Champagne, chocolates, and murder? That definitely wasn't on the menu.
When Claire London hosts her first all-out New Year's Eve Party at London Manor, the last thing she expects to find is a corpse in the closet. The discovery only leads to more questions--ones that she's counting on her hunky (although albeit dead) hubby and her mischievous kitty helping her solve.
Can Claire crack the case before she's charged with murder, or will her first New Year's resolution be to get out jail?
Find out in the third installment of the Spirited Sweets Mystery Series.
I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.
My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!
Red Velvet Revenge is the third book in the boxset. It is New Years Eve and Claire is throwing a party at London Manor. She, along with Milo, has moved into the Manor. Ellen, Amelia and her son are also living there. Things are going as well as they can when Claire discovers a dead body! With Nick off chasing an interesting clue things take a surprising turn. So far, this one is my favorite in this surprisingly excellent boxset. I enjoy boxsets but, with so many books vying for my attention it can take me awhile to complete them. I have ADD so the competition between books is a real thing. Usually I say I’m a mood reader, (while true it is somewhat a nice way of saying I get interested in a book when -oh look, a squirrel!- happens). The books in this boxset are quick reads. You might think that is why I am devouring this boxset. It is but, it isn’t. The fact that they only take an hour or so to read means I can usually get the book read and then I’m off to a new one. Which may or may not be the next in the boxset. I’m choosing to stay in the boxset, which is where my surprise comes in. I am devouring these books because they are capturing my attention. Each one draws me in, entertains me and leaves me excited for the next. So excited that I don’t look at all the shiny covers filling my Kindle screen. I’m telling you, get this boxset. If you do, let me know what you think, especially of Nick’s clue. I’m dying to begin the final book, so I’m off. Read this book either as a stand-alone or in order.
Red Velvet Revenge is book three in Stephanie Damore's newest series. I have enjoyed all three. This one may be my favorite. These are short, fun reads with an older widow who receives help in her detecting from her dead husband. (Don't scoff. The concept works!) The book works well as a stand alone, but I have read, and enjoyed, all three! This story made for a pleasant break during this hectic holiday season.
Claire is having a New Year's Eve party at the London Manor. Seems that all of Bleu Clair Bay was planning on attending. Everything is going really well until....Emily the caterer is upset with Milo the cat getting into the food and things. Claire tries to get Milo to behave, but when she sees Emily chasing after Milo with a broom she fires her on the spot! Then Claire's sister Autumn stops by and sees her ex-fiance Derek at the party. They had words - of the not very kind variety to each other while everyone else looked on. Then the next morning when Claire was cleaning up she finds a dead body in her broom closet.....it's Derek, stabbed to death. She has to call the sheriff's office and let them know. Meanwhile, Nick comes by, Claire's deceased husband who is now a ghost, and tells her that the energy from the brook closet isn't Derek's. Someone older and stronger as a ghost. Is the London Manor haunted by an evil ghost? Did they kill Derek? How on earth will they ever be able to prove that? You will have to read the story to find out how everything turns out. Claire also gets some help from someone other than Nick in this one! I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
A quick good read that will surprise you with the culprit. Ghosts and murders. With great characters that you will be pleased to reunite with. She had been talked into having a New Year's Eve party but now wished she hadn't. Her mother was hell bent on being her normal self whilst the caterer had it in for Milo. Okay he didn't help matters by getting into the food but her reaction was way out of line. Now with the appearance of her deputy sister, her sister's ex-fiance was aching for a fight. Thankful the evening ended and next morning brought the full mess into view. As she opened the broom cupboard she found her sister's ex-fiance dead with a knife in his back. Who could have done this? Why was her husband's ghost sure that there were other ghosts present. Leaving the police to do their job the current occupants all made other arrangements. Now another body has been found. That of the caterer she fired last night. Can they find out who killed the two? Can they cleanse the house of any bad ghosts?
Claire has decided to host New Years at London Manor now that she is living there as are both of her staff from the bakery. When her sister Autumn's ex-fiance shows up with a much younger woman on his arm, Claire just hopes her sister won't pop in as she's A deputy sheriff on duty. Of course she shows up and the insults flow. Next morning when Claire finds a dead body, she just knows she should not have hosted such a large party! There's A lot more but this story is so short, I'd be giving it all away. Lots of misspelled words in the first two chapters and the charge of $1.99 when the previous book was 0.99 cents and longer, I had to drop a star in the rating.
Red Velvet Revenge is Book 3 in the Spirited Sweets Paranormal Cozy Series. This is a fantastic stand alone story, but I suggest you read the first two books because they are so much fun to read!!!
Claire is back and hosting her very first New Year's Eve Party at London Manor. What does she find in the closet but a dead body!!!!
Claire is still getting help from her (dead) husband Nick and her "helpful" kitty.
This novella I think is my favorite of all three. Its a fun mystery with plenty of suspects. I was surprised at the ending. A GREAT fast fun cozy paranormal read with ghosts and more!
Nick and Claire continue to charm, and I love Claire's idea of using her windfall to create a loving community for herself and Milo. Each instaNickllment in the series offers new revelations about Nick's world, which keeps the paranormal aspects fresh. I also appreciate the surprise of discovering Claire is not as alone as she may have thought... ! The mystery is engaging, and the instant karma element is both surprising and satisfying as a solution. The only small quibbles are the continued editing lapses and the rather abrupt ending. These are not enough to turn this reader away from such an enjoyable series!
Really really fast easy to read cozy mystery. It really does take only a couple of hours at most to read.
It was over before i knew it. I admit I just had to go look at something from earlier in the book, The business with the ghosts can be a little confusing.
The ending solves it all but I have personally have problem with how it did not say how the police were going to close the case. A couple of simple little lines would have been nice. Might just be me since I read too many mysteries.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
In Red Velvet Revenge readers are introduced to a few new - hopefully permanent - characters. The introduction of these characters helps to expand the storyline beyond a one dimensional narrative. A good thing, of course.
The paranormal experience also gets kicked up a notch in this the third book of the Spirited Sweets Mysteries furthering the entertainment side of the story while remaining within my boundaries of what is believeable and what I would label too far over the top.
A cozy mystery series with charm - enjoy the main character who is a medium and sees ghosts, particularly her deceased husband Nick.
She inherits the family estate from her grandmother and in law, and when she hosts her first formal party, someone dies and she, her sister the cop and the sweet, supportive cast of family and friends all attempt to solve the mystery.
Very much enjoying the series and an absolutely worthwhile read
Red Velvet Revenge another quick, cozy mystery 4.8 stars
I just love this series; I guess you can tell since I read one every evening. The characters are charming, especially the car Milo and the related ghosts. The mysteries are cute and not contrived and the New Year's party was certainly better than any I have been to. Lots of surprises and fun. Hurry up and enjoy these.
A Haunted New Year's Eve Cozy Mystery This Spirited Sweets novella is about a haunted New Year following a fancy New Year's Eve open house. The story is full of suspects and motives. It is a fun and haunting mystery. I received this Arc book for free and this is my honest review.
I’m loving this series! YThe books in this skillfully written series pack a lot of mystery in small packages. These are quick reads with interesting plots and believable characters. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Fast-paced quick read with Claire getting help from some totally unexpected sources. Love the addition of the new deputy and hope he's around to help solve more mysteries in the future. Such a fun series. Already starting the next book.
