It is winter and in a nameless forest in the north, the paths of a cat and a hawk cross. This brief encounter will be fateful for both, as death, who roams silently through the cold night, joins them. “In Winter“ is reminiscent of a classic animal fable, but instead of a moral mediation, the atmospheric tale focuses on the inner lives of the characters and their inevitable relationship.

4 books1 followerRita was born in 1982 in Berlin and grew up in Frankfurt/Main and a small village in the eastern part of Hesse. Since 2001 she lives and works in Kassel. There she studied illustration at the School of Arts and Design as well as primary school teaching and educational science at the University. In 2007 she co-founded the independent publisher Rotopol for graphic storytelling. It was their goal to create a possibility to publish projects with a strong personal style, on a high creative level and independent from short-lived market trends while being able to create their own working conditions and collaborating with a continuously growing network of contemporary illustrators, comic artists and designers.
She also works as an arts pedagogue and gives workshops on comic drawing, illustration and screen printing. Since 2011 she teaches at Kassel’s art school for children and teenagers, where she works with people from the ages of three up to twenty and for the Stiftung Deutsches Designmuseum.

I liked it! It's carefully drawn and the illustrations are expressive enough that I think no text is needed. It's great discovering new artists!
And the print is so well made! Rotopol (the publishing house) doesn't fail.
