According to Ken Blanchard and Jesse Stoner, vision does not have to be magical or intangible, bestowed only by great leaders. Everyone is capable of creating a vision and bringing it to reality. Full Steam Ahead! shows how. This practical and inspiring guide uses an entertaining story about two people who are each struggling with the need for vision. Readers journey with them as they discover the three elements of a compelling vision and the guidelines to create a shared vision that unleashes energy and potential. An appealing, easy-to-read book, Full Steam Ahead! clarifies the differences between an enduring vision and a time-bound goal; shows how to create a sustaining vision that will provide focus, energy, and direction over time; and presents a foolproof plan for engaging people in organizations to become involved in shaping a vision that resonates with their own hopes and dreams.

I liked the way the story was presented. Real world examples and fun and easy to follow. It is a practical guide for planning your vision, key components and how to execute.
Blanchard and Stoner come up with a story about a new employee summarizing key points of vision from the leader of a company who is the son of the founder.
In the story, how to develop and communicate vision in a company, in a department, in a family, in a life is discussed.
CONTENT OF VISION:
PURPOSE: -it's your reason for existence -it answers "why" -it is significant and noble
PICTURE: -focus on the end result -it's a picture you can 'see', not vague -it's proactive
VALUES: -they answer "how" -they guide your daily behaviors -the need to be consistently acted on
PROCESS OF VISION:
HOW IT'S CREATED: -involvement of others -honest assessment of current reality -creative tension (reality now and what it can be)
HOW IT'S COMMUNICATED: -keep talking about it, share info and progress -interpret events in light of vision -once it's understood, the vision can be a rallying call
HOW IT'S LIVED: -set goals -take action -stay focused on the vision, reset goals -create supporting structures
I plan on using this as I continue to refine the vision for my life and work
The book nicely emphasizes on how to build and maintain a vision, the concepts are based on humen inner values inspired by things existing in ontology, I strongly recommend this book alongside with concepts and theories in transactional analysis and NLP.
Purpose explains why you exist and values explain how you act as you pursue your purpose.
Purpose tells why; values tell how. When you have your values in place then you can make a decision based on it; you can ask yourself what are my values and then act accordingly.
While the ideas are sound (have a vision, act on that vision) the book is a complete waste of time. It's written as a fictional story/novella, with so much filler I could skip pages at a time. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Boo.
Nothing earth shattering as far as creating a vision but I love how the information was presented as a story/memory as opposed to straight facts. It made it easier and more enjoyable to follow along since you could see the concepts in action.
"Los valores proveen pautas amplias sobre cómo debe uno proceder mientras persigue su propósito. Tienen que describirse con claridad, para que se sepa exactamente cuáles son los comportamientos que indican que el valor se está viviendo."
This book is about creating a vision to help you accomplish great things in your business or your life.
A vision is a clear picture of the end result. Purpose tells why. Vision tells how. Over all vision helps achieve the following: 1. Knowing who you are 2. Where you are going 3. What will guide your journey
Visions evolve and grow over time. This book had some excellent nuggets including telling the story of Terry Fox, who was a Canadian 18 year-old amputee. Fox lost his leg due to Cancer. He decided to run across Canada to raise money and awareness. Terry Fox had a vision and accomplished great things. This book was better than I expected.
The book is very inspiring and if it was real, it would have been a wonderful story. It encourages focus and direction in our work and personal life. It provides realistic suggestions and tips on how it can be effectively done. Check out my book review for more information: www.mybookside.com/book-titles/full-steam-ahead
I like this book for the sense of job survival, new challenges and the opportunity to innovate in your common routines not for only to give an idea that revolutionize the market, it to give a feedback of your commons job tasks to your boss, it is like to following a well defined methodology in your job.
I am very big on creating vision before you jump in to start a project. It doesn't matter what the project is...personal, professional, technical...whatever. This book is written as a story so it helps lock in the concepts, but also helps you understand how to create, communicate, and live the vision. Learn the difference between vision, purpose, mission, and goals.
En la empresa que trabajo teniamos un problema parecido al que plantea el libro, si crees que tienes una visión correcta y bien estructurada debes leer este libro y probablemente se demuestre lo contrario.
Good book for help with setting goals and becoming more clear on your vision of what you want to achieve + how to get there. Written in typical Blanchard style (super easy to read!), it's quite easy to fly through the book whilst still retaining a lot of information.
Incredibly inspirational! This audio talks about developing your core values, mission and purpose in order to fullfill dreams. It can be geared toward personal mission statements or business. It is told in a story which makes it unique and easy for a self help book.
I always enjoy Ken Blanchard's books because they keep information simple. This format makes info easy to learn and then simple to apply for others benefit.
No se pueden hacer muchas cosas cuando estás en cama en un hospital y bueno... la verdad es que casi todos los libros de negocios son lo mismo, poco aportadores. Salvo algunos títulos...
