This is a cute book featuring a Black family on Laundry Day. They all pack up to go to their local Laundromat, where the owner relates the history of Thomas Jennings the first African American to get a patent in the United States.
The pictures are vivid. Gary's family is wholesome with an inventor father, and Gary relates that he takes after his "brainiac" mother. This is a great book on US history, a part of history that I myself didn't know until this book.
⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 Rounded Up to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

This book is cute. The illustrations are happy and engaging. The info it presents is fasinating. I found the prose was a little unpolished and didn't flow as well as some children's books might. I also really didn't like the font choice.
However I am not this book's target audience. I would 100% buy this book for a young child though.
