Sir Bernard Rowland Crick was a British political theorist and democratic socialist whose views were often summarised as "politics is ethics done in public". He sought to arrive at a "politics of action", as opposed to a "politics of thought" or of ideology.

lo compré en un re-read baratísimo así que valió su precio, i guess. hay ciertas cosas que dice del marxismo con las que no estoy de acuerdo, por otra parte siempre está bien leer a autores con quienes no comparto ideología, así que todo ok. me hubiera gustado que profundizase más en qué ideologías se derivan del socialismo primitivo, pero bue

It gives you perspective of the socialism theory. Where it comes from, why, references from different socialist points of view and values of the classic socialism. I guess now It should be renewed with the nowadays facts and development of this political ideology including a different point of view of feminism and also the direct democracy.

I bought this book more than twenty years ago. The ideas inside are still worthy of reflection on today's socialist democratic movement. The movement brings principles from two opposing sides: authoritarianism and Marxist socialism. This book answers some of my questions regarding why socialism arose and how to reconcile both democracy and socialism.

Considero que este libro logra explicar mejor los orígenes de las doctrinas socialistas que mostrar el camino para implantar el socialismo. Lo último es un gran fallo del autor. Desde que terminé de leer el texto me quedé con la idea que el socialismo es la superación de las contradicciones habidas y posibles en el mundo y en ese sentido es más aspiración que algo sólido.

Lamento del libro además que no haya sido explícito en los orígenes del fabianismo y del partido laborista, movimientos de los que no se conoce mucho fuera del Reino Unido; los extractos de autores como los esposos Webb no sustituye un capítulo sobre aquellos movimientos.

La revisión a las cuestiones que debe atender el socialismo para su éxito fue tan maltrecha que considero que Giddens en un trabajo más coyuntural hizo una mejor labor.

Es un libro para disfrutar la tarde.
