Deputy Tanner Dempsey paid a high price for an undercover op gone wrong. Nobody understands a dangerous past better than Bree Daniels. USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Janie Crouch writes what she loves to read: passionate romantic suspense.
After a lifetime on the East Coast—and a six-year stint in Germany due to her husband's job as support for the U.S. Military—Janie has settled into her dream home in Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. She loves engaging in all sorts of adventures (triathlons! 200-mile relay races! mountain treks!), traveling, and surviving life with four kids.
Heroes exist. Let a Janie Crouch book prove it to you.
This story picks up where the previous book left off, and it was such a tangled, twisty little plot, that I was guessing throughout. I absolutely loved this story!!! It was a fantastic read. Once I started I did not want to put it down. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time.
This is a fast-paced, engaging read that hooks you in from the first page with the intense opening scene. Emotions run higher, bonds deepen and romance blooms as Bree and Tanner fight for each other and their lives in the second installment of the series. It was an amazing read and I cannot wait for the next instalment.
Bree and Tanner are back again! Picking up about three months after the events in Calculated Risk, Tanner finds himself in the middle of a multiple murder investigation-and it’s not looking good since he’s considered the criminal.
Again, Crouch has the RS aspect down pat in this fast-paced second entry to Bree and Tanner’s adventures! From friends and foes to a few surprises, I was definitely kept on my toes! The romance is once again, mostly closed doors. Along with a few steamy kisses, they do make progress on the emotional front.
I am curious to see what happens next since this is to be a four book set when it’s all said and done. The books could potentially be read separately, but the nuances between Bree and Tanner make more sense when read in order.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Interesting how in this book it was Tanner's past that came at them. I liked how Bree supported Tanner through out things, heck she got so mad that she went and got her computer, hard at work to find out what was going on. When it all came out I was sad that one person could be so screwed up in their thinking and caused so much damage. The only good thing to come out of things was how Tanner and Bree cememted their relationship and how Bree has more people in her circle with Tanner's family.
Continuing the adventures of Bree Daniels and Tanner Dempsey. This book begins about three months after the previous book ends. Bree continues her work at the diner and has made progress in acquiring social skills. She is still insecure about those skills and worries a lot about saying or doing the wrong thing. Fortunately, everyone around her is very understanding of her occasional gaffe and give her plenty of encouragement. Tanner is still her number one cheerleader. He is head-over-heels in love with her, but also has the patience to let things develop at a pace that is comfortable for her. What he hasn't shared with her, as yet, is the PTSD from an undercover op gone wrong. His attempts to protect her from his issues exacerbate her fears that she is doing something wrong in their relationship.
The peace that they've enjoyed since The Organization was brought down comes to an end when Bree discovers a dead body in her yard. The man was a criminal that Tanner had helped put away and was recently released from prison. There are no clues as to who killed him or dumped the body in Bree's yard. Things get a little more complicated when a second man is killed who also has ties to Tanner. He is put on administrative leave while the two murders are investigated. It quickly becomes evident to Tanner and Bree that someone is setting him up. The question is who and why?
The suspense is intense and fast-paced from the first scene to the last. The story opened with Tanner reliving an incident from the past that continues to haunt him. As the evidence piled up against him, those issues are one more mark against him. The best chance for Tanner to clear his name is to evade arrest, and he and Bree go on the run. With Bree working her computer magic and Tanner applying good old logic, they work to find the truth. There are any number of possible suspects, and the twists and turns kept me guessing. Just when I thought I knew who it was, someone else would move to the head of the line. The final confrontation was unexpected and intense, and I was on the edge of my seat until it was all over.
One of the things I enjoyed the most was the continuing progression of the relationship between Bree and Tanner. Each is protective of the other, which becomes more evident as the danger increases. In the first book, we saw Tanner's sensitivity to Bree's trauma. In this one, Bree gets her chance to be there for Tanner as he finally opens up about the devastating events of three years earlier. I loved the way that Bree stood up to him, reminding him that she is not fragile and kept herself out of danger for many years. It was heartwarming to see Tanner realize his mistake and promise to do better. I loved the end of the book and seeing Tanner's mom help Bree know the truth of his feelings. I can't wait to see what is up next for them.
Deputy Tanner Dempsey paid a high price for an undercover op gone wrong. Nobody understands a dangerous past better than Bree Daniels. Together they have to take on those real-life demons in order to stay alive. Keeping one step ahead of ruthless killers is their only option and risk is their constant companion.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-SECURITY RISK is the second instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult BREE AND TANNER THRILLER romantic, suspense series focusing on computer hacker Bree Daniels, and Deputy Tanner Dempsey. SECURITY RISK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from three first person points of view including Bree and Tanner SECURITY RISK begins three months after book one Calculated Risk but three years after Deputy Tanner Dempsey’s life imploded. Following an undercover op that went all wrong, Tanner struggles with what happened and the men that were lost. Fast forward to present day wherein someone is stalking our story line hero, someone who is framing Tanner for sins of the past. What ensues is the ongoing relationship between Tanner and Bree, and the potential fall-out as a number of people are caught up in a game aimed at taking Deputy Tanner Dempsey down.
Bree Daniels struggled with her place in Tanner’s life but Tanner Dempsey is willing to take things slow in an effort to allow Bree to settle into a new ‘normal’ routine. A computer hacker genius, Bree finds herself working at the local diner in an effort to keep things going at an even pace. Tanner Dempsey has no idea who is targeting him but a number of bodies, all with connections to our story line hero, aren’t making things any easier as Tanner struggles to prove his innocence.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Tanner’s brother former special forces soldier Noah, their sister Cassandra and Cassandra’s husband Graham; their mother; owners of the Sunset diner Cheryl and Dan Andrews; sheriff’s deputy Ronnie Kitchens; sheriff Duggan; attorney Ryan Fletcher; inmate Darin, and his brother Glen Carrico; police department psychiatrist Dr.Michalski.
SECURITY RISK is a story of family, friendship, vengeance and grief; a story of murder and betrayal; of love and moving towards a happily ever after. The premise is intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text; the characters are energetic and strong.
An intense thriller to catch the menacing killer, the mastermind behind the recent murders, the one who is going all out to frame Deputy Tanner Dempsey for the crimes and would gladly use Bree Daniels' life as collateral damage.
As a reader who is not a fan of serial novels and who likes to each book in a series to have a new couple finding their HEA, I am in awe with this story and how brilliantly the author manages to make me forget that this is part two to a serial novel of Tanner and Bree's life. Humbled how well it can be done, how fresh she kept the story, and how easily anyone could pick this book up and not be disappointed, thinking they are missing something - while not being too repetitive to those who had the pleasure to read Calculated Risk first.
To see Tanner and Bree's emotions and feels for each other grow slowly yet passionately and deeply, taking such root that has the potential forever after, was delightful and sweet. The desire is there yet the passion is mostly kept behind the closed doors. There are so much love and devotion between Tanner and Bree it is palpable, yet the depth of the feels managed to get me completely off guard when life got fragile, and I found myself in tears, hoping for redemption.
The fierce, mortal, on the edge suspense that comes up close and personal for Tanner and Bree and puts their lives and future in danger, was potent, vigorous, and gripping. The tempo, tautness, and energy of the tale stay high, the beginning of the tale getting the heart rate up and the following events keeping it accelerated as the story unfolds.
The sweet innocence of the romance mixed with brutal murders, lethal crimes that puts Tanner and Bree in dire straits. A thrilling and riveting continues to their story. ~ Five Spoons
This was first published on my blog "Lecture toute une Aventure"
This second instalment in this thriller suspense is really good i loved to see how the characters grew from book one and the fact that we are learning more about Tanner past in this story was a great bonus helping us see why he understand Noah and Bree so easily with their trauma since he also had his share. I really loved how Bree and Tanner takes their time to understand each other and build a real deep trust.
The intrigue is well written, now to be honest ....i guessed the villain and his motive right at the first time we get his point of view....(i do tend to find the culprit in book really early as general rule) so i can't say it's a 5 stars for me but it's really close because even knowing that i kept reading without interruption until the last page .Also we don't get confirmation before the end of the book so suspense is well present. There are twists, emotional moment, some funny ones and a lot of action too .
this is really a excellent suspense book to keep you entertained , could even be read as stand alone but i do recommend you to read the series in order as each book is really worth it.
This is the second part of Bree and Tanner's story, and it's a doozy! Angsty, dramatic and emotional, it's an intense read. This time, Tanner is in trouble. Dead bodies are piling up and he looks like the killer. Bree and Tanner work together to find the real killer. Bree sure has come a long way. I liked how she told Tanner that she's not fragile so that he wouldn't keep hiding things from her. She further proved her strength when she used her incredible computer skills to help him out. Bree is so cute. She takes everything so seriously and researches it to the extreme. Even sex.
This was an amazing mystery with so many twists in the story that I never knew what was going to happen next and certainly never guessed who the killer was.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. When I see 5-star reviews where the reader has received a free copy, I wonder whether it really is that good or if the reader just feels they should give it a high rating. But, I have to say, this book is definitely a 5-star read. Romantic suspense fans will love it.
This time, it's Tanner on the hot seat as bodies from his past cases start piling up. Is he a one-man vigilante team, or is he being set up? And who is this mysterious "man" who seems to be taking such glee in orchestrating it all? This is a must read that will keep you guessing right up to the end.
Security Risk by Janie Crouch continues the Bree and Tanner series and I really think the story made growth! Both Bree and Tanner develop as characters all while a murder mystery plays out that seems to frame Tanner.
I really enjoyed this very intricate murder mystery! I loved seeing Bree continue her personal growth. She is learning social/emotional skills and navigating a relationship. She isn't perfect and I really thought Crouch did a good job of showing Bree's struggles-when she knows she doesn't know what to do or say.
It was also great to see the danger focused on Tanner and his past this time so Bree has a chance to be a strong support system for him as he was for her. I loved seeing her be able to get back to computers without the fears and triggers of her past. Tanner's demons really show in Security Risk and I thought that was important. He was so strong and stable and capable in book one; it was fascinating to see what he keeps locked up behind his calm, cool exterior.
Security Risk by Janie Crouch is book 2 in the series and you need to read them in order! Fans of conspiracies, frame jobs, and mystery will enjoy this low flame romance! This is all off page sex, so if you want a romance that is "clean", I highly recommend this series! The romance is focused on them as people and how they can be a team as a couple. Its not so much about chemistry and the sweeping lust and more about the realities of relationships (if you were once hunted by a crazy guy who tortured you).

This book didn't make a huge impression on me. For a women with the QI of 892 (or something like that) I didn't find 'freckles' overly...smart? The writing didn't do anything to really support the claim that she was wicked smart other than she can hack things fairly easily using a laptop. All her deficiencies are chalked up to her terrible upbringing rather than her being so smart that sometimes other humans just make no sense to her, which I think would have been a better ploy in some places.
Tanner is the classic "perfect" man with a tragic past event that leaves him with PTSD he doesn't really want to deal with and a need to keep those he loves safe at his own cost. Which is fine. He was fine.
The suspense part is pretty basic with the classic 'someone is framing him for murder of multiple felons out of parole.' The actual killer is, in my opinion, quite obvious though there are some blatantly obvious attempts at misdirection. I will say it was a bit refreshing to have a woman who was actually super helpful in clearing his name instead of some bimbo who is towed around behind the 'hero' as eye candy. She even has some pretty witty lines that were decently amusing. So some points were won back here for me to take it out of the solid realm of "meh" and into "eh" territory.
If you are here for more naughty bits that one expects from a harlequin romance novel, you may as well sail right on by cause nothing truly happens here.
Conclusion
To make it quick, the writing was pretty basic, the killer was obvious, and the romance was nice as it carries over from the first book, but don't expect the wildly smart girl to be wildly smart. If you're in it for the smutty bits, keep on moving.
(Part of Harlequin Intrigue #1869 – August 2019) Three years suffering from PTSD, Deputy Tanner Dempsey still has nightmares of being the only survivor when he and two colleagues were captured by Viper, a ruthless group of thugs. Time brings changes and former Organization captive, genius hacker extraordinaire, Bree Daniels is definitely the brightest star in Tanner’s personal constellation.
Bree’s captivity stripped the few interactive skills leaving her uncomfortable with people. Socially inept and insecure, Bree doesn’t understand or know how to help Tanner with his issues or handle his interest in her. But when Tanner’s accused of murdering released convicts he sent to prison. Bree’s instincts take over.
This read did well with plot, characters, action and reveal for my taste but others didn’t. Bree’s social and emotional immaturity lent a predatory feel to the romance then she knew it all in the next chapter, she was strongest when her geek flag flew as she helped investigate. Alas, the villain, while sinister was obvious to this cynical reader. Rating: 3.5stars
I'm loving the Bree and Tanner series. The excitement is top-notch, the romance mild yet compelling. I look forward to each installment as much as the first. Usually sequels take a dip after the first book, but not in this case. The continuing romance and plot have me eagerly awaiting each book. Great read, with likeable characters.
This book is a sequel to Calculated Risk. I am including my review of Calculated Risk.
Calculated Risk: I received an ARC for this book. Bree is a genius and as a child she and her mother had been held against their will. She was forced to help "The Organization" with programming. She and her mother were tortured to ensure her compliance. Her mother is finally able to escape with Bree. They spend years running, always on the alert. They continually changed locations and lived in fear. When Bree's mother dies, she is on her own. Her cousin, who was still held by "The Organization" contacts her and tells her that they have found her and that she must leave immediately and that there was something left in her car. Bree grabs her "go bag" and climbs out the window as men are breaking into her home. Bree makes it to the car and discovers that there are two infants in the back seat. Bree escapes. She goes from town to town in an attempt to avoid those trying to capture her. She soon is running out of money. When she is confronted while shoplifting diapers for the babies, the sheriff pays for the items and recommends that she stop at a diner on her way out of town. The owners of the diner take her under their wings and offer her a place to stay and a job. The relationship between her and Tanner begins to develop. He knows that she is hiding something and plans to find out what her secret is. When she is found, Tanner learns her secret and is determined to protect her. The characters are strong and grab you from the beginning. The plot is exciting and thrilling. I couldn't put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend it to everyone.
While each of these books stands alone, I would recommend that they be read in order. In Security Risk, "The Organization" is ready to activate their computer program. Bree knows that she must stop them. Working together they must take down the enemy. As they get closer to the release of the computer program, the action increases. The book is exciting and again I couldn't put it down. I was thoroughly invested in the plot and felt like I was part of the action. I would recommend this to everyone. The question is - can they stop "The Organization"? Will they survive the encounter with evil?
I’m a huge Janie Crouch fan. But this book wasn’t my favorite. It was nice to keep up with the same characters. This book can be read as a standalone, but would be much better to read after the first one.
In book one we see baggage from Bree’s past. In book two we see baggage from Tanner. Overall, the two need to work together and figure out the newest danger to them and their happiness.
It was great getting to know more about Tanner and Bree. The secondary characters are also pretty amazing! THe details for their pasts were a bit tricky to follow and left the reader a smidge confused, trying to reconcile book one and two together. I did like seeing how they worked together to grow their trust and work together.
Bree and Tanner have a slow burn going on, with a slow build up. Their backstory makes this perfect for them. Both ready for the next steps, but with life getting in the way.
Ms. Crouch is a great writer! I felt like throughout I was a bit disconnected or a disjointed, like not everything flowed quite right. Despite that, I was sucked in and had to keep reading to figure out the plot and crazy situations the main characters had to deal with.
I see how the book progressed the character’s story line overall. But mostly I just want Noah’s story! Hint: We get to see him in Shadow! And it’ll be interesting to see what trouble Tanner and Bree get up to in future books.
In this second installment of the series, small-town cop Tanner and genius hacker Bree continue to become closer. Their deepening relationship may be torn apart when new dangers arise in the small town of Risk Peak.
Tanner is fighting his PTSD and, while totally enamored with Bree, he continues to hold her at arms' length to try to protect her from his fears. As he continues to try to work through old traumas, Bree becomes uncertain about their relationship. Her insecurities revolving around how to interact with other people and create true and deep connections has her concerned that she is doing something to prevent their relationship from moving forward.
In the midst of their struggles to come together, dead bodies begin to appear in Risk Peak, and they all seem to be linked to Tanner in some way.
Both Bree and Tanner will need to learn to implicitly trust each other and rely on each other's strengths if they are to survive the new threat.
Tanner's character reveals new depth with the inclusion of his history in this installment of the series. Bree's character continues to evolve into someone who is more open and affectionate. As each of the characters change and grow, Ms. Crouch does an excellent job of exploring how these changes will impact their interactions and attachment to each other. However, the pacing of this story seems just a bit slower than the first book in the series.
A great romance read with the complexity of a new mystery thrown into the mix. I can't wait for the next installment to the series.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
Let me start out by saying that this STORY was wonderful! Now, even though I don’t ordinarily read continuation stories that concentrate on the same two main characters, this SERIES is wonderful! Deputy Tanner Dempsey has resolved some issues from his past, but others continue to haunt him. He was unable to save two of his best officers when they were captured by a syndicate. His life with Bree has evened out and he is looking forward to moving on in their relationship and Bree is happier than she has been in years. She is improving her social skills and working more with people and less with her computers. Once again, their lives are interrupted when criminals that Tanner had arrested in past years are being killed. He soon realizes that he is being set up to take the blame, but who could hate him that much and kill men just to get to him? Can Bree help him by using her hacker skills to find a connection between the victims? A full rush of emotion between the characters, the suspense and romance. I can’t get enough of Tanner and Bree! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
I can't get enough of these two, Tanner and Bree as they once again find danger in their lives and now it’s all centered on Tanner and his past. The two are still together building their relationship, wanting to take it to the next level. But it’s derailed when Bree finds a dead body in her backyard and the man is tied to Tanner. When another body turns up, also tied to Tanner, he becomes a prime suspect and it will take both of them to find out who is setting him up. An amazing read with suspense, mystery, some nail biting scenes and sparks sparks sparks between these two. Even though there are no steamy scenes, their connection is not any less and the steam is still there between them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these two and this second book was once again a page turner from beginning to end. I LOVED how they worked together and how Tanner opens up to Bree and the clincher, near the end when there is no mistake who he wants. The twists and turns kept coming and the mystery man was a real shocker...didn’t see that coming....CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This is a fantastic book which continues the story told in Calculated Risk but can easily be read on its own. The first book does give the reader more background information so I highly recommend buying both books and reading them in order. In this second book, a young woman named Bree has fallen in love with a police captain named Tanner. Some criminals he said should not have been paroled start to be murdered and Tanner gets blamed. Bree is something of a tech genius and starts researching to help him find connections between the dead men to find out who is really committing the crimes, while she and Tanner go into hiding for a few days. The questions become: Can they find out who the murderer is? Can they stop him? In the meantime, can they get Tanner exonorated so he doesn't have to search from jail? And can Bree and Tanner have an HEA with everything that's going on? As in many great suspense novels, there are big shocks and surprises that bring the worst danger of all. Again, I highly recommend this book and the previous one in the series!
Security Risk is book 2 in the Bree and Tanner series. We met Bree and Tanner in Calculated Risk. Although this can be read as a stand alone I highly recommend reading Calculated Risk for the little nuances in their relationship. I really enjoyed watching her grow. I have to say the beginning through me for a loop with Tanner. OMW I was hurting. As Tanner is set up for murders Bree does what she knows best. The line Bree and Tanner walk, is a tough one, and needless to say there is a little crossing of the line, nothing is black and white. I appreciate the steamy kisses. I am with Bree, more against the wall please, ha! The first time the guilty party meets Bree I knew that's who it was. They did a great job with the red herring, I was waffling. Enjoyed the interaction with Tanners family and excited about the future Bree is working out. I can't wait to see what Janie Crouch has up her sleeve for book 3. I would love to see some more Noah :) UM UM UM So grateful I received this arc! All thoughts an opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
I absolutely loved this story!!! It was a fantastic read! Once I started I did not want to put it down. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. There are twists and turns in this story to keep you guessing about who is actually pulling the strings and framing Tanner. This book is the second one in the series and while it could be read as a stand alone (new bad guy), I would recommend reading the first one prior to this one. You get to know the characters better that way and you will understand why Bree is the way that she is. You get a little bit of that here, in this book so you wouldn't be completely in the dark but you don't get the same details. I loved how this book picked up and it has a great story to tell. We get to see Bree and Tanner a short while after the first book ends and they have started to settle in and get back to life before the bodies start showing up. I love the way that Bree's mind works and the way that Tanner works with it. This story was just a fun read and I can't wait for the next one! Super excited to get back to Bree and Tanner and find out what they are up to next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I am at a complete loss for words. This story picks up where the previous book left off, and it was such a tangled, twisty little plot, that I was never able to get in front of it. I adored that this time we got a look at Tanner’s past and some of the enemies he’s made for being so good at his job. Needless to say, it’s a lot of enemies. And they all seem to be coming out of the woodwork to threaten the happiness he’s found with Bree at the same time. Fair warning: some of these are bright shiny red herrings that I took the bait for. I cherished my pet theories all the way up until the author showed me how very wrong I was. I enjoyed this book so much, I went back to the beginning and re-read it just to get a better handle on all the clues I missed and misinterpreted. I loved watching this pair fall deeper in love; seeing Tanner be open and vulnerable with Bree and witnessing her finding her own sense of power and self. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Fast paced and action packed! With the next story in the Bree and Tanner Thriller series, the story line picks up just a few weeks after Book One ended, and life has settled down a bit. At least they think it has until trouble comes knocking from Tanner's past this time. Lots of intrigue, excitement and surprises around every corner. Looking forward to the next two segments of their story!
Tanner Dempsey thinks it's finally time for a breather and to settle in to paving his future with the new love of his life when the past suddenly comes back to haunt him. Still suffering from the remnants of an undercover op gone wrong three years ago, Tanner is stumped as to who would be trying to frame him now.
Bree Daniels has never shied away from standing up for what she believed in, and right now that is Tanner. She won't sit by meekly and allow him to be railroaded just because someone decides they want to underhandedly have a beef with him. One way or another, she'll be standing by her man!
I just love these two characters. This time it seems Tanner is in danger and they both have to pull together as a team to overcome every obstacle they come across. Bree has a very strong personality and will have to prove to Tanner that she can help him and be his equal. She is a genius with killer computer skills and Tanner has all the skills that comes with being a deputy. They will have to combine all their skills and work together to find out who really is behind the killings. They are trying to work on their relationship but there is little time for romance with danger at every turn.
The mystery and suspence will keep you up late at night just to see what happens next. This story also is one that will keep you guessing who the bad guy is. The suspense and mystery is enthralling. It is a fast paced page turner that you will not want to put down. I can't wait to read their next adventure. I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
This second book , though some might consider it a stand alone, it’s really more of a continuation of the first book in the series, Calculated Risk. In it we met the once child genius Bree who was running from The Organization , when she met deputy Tanner. This time , while the relationship continues to develop and more of Tanner’s PTSD and history is divulged, Tanner is the one in danger. He’s being linked to deaths occurring around the area. Bree is determined to help him, as they go into hiding. Will they be able to figure out who is setting Tanner up? Is it the man he put behind bars? Will they survive the danger? Will they finally have the happiness they deserve? The plot is engaging, filled with bad guys, and heart stopping moments. The characters are well developed. In this story there is no black and white but rather variations of gray. Another well written story by this talented author.
Security Risk by Janie Crouch continues the Bree and Tanner series. Book 2 picks up about 3 months later where the book 1 left off. The readers see Bree continue her work at the diner and that she has made progress in acquiring social skills. Instead of she being a target of a madman this time, it appears that it's Tanner this time. He's on the hot seat as bodies from one of his past cases start to pile up. Someone is determined to make Tanner look like a vigilante killer. Can Bree and Tanner figure out who the mystery person is that is determined to ruin Tanner's life, albeit permanently? Or will they be too late? This was another sensational story with suspenseful moments, action scenes, rollercoaster moments and sizzling chemistry between the main characters. I liked the banter between the main characters. It's fresh and exciting. The plot is good. Not dull, but inviting and keeps you engaged. I can't wait for book 3 in this series.
As usual, Janie Crouch provides some of the most entertaining reads. Her books are always fast-paced, thrilling and brimming with emotional ups and downs. Security Risk is no exception. It's a continuation of Bree and Tanner’s story in Calculated Risk. Although it's not necessary, I recommend reading the first Bree and Tanner book before reading this one. Overall, I really liked the continuation of Tanner and Bree's story. As with the first book, there are some unforeseen twists and turns that will definitely keep you intrigued. That’s good since there's a 3rd book on the way—again with Bree and Tanner as the main characters. Now that I've finished this book, I'm wondering what the third book will be about. I can't wait to find out. Pick up these first two books; I'm sure you will enjoy these stories as much as I did. Well done again Ms Crouch!
Tanner and Bree are back and it wouldn't be Janie Crouch if we didn't get a healthy dose of suspense and danger with our romance. This couple has such great chemistry, and they just fit together - even when one of them is holding something back. As I've come to expect from this author, this is one of those stories that sucks you in and holds on tight. It's suspenseful enough that I blew right past that just one more chapter I kept promising myself - several times. There are a couple of likely suspects and just enough dangling carrots to keep me bouncing back and forth right up to the big reveal, which is definitely edge of your seat kind of stuff. On the relationship front, Bree and Tanner take another step forward as they get closer, and it's just enough to leave me wanting more of this wonderful couple. All in all, a great addition to a series that I can't get enough of.
This is the second book in this series and they need to be read in order. These books are so great. They hook me right from the beginning. I am loving where the relationship between Bree and Tanner is going. Bree has been through so much and more is coming in this book. Tanner has PTSD from a case in his past. An undercover case went terribly wrong. To this day Tanner blames himself even though there was nothing he could have done. Now someone connection to that case is back and it isn’t good for Tanner. Bree gets caught up in it as well. She maybe just what Tanner needs to get to the truth. I was completely surprised by who was coming after Tanner. Which was a nice surprise. This book was action packed. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I love Bree and Tanner so much. Great job Janie.
