chemistry turns a dark situation into a spicy love story. Kay’s past is hard to outrun and Eve’s forced to trust him as he decides to save her life instead of taking it.

Full of twists and turns I really enjoyed watching them fight their attraction and fail amidst some pretty impossible circumstances. Definitely an author I will be looking out for again.

Wait for it

Kay is a bit different than the other men we have met so far in the Cavalieri Della Morte series
He is like a void - and not in the way of the assassin- it was like he was just empty - he just lacked. In the first few chapters I really couldn't connect with him but that changed as the story progressed and Kay finds there is still something worth fighting for
Eve is his polar opposite - She is vibrant and loving and damned determined to escape him. I really enjoyed her tenacity even when she knew her chances were slim and none.
We open with death and destruction (like it would any other way) and it only gets better.
Prepare yourself for one "oh hell no" revelation after another
Lots of twists, betrayal, angst, and forgiveness

Umm what?

Okay so let me just say the book is a joke. It's seriously a joke. And I'm an idiot who kept on reading because it was more hilarious rather than serious and a good story. And the plot twists were sooooo bad. Like oh my God, this was my first book by Claire Maria and I thought this one would be the one to impress me but here we go. It's a joke, this book is a joke, people.

Claire Marta weaved a tale of suspense that drew me in with its delicious darkness. Every moment intrigued me and had me wanting to know more, to see what boundary would be pushed next and most of all I needed answers.

The character development was skillfully achieved. I could sense the chemistry between the main characters and loved the dynamic. There was no weak willed character in this, the female character was feisty and not willing to give up. It created an addictive quality. The world building was solid. It had a realistic feeling to it.

It’s the storyline that really shined though. Claire Marta should add Queen of Twists to her author title. I never saw it coming. Just when I thought I knew what would happen the author pushed me into an entire different direction. I love a book that can keep me guessing and on the edge of my seat and Claire Marta delivered on that. It’s an emotional ride so be prepared but every moment of it was spectacular.

5 stars for a deliciously twisted and suspenseful read!

Ky, a hitman and fourth in Cavalieri Della Morte organization ran by Arthur, he's an excellent and ruthless killer with the sharpest skills and a black heart. Carrying his own demons, he is a savage man. Until her. Until Evelyn.
Evelyn, a beautiful lowly girl visiting Paris with an imitation of winning a lottery, quickly falls into unexpected situation when she catches the eyes of Ky and is forced to rescue him. What follows are the series of pull and push of lust, and something more. Fondness? Like? Love, may be? Only time can tell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.

This has to be the best one out of the four books so far. Although I love Vow of Obedience and Beautifully Brutal equally, I still can't get enough of this book. It has a beautiful blend of violence and lust, love and deceit, hatred and passion. All too consuming. Yet not enough. I can't wait for next book featuring Bors story already. Hands down, a perfect 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 star read!

This book was dark and everything you would expect from the author and a mafia romance. Evelyn aka “petal”is on a trip to rome when kay kidnaps her during a job. Kay is an assassin who belongs to a brotherhood of assassins. He is sent to rome on a job which goes south sharpish and he sees an escape via evelyn. At first evelyn is scared and only hate filled when it comes to kay and tries to get away as soon as possible. This endangers her life further and angers kay to no end. Kay gets them both to safety where there feelings evolve and change to something more. However with all mafia romances its not that simple or easy both are taken and its a fight to get back to each other. No spoilers but it gets dark and you never guess which direction it is going next. They are reunited only for a brief period of time but not to worry eventually they do get a hea together. You need to read this as soon as possible one click now you wont regret it.

Dark. Dangerous. Deadly.

These are three words to describe this book (and this whole series either!!) they provide these masterminds that are dangerous and work for evil people. It seems so forbidden, yet you absolutely love every word you read!! This story is one you don’t anticipate loving, but you devour every page because it is so good. The characters make the story one you will never forget. I’m a sucker for the alpha characters and how they love, but will never admit it. This story was an amazing addition to series and I can’t wait for the next one!!!

Evelyn and Kay are amazing and terrible together all at the same time. Their dark, evil world entwines and they get lost in it. It forces them to make decisions they don’t line, but know they have to. Surprises happen that are unexpected, but it leaves them on the road to a HEA (the best that these characters can have!). I can’t wait to see if or how the story unfolds from here!!!

Buy it today! You won’t regret it!!

Part of Arthur Calthorpe’s Cavalieri Della Morte, Kay Lockwood is one of the best Hitmen out there. Taught to leave no witnesses or survivors behind, but that changes when Kay gets injured during a hit gone wrong and has no other choice but to take Evelyn with him. Evelyn Thornton was at the wrong place at the wrong time when she is abducted by the hot and dangerous Assassin. She went to Rome to get a little R&R before starting her career as a veterinarian. That didn’t end up happening though. Both are on the run now until Kay can figure out who in the organization betrayed him while fighting his growing feelings for his captive. Every book in this series just gets better and better and I highly recommend reading them all! This is also my first Claire Marta Book. This is the 4th book in this series but can be read as a standalone. Told in dual POV and as all these books, it’s hot🔥🔥🔥!

His Salvation is a sinfully, delicious dark thriller with mystery, suspense, action packed drama and sizzling scenes.

When a hit goes bad, Kay is determined to find out who set him up and put a hit out on him.

Evelyn is a fiesty, smart mouth woman on vacation who just so happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time when she was kidnapped. Kay wasn't suppose to leave any witnesses behind.

Kay is alpha who always gets what he wants but will Evelyn give in to her desires to this filthy talking killer?

Evelyn and Kay's journey leads them on unexpected turn of events that puts them in deeper dangerous waters fighting for their lives.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be reading more of her books!

Each book of the Cavalieri Della Morte Series is written by a different author. I'm so hooked on this series!

This book is part of the Cavalieri Della Morte series and I am absolutely loving the series.

This is Kay’s story. A hit gone wrong. Is he being framed or has someone messed up?

A wrong turn has Evelyn in his grasp. How far will he go though.

Loved these two characters. While reading this my mind was trying to jump forward to see how it would end but I certainly kept jumping to the wrong conclusions.

We get some Mafia thrown in which I liked.

I read this in one sitting. It’s a quick read but an oh so good read. Although I could rant that I wanted the story longer ( believe me if it was longer I’d have inhaled it too) I thought this was perfect.

This is a new to me author but I’ll certainly be reading more from her in the future. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

His Salvation, Book 4 in the Calvalieri Della Morte Series by Claire Marta is a great fast paced and action packed read. This is the first read by this author to me and definitely won’t be the last! Kay is a sexy beast that gets his job done as a hitman and lets nothing get in his way. He is dangerous and lethal, but that’s all he’s ever known.

Evelyn is a straight laced kind of girl. She’s a recent college graduate with a Veterinarian degree and always does what she’s expected to do. She’s won an all expense paid trip to Italy and decides she’s going to live a little!

When a hit goes wrong these two meet and Kay doesn’t know he can never do what he’s been trained to do. A dark twisted romance that is written beautifully and is so intriguing!

So continuing on with the Cavalien Della Morte series, we have Claire Martha’s Book. She is a new author to me. So far this series has just been ok for me. I’ve been waiting for that one book that will be 5 Stars. This book came pretty damn close and is the best out of the series so far.

I enjoyed His Salvation a lot. It did take a while for me to connect to the characters, especially Kay. But when I did, I loved them together.

The story pulled me in from page 1 and kept me wanting to read more.

I would definitely read more books by this author and I look forward to continuing with this series.

I loved this story. After Martyris and how different that book was it was nice to get back into a deep and connected romance. Claire brings two very different characters together and finds a way for them to make a connection.

This story has twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. But what you won't have to guess on is the chemistry and love between Kay and Evelyn. These two have a great romance that has to be read. I loved this book and enjoyed it, and I can not wait to see where we go next.

His Salvation was such an awesome blend of intrigue and romance! Kay is a top-notch assassin, but he's been betrayed. Eve is goodness and light, and the only one who can help him when no one else can be trusted. But can she handle the ugly truth of who he is? I wanted a little more to Kay the man, but he was, without doubt, a cold persona in the beginning. Until Eve, that is. Once things began to heat up between them, I found myself more invested in these two. This was a thrilling and hot read!

Assassin, Kay is out in Rome on an assignment but is met with trained mercenaries instead. Evelyn, a tourist, gets caught in the crossfire when Kay escapes using her and her car to getaway. The last thing Kay needs is a hostage when he should be busy trying to find out who set him up though he cannot seem to let Evelyn go.

This review is gonna be spoiler-y and possible trigger warning ahead. I’ll start off with saying that I did enjoy the writing style and wanted to find out who wanted Kay dead. And that’s really why I stuck with it because there’s a whole lot more that I didn’t like about this book.

For starters, the book could have done with some editing… I mean seriously the were vs we’re slip ups. The ‘romance’ was ridiculous because of the dubious/questionable consent making the pair hard to -ship and also it wasn’t very well developed so felt like it came outta nowhere and very based on the physical side of things. I’m also starting to see a pattern with this series (I read book 5 first then this one) with the heroine going through some sort of sexual assault only to have it brushed over or swept under the rug too quickly. Now I don’t want to split hairs or anything but I think it’s important to point out that forced oral sex is still rape. It was concerning to me that the act wasn’t perceived as such especially since it was done under threat. Only when Evelyn was about to be did she go “he’s going to rape me.” I was taken aback not just by the scene but confused by the author. It just seemed so misinformed and didn’t sit right with me.

Loved Kay & Petal.

I really enjoyed this book in the series, it's my first book from this Author too.

Evelyn finds her path crossing with Kay another of the Hit men for the Cavalieri Della Morte. It's a case of wrong place wrong time. Or maybe it could be a twist of Fate, I'd like to think so.

The pace of this book was good it kept me enthralled. It had Dark elements and suspense with a few twists which I loved.
I really liked Kay I think he's my favourite of the Assassins I've met so far.

Evelyn was a strong female too which I was pleased about, she didn't crumble and showed strength when needed.

Their start may have been unconventional but I loved how they grew closer without even realising. The dynamics of their relationship changed and I liked that, I felt the connection.

A great addition to the series and I'm excited to read the rest. I'm hoping they're as good as this one.

It’s been a while since a book gripped me so much that I was reading it until at 2am!

I instantly connected with Kay - wow what an alpha male! He oozes sex appeal but also has that dangerous element, that makes your heart rate increase. And I LOVE a female character who has spark and is no pushover, which Evelyn demonstrates throughout the story.

Kay & Evelyn face some horrific situations and boy did it pull strong emotions from me. I cried and I screamed at my kindle - my heart fully invested with both characters’ welfare. Twists and turns were expertly placed, keeping me on my toes throughout this thrilling story.

This is the first full novel that I read by Ms Marta and the ease and flow of her writing skills, instantly grabbed my attention and drew me into a world that proved fascinating, dangerous and exciting.

His Salvation will definitely l join my list of rereads.
