Women in the Crucible of Conquest: The Gendered Genesis of Spanish American Society, 1500-1600

I used this as source for a research paper, and it was compelling enough that I decided to read the whole thing. It was a great look at the lives of women in this era, the focus being on Aztec and Andean women. I will say that it was a more passionate view of this information, which some people might not appreciate. The author also makes a case for gender complementarity which is held as fact throughout. (Other sources I used for my paper claimed that concept didn't really exist in practice.)
