This time Eli isn’t letting Sapphire go without a fight. When her friend needs help escaping an abusive situation, he steps up, no questions asked. Short and sweet review for a short and steamy novella.
...she was his. She just didn’t know it yet.”
Fast paced and entertaining, I can’t deny I’d have liked a bit more but with strong characters, plenty of romance and a splash of action, Jaguars’s Mate is the ideal read if you’re looking to fill an hour(ish).
Copy received via NetGalley for an honest and unbiased opinion.
Jaguar's Mate was the first book I read in this series, and even though it's the eighth one in line, I thought it was a good introduction to these characters. We didn't see too many secondary characters, but there were a few appearances from ones that I think already have stories and those small glimpses were enough to intrigue me to want to go back and start this from the beginning.
As for the characters that the book focused on, I enjoyed both of them. Sapphire and Eli had a pretty intense and fast connection. They did have an encounter that happened off screen, maybe in the previous book, so this story picks up a few weeks after that. I wasn't lost about their meeting at all and instead really liked that I got to see them as they were now with Eli stepping up to be a friend to Sapphire when she needs help. And also to be there when the chemistry they have between them becomes too much for her to ignore.
Overall, I thought this was a really intriguing story and I would recommend it for anyone. You can definitely read this one without reading the other books in the series and I think it's a great way to introduce yourself to this world if you haven't already.

There is nothing better than one of Katie Reus's shifter mate stories, especially when the hero has to chase the heroine. I LOVE when a hero does the chasing. Another plus is that the heroine only did mild pushing away. She wasn't unreasonable and you don't have to wait long for her to realize Eli was worth the risk.
Key points in this book are: Jealous, possessive and protective hero that never felt like he was over the top with it. Strong heroine who was a great fighter but wasn't too alpha in her personality. The instant mate instinct was believable. An interesting plot that showed how well they worked together. And no outside interference in the relationship.
For a novella, this felt like a full story. I was not left wanting and it it hit every point I wanted to see in a book.
Another quick, sweet, and enjoyable instalment in the Crescent Moon series. This time Jaguar’s Mate gives us wolf-shifter; Sapphire and jaguar-shifter; Eli’s story.
"Can we just leave it at what it was and forget it ever happened..?"
"…There’s no way in hell I can forget what we did together."
What initially starts out as a two-night stand, quickly brings out all of Eli’s alpha mating instincts, something which sends commitment shy Sapphire running straight back to her pack… even though deep down she knows that she feels the same.
She was his… She just didn’t know it yet.
Rescuing one of her closest friends and her daughter from an abusive relationship in a neighbouring pack, provides the perfect opportunity for Eli to get up close and personal with Sapphire again, and it doesn’t take long for her to realize just how much she has missed him, and their explosive chemistry when they come together.
"I’m not letting you walk away."
A perfect little PNR vignette, the great thing about this series is that the novellas can all be read as standalones, they are also all nice and short so offer up the perfect couple of hour’s escapism.

Jaguar's Mate is book 8 in the Crescent Moon series and the first book I have read in this series. Eli and Sapphire meet one day and are immediately attracted to each other. They spend two wonderful days together until Sapphire runs off in the early morning hours. Fast forward one month until Eli tracks her down to a friends pack. Sapphire's friend Luna needs help getting her daughter away from an abusive mate and lucky for her Eli is available to help. I really liked Eli and Sapphire, although her reasons for leaving were kind of silly. They face some dangers together but it all wraps up very nicely in the end.
Paranormal shifter romance novella from the Crescent Moon series. Can be read as a standalone. Sapphire and Eli had a brief tryst but Sapphire is commitment shy so ran from the fear of getting attached. A friend in need has the pair in close confines on a rescue mission and those pheromones will not be ignored. Eli was willing to give Sapphire a little time and space to get used to him being around, but he knows she his mate. A sexy romp ensues. Eli is a strong wolf, knows what she wants and takes it.
I love the values of the wolf packs. No one puts up with physical abuse. It’s simply not tolerated and the abusers are extinguished. Sure, a bit harsh, but they are not human and they don’t live by human laws.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy of the book. A favorite author of mine.
The newest Crescent Moon series romance is an exciting and heated read that sets readers’ senses as well as imaginations aflame. Sapphire and Eli are bold and appealing characters that readers can easily connect to while become completely taken in by their story. The chemistry sizzles with volcanic heat and the relationship between them is quite rocky as their passion increases and sends Sapphire running from it. This makes a very entertaining courtship since Eli isn’t letting go of Sapphire without a fight with a fast pace plot that is full of excitement and danger with Sapphire and Eli stepping in to help Sapphire’s friend escape an abusive situation which forces the couple to spend time together. Readers won’t be able to find a dull moment anywhere in this delightfully entertaining read.
Jaguar's Mate by Katie Reus is book 8 in the Crescent Moon Series. This is the story of Eli and Sapphire. I have read the previous book, but fee you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Sapphire and Eli had a hot two day encounter but Sapphire slipped out on the last morning. Now about a month later, Eli has tracked her down. Elie is working to find out why she ran from but also steps forward to help her friend. Ms. Reus books are always a page turner for me and this one was no different. A quick hot read!
Cute, sexy, short second-chance story. It was one of those stories that once you start you cannot put down. Sapphire has had the worst kind of luck when it comes to men, thus has decided to keep Eli at arms length lest he falls pray to the curse. As pretty much the rest of the stories in the series, this one was fast-paced and engaging. Sapphire was no damsel in distress and Eli understood that from the get go. If there is one thing I love about this author’s PNR is that her heroines hold their own against the alphaest of alpha heroes, making them a delight to read. Overall it was a good read and a nice addition to the series.
*I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher*
When Sapphire hears that a friend's daughter is being abused by her mate she is all ready to go in a rescue the two of them from a wolf pack which is clearly failing in its duty to protect its members. The only problem is a shortage of pack-mates to help in her rescue which is when her alpha suggests his friend, Eli the Jaguar hunter. Sapphire and Eli had a one-night stand and she can't get him out of her head, the trouble is she is cursed when it comes to relationships, nothing good can come of getting close to Eli. But can she stand travelling in cross proximity to the shifter who makes her heart pound and remain strong?
I think I recently said that novellas were the way to go with paranormal for me, short enough that the alpha bravado doesn't irritate and with a tight plot-line. In this case however, I just felt that the plot never really got going, it was all about the romance. Also Sapphire's 'curse' was a bit of a misnomer - bad luck dating would be more accurate.
Anyway, it was a short fun read but for me there was not enough smexy times, not enough plot and it all felt a bit halfhearted.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Audiobook: Narrator – Jeffrey Kafer I’ve enjoyed pretty much everything I’ve listened to with this narrator and this audio was no exception. He has a smooth even voice that is perfect in every way. There may have been a time or two it fell a bit flat, overall it was another enjoyable listen.
I both read and listened to this book because holy heck, I love a novella that can provide a full novel feel. With Sapphire and Eli having met before, this book picks up with them reuniting at a time that Sapphire is in need of backup to help a friend in need. That helps to cover all the initial getting to know you stage between the hero and heroine so when they meet again things start with a bang. I absolutely love the all alpha possessiveness that Eli portrayed even though Sapphire is as strong and independent as any wolf shifter can be. That’s one of the reasons I love shifter books.
This has a bit of excitement and action as this couple come up against a group of shifters that have endangered Sapphire’s friend. There is plenty of shifter activity so you get to see them interact in their animal forms. The relationship conflict here was believable and actually one I’d never come across before which made it all the more interesting.
This is a fast paced read that never repeated itself and holy hotness did it have steam! There were plenty of incredible secondary characters reappearing from other books but nothing that took away from this being a complete standalone.
Sapphire has sworn off relationships. She’s been hurt too many times. She’s going to live on her terms. Until she meets Eli. She likes him too much. When she runs he follows. Their relationship crackles with tension. I enjoyed watching them spar with each other. I knew that when they went on a mission to rescue her friends that things would come to a head. I cared for both these characters. They are strong, fearless and caring. These shifters aren’t to be messed with. Katie Reus had written a strong story. It’s filled with great dialogue and an interesting setting. I enjoyed seeing these two in action. The Crescent Moon series is one of my favorites. I enjoy reading stories with a paranormal element. I like shifters. They are powerful and exciting. The other shifters add additional drama. Jaguar’s Mate was a satisfying read. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed my comments are my honest opinion.
Jaguar’s Mate is a novella in the Crescent Moon shifter series and is a short, steamy but fast-paced novella featuring Sapphire, a wolf shifter with commitment issues and Eli, a jaguar shifting bounty hunter who isn’t about to take no for an answer from his mate.
What I love about these books is that it’s usually the heroine who is reluctant to commit while, although the hero is still all alpha, at the same time he isn’t pushy with it in the usual “me Tarzan, You Jane” type scenario . He’s willing to let things move at his mate’s pace just so long as he’s close to her. All in all this book is a good way to spend your lunch hour.
Another good book in this series. I enjoyed it, but it was over too quick and not a lot of meat to the story. Eli wasn't letting Sapphire get away, not that she fought too hard once she told him why she ran. Nice to see peeps from previous books.
I have read a great deal of Paranormal novels but never one in this series by Katie Reus. Characters were well thought out as was the story line. Romance between Wolf Sapphire and her jaguar mate Eli. He knows she is his but she is afraid to commit. When they are forced on a lengthy journey to aid a wolf in another pack the Heat ignites for them. "A copy of this book was provided by KR Press LLC via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion.
Eli is just a very sexy being, “you’re going to tell me why you ran out on me,” he murmured, his voice all sin and seduction." Eli is just a generous man, “I’ll come with you. And you can peek at the goods if you want.” I liked this book, I loved Eli.
A short and sweet shifter romance novella. Left me wanting more. Will eventually write something more substantial when it’s not 2am and I’m dead tired.
Sapphire is cursed and she has the previous relationships to prove it. So, when she meets the man she knows is meant to be hers, she runs. Better to protect herself ahead of time, right? Except Eli refuses to let her go. He's fully aware she's his mate, and has a feeling she knows it too, but for some reason, she's scared of what fate has in store for them.
During a tense situation, one that involves her Sapphire's best friend, Luna, needing to escape her abusive mate, Eli proves his loyalty, and that his feelings for Sapphire are true. And Sapphire is beginning to realize maybe their was never a curse, that, or she was just waiting for her mate the whole time.
Will Eli and Sapphire get their HEA? What about Eli's job? Will Luna and her daughter be free? Is there someone out there for her, perhaps her actual mate?
One-click now and follow along as two people are reunited and discover they've found their one. I love that both Eli and Sapphire knew what they'd found, even if it scared her. Also, the fact that both were celibate until making their way back to the other was priceless. Katie's books tend to always be safe, or safe with exception, and that's why I love her work.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
If you are a Katie Reus fan, you already know what you are in store for here, folks. She never fails to give us an alpha possessive, protective, good guy hero, who doesn’t give up until he gets his girl. If she’s new to you, the accurate synopsis alone should help you decide if this short but very graphically steamy, animal shifter novella is a good match for you.
Everything flowed along as expected and good triumphed over evil, after a bloody, fight to the death showdown that is.
Sapphire, the heroine, does have some commitment issues to conquer before she’ll completely opens her heart to Eli. As a jaguar though, he’s patient and keeps his eyes on the prize, her.
Title: Jaguar’s Mate, Series: Crescent Moon (Book 8), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 160, jaguar/wolf shifter romance, stand-alone but part of a series, very short novella, alpha protective good guy hero, alpha heroine, very steamy smexy scenes, shifter bloody violence, afraid to love heroine, second chance romance.

REVIEW: JAGUAR’S MATE is the eighth instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult CRESCENT MOON paranormal, romance series. This is jaguar shifter and tracker Eli Scott, and wolf shifter Sapphire Zappa’s story line. JAGUAR’S MATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Sapphire and Eli) JAGUAR’S MATE follows the second chance relationship and romance between jaguar shifter and tracker Eli Scott, and wolf shifter Sapphire Zappa. Eli Scott found his mate, one month earlier, a woman who ran after a one-night stand. Hoping to reconnect with the woman that call’s to his heart, Eli heads into Kendrick Pack territory only to discover that Sapphire is about to do some tracking of her own. When her best friend’s daughter needs help out of an abusive relationship, Sapphire and Eli head into another wolf’s territory in an effort to rescue one of their own. What ensues is the rebuilding romance between Sapphire and Eli, and the potential fall-out as our couple find themselves hunted as well.
JAGUAR’S MATE is a novella-length tale of fated mates. Katie Reus pulls the reader in a fast paced, passionate and imaginative story wherein jaguar intends to claim the mate of his heart. The premise is encouraging; the characters are animated and strong.
Paranormal Romance, particularly Shifter Romance is my first love in reading materials, I will freely admit to that. I happen to love a series that is longer, where we’ll meet up with old book friends occasionally and has an overall appeal that draws me back into that world time and time again. The Crescent Moon series by Savannah Stuart and Katie Reus does all of that and so much more.
JAGUAR’S MATE is a quick story with fast-paced action, two likable main characters, some sexy times, definitely danger to be faced, and a romance that blends it all together seamlessly. Like any of the stories in the Crescent Moon series, this one could be read on its own but I’d still recommend the entire series for an in-depth reading experience.
Sapphire may believe that she’s cursed to never find her mate, but in reality, she’s not looking in the right places – like right in front of her with that one night stand that was so intense that she ran away from him and her feelings. Sapphire needs the comfort, the closeness of her wolf pack and believes she can never find happiness away from them. What she’s not seeing or understanding is that with her mate she will have everything she’s ever needed, but her fears keep her on the overly cautious, disbelieving side when it comes to the man who claims to be her mate.
Eli knows full well that Sapphire is his mate. And this time she’s not running away from him or their fate. Helping her come to the rescue of a friend who is facing an abusive relationship will keep them close, hopefully, long enough for Eli to convince her that they do belong together.
I enjoyed stepping back into the Crescent Moon world once again. Eli and Sapphire are quite the couple with stubborn streaks a mile wide, and they work so well together that the wait for Sapphire to realize just what Eli truly is to her is well worth it. If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, engaging, interesting Shifter Romance then JAGUAR’S MATE is a book you should have on your need to read list. I had a blast and I believe you will, too.

Favorite quote(s)/excerpt(s): Was he ready to be in an enclosed space with the leggy, blonde she-wolf whose scent drove him completely crazy? Yeah, he was f@#$ing ready. Thoughts: He shouldn’t think of her as his, but it was too late to stop it now. Because she was his. She just didn’t know it yet. There is just something so primal about that….a man setting his sights on a woman so intently, and her not even being aware yet that she has been claimed by him. I guess that’s part of what I love about shifter romances…the primal desire that is such a part of it. And no one does this better than Reus! Her Crescent Moon series is a particular favorite of mine. You can’t wrong with a single book in this series! Loved it! Rating: A Review by: Sarah http://www.thebookreadinggals.com
This quick read is part of a larger series but can absolutely be read as a standalone novella. I’m not 100% sure I remember who anyone is most of the time, especially when there are a lot of side characters flying around in these worlds, and I didn’t lose anything from this book.
Sapphire has some baggage. Having dated a few people who, upon breaking up, immediately found their mates has left her with a bit of a complex. A byproduct of this is her determination to avoid long term relationships. Eli, unfortunately, has unfortunately had to suffer for Sapphire’s misgivings. After spending some time together that he thought was heading somewhere, she snuck out in the middle of the night, never to be seen again. She even used a fake name! After finally tracking her down, he is determined to make her acknowledge the fact that they are mates.
Sapphire has a bigger issue going on other than her love life, though. Her friend has a kid who has stumbled into an abusive relationship. After a lot of discussion and finally discovering she’s pregnant, they’re ready to make a break for it. Sapphire, being the tough chick and awesome friend that she is, offers to help them escape their pack. On her way out the door, imagine her surprise when she is saddled with a partner – Eli.
These two are great fun to watch as their relationship grew. I completely enjoy a self-contained short story that has a little bit of everything. There’s action, romance, adventure, and a HEA. If any of those thing interest you, why are you waiting? Pick this novella up today!

Review:
Another great read from one of my go-to Authors.
This is a quick read, but a well-rounded story for a small package. I love a good giving love a second chance story. This is book 8 in the series, but each can totally be read as a stand alone and be enjoyable to read. If you have read the series, you will see some familiar characters. I loved Sapphire and Eli. They are both great as individuals, strong, smart, caring but together they really do make a united force. They have just enough insecurities to add tension to their love story, but not insurmountable.
If you want a quick entertaining read, I would highly recommend picking up this book.
5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Author.*
Sapphire, a wolf shifter and the manager at the Crescent Moon Bar and Grill didn't have any luck when it came to the matters of the heart. All her relationships ended poorly, so she'd sworn off relationships and was extremely happy with her life. Then one day she met Eli and things got intimate between them. When things got to intense for her, she did what she always did. She ran.
Now she needed the help of the one man who'd ever made her feel completely alive, the same one she ran away from cause he made her feel too much, too fast.
Jaguar shifter and tracker Eli Scott knew that Sapphire was his mate but she kept running away from him. He wasn't about to let her go without a fight this time around. When she reluctantly accepted his help in getting her friend Luna's daughter Leslie out of a bad situation, he waited for his mate. Just like his inner animal's true nature, he was patient.
Eli and Sapphire found themselves facing some angry wolves who tried to harm them for helping their friends. But good won out against evil. Loved how protective and jealous Eli was. He finally told Sapphire about them being mates. He broke down her walls and she couldn't be happier.
JAGUAR'S MATE is the eighth book in Katie Reus and Savannah Stuart's CRESCENT MOON series. What a very fascinating, adventurous and alluring journey. 5++++
****I received this book without any obligation to review.****
This is another great adventure in shifter pack adventures from Katie Reus. I loved the maturing of the love and trust between Sapphire and Eli during their journey and rescue. I have to say the actual rescue was easier than I expected and was a less than satisfying conflict. Not every story can be absolutely perfect. It's still a very enjoyable love story.
Sapphire is a long time member of the Kincaid Pack who manages their Crescent Moon Bar. She get a coded call from Luna her foster BFF that's closer than a sister, that she's in trouble and to come ASAP. She immediately starts packing and tells her currently-in-charge alpha Asher, she's gonna be gone for a while. Asher is being visited by Eli, his old military buddy, who is a lone bounty hunter jaguar shifter. Since Eli has no pack to report to Asher asks him to back-up Sapphire as he's short handed and has no one to spare. She and Eli have a past. They shared a steamy 2 night stand a month ago and she split before it got messy. He insists he comes along. He's been looking for her for a month because he knows she's his mate, he senses it bone deep. Luna's daughter Leslie needs to get away from her abusive mate and she's in a crummy pack that's not doing anything about it. Leslie's mate is out of town on business for a few days and now is their chance to break away. Sapphire and Eli drive for what seems like forever to Wyoming and plan to take them to Malcolm's Kendrick Pack in Montana.
**I received a copy of Jaguar's Mate from KR Press, LLC and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.**
Jaguar's Mate by Katie Reus is the eighth book in her Crescent Moon series. I've read the first two books in the series and now this addition as a stand alone without any issues. However I have to say that I loved this one (so far) the best and give it all 5 stars. This is Eli and Sapphire's story for a second chance at romance.
Sapphire receives a call from her best friend Luna asking for help to retrieve her daughter Leslie from an abusive husband. Once she clears the trip to Wyoming with her acting Alpha he requests that she take a mate with her. When she sees that Eli Scott is that extra person Sapphire hesitantly agrees as they expect trouble from Leslie's bodyguards. There is trouble after they meet with Luna and Leslie but nothing that Eli and Sapphire can't handle together. They know that the new pack in Washington state will accept both friends. When Sapphire and Eli rekindle their attraction will they be able to leave once they return to Alabama or is this possibly a happily ever after for them?
Eli Scott has been attracted to Sapphire for a long time so when Asher asks him to go with her to Wyoming he doesn't hesitate. When trouble with Leslie's bodyguard one their way to her new home he doesn't hesitate to call upon his Jaguar and help Sapphire take out the threat. Can he convince her that she's his mate and that Eli wants her forever?
Sapphire and Eli had a two-night stand and went their separate ways. As luck would have it, Eli is a friend of Asher's who is left in charge while Grant, the pack Alpha, is gone. Sapphire has received an urgent call for help from her friend, Luna, whose daughter is in an abusive relationship and is pregnant. When she shows up at Asher's to ask for help, Eli is on the job. Nobody else is available. Sapphire takes who she can get and heads out with Eli to get to Wyoming to rescue Luna's daughter.
While they're on the road, Eli and Sapphire get to know each other better. Eli already knows she's his mate, but she thinks she's cursed and refuses to acknowledge any of that. He has to make her see things his way in a kind way so he doesn't scare her off.
This book is a fast-mover, as all of the books in this series are. It's got some action and some hot scenes that keep the plot moving. The plot was tight and the writing was great. Although this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
Katie Reus’ Jaguar's Mate is a short novella that takes place in the Crescent Moon shifter world. Jaguar’s mate just happens to be a wolf who is part of the Alabama pack. For a short book there is a constant change of setting from Alabama to Wyoming to Montana. Along the way several previous characters make an appearance. For those who have been reading the series that is a plus, for those who are reading it as a stand-alone, it is not a problem. The background of these characters is not necessary to fully enjoy Jaguar’s Mate.
Road trip, sneaky escape and fight scene all along the way of find Eli and Sapphire’s HEA. They have a past so while it is not instant love the instant mating pull is among these shifter stories. There is the expect heat to go with the attraction in this fast moving plot. Since it is not as long as some of Darkness series books there is not as much time for in depth character building especially with the villain. Still for a couple of hours of reading, it is enjoyable and attention holding.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
