I actually learned a lot from this

This book literally has every answer to almost any question you can think of about Whales or Dolphins. While there has been a lot of research done in the past decade, most of the answers are still solid for the lay reader. Some of them may be a bit basic for a person already well read in biology (What is a cetacean?) but for those that find that question mundane, there's questions like "Do cetaceans communicate by anything except sound?", "Why do some cetaceans have/lack a dorsal fin?", "What is the purpose of the throat grooves?", "How difficult is it to pursue a career in marine mammal science?", and full species accounts.
If your question isn't answered by this book, chances are the research hasn't been done to adequately answer it anyway.
