Recommends it for: healthier lifestyle
Shelves: how-to
Caryn has showed the readers (especially teenagers) how to release their teenage problems and dilemmas by writing anything whenever and whereever they want to:) as she had faced them with those techniques. I think -merely the same with "Opening Up: The Healing Power of Expressing Emotions" by James W. Pennebaker- the method to release all our tensions, intense and stress by writing anything that come out across in our mind and heart is proven effective and benefial for our health (mentally and p ...more

Recommends it for: teachers, teens, young writers

A good starter book for young writers, and a good introduction to the writing process and lifestyle. The value of this book is in the early chapters, which motivate young writers to set aside insecurities and self-criticism and simply get words on paper. It presents writing and the creative process in a low-stakes way, a refreshing alternative to the average English class and the pressure to "write well" right from the beginning. ...more

This was a favorite book of mine as a teenager, and I revisited it while planning a writing class curriculum. The prompts are not as mind-blowingly original as I remember them being, but this is still a solid writing book for teenagers, full of encouragement and sound advice.

A quick and fun book about how to kick start yourself as a writer.

The book tells the story of how writing can save your life, and about how you can develop several habits to get yourself writing every day which is as we all know is the key.
