The Book Of Hot: A Manifesto Health, mind, body; Romance

This book advocates lots of things, like finding out what your dream job is and going for it, instead of settling for a job you hate just to pay the bills if you’re like the author and of a certain age. She found herself at age 62, an empty nester, post-menopause, and feeling like she needed to stop wasting her time and life on the job she hated. The book is her sharing how she changed that, along with tips on how you can too. It’s pretty g

Mrs. Hot is funny, I like the way she writes about her life. I think I would read this book for the comic relief. Unfortunately, her philosophy on beauty and aging--I do not subscribe to. You can only be beautiful if you are thin, wrinkle free, and squeezed into a tight sexy dress wearing stilettos and mucho makeup... Men have to be attracted to you-everything you do to yourself has to be done to make a man want you. No, NO.Just NO. Looks are deceiving--unless all you want is sex. If so, then go ...more

I'm a fan of really sharp, clever, WITTY writing. Think Charles Dickens, Christopher Hitchens, James Wolcott. It's rare to find it. But now I discovered wordsmith Mrs. Hot.
This book is a treasure of pith and laughter, and the refreshing honesty is simply out of this world. Mrs. Hot pulls no punches. She teaches us to be authentic and true to ourselves, and that's exactly the way she writes.
She boldly courts controversy, but as she'd be the first to tell you, that's how she rolls: "Deal with it.

A steamy smoking hot romance book. Great characters that will make you fall in love with them and their stories. Relatable characters.

Attention Sexy Sexagenarians: The Book of Hot blasts tired, old paradigms ("Same old is so, well, same OLD"), and societal, cultural and religious limitations that imprison us and make us depressed and unfulfilled --Mrs.Hot rightly calls them "buzzkills." She shows us how to question and defy them, and be true to ourselves, as she is: not just EXISTING an existence, but LIVING a Life à la Hot. Oh, and there's plenty of sex and laughter, too.

"An entertaining and educational firsthand account of an older woman’s single sexual life."
Kirkus Reviews
"The pseudonymous Mrs. Hot offers a guide to women nearing 60 who are currently in—or planning to join—the dating scene, featuring accounts of her personal experiences and tips on beauty and self-confidence.
Following her divorce, the debut author was a single mother who spent two decades in voluntary celibacy. But after her son left home, she felt it was time for a change. In her late 50s, s

I don't even know where to start, but this will be long.

I thought this would be a book about one woman's road to self love. Learning to love herself becoming the "goddess" she knew she was.
While I may not agree with her process, this woman did what she needed to do to love herself. And however she got there, I am glad she did.

HOWEVER, this read more like a womans journey through... plastic surgery. She encouraged women “if you can afford them they make all the difference..." and if you can’t

In this ground-breaking book targeted at women "of a certain age," Mrs.Hot decimates antiquated ideas about older women's sexuality, replacing them with a new, exciting template of self-actualization and freedom. It's about time!

Mrs. Hot: The Mae West of modern times? If you're looking for guidance on how to throw a little sauce into your interactions, Mrs. Hot's gotcha covered. Inspiring stuff for all adventurous women. Valuable perspective and most importantly, plenty of backbone. Be prepared to take notes.

The Book of Hot! is a sexual health, love & romance, sexuality manifesto authored by Mrs. Hot about what women sixty and older can look forward to in regard to their sexual and romantic lives. Penned for "Boomers" it holds some truths and advice for those of us even decades away from that stage can store in our reserves.

The term "inner goddess" conjured up bad memories from Fifty Shades of Grey but beyond all that this is a tale of how Mrs. Hot changed not only her outlook on her love life b

Not what I expected

Mrs. Hot pens an interesting Manifesto, called The Book of Hot. I must admit it wasn't what I thought it was, but I found it more interesting and kept reading it. Basically, life does not end after 60, and it can become more exciting and intense. Mrs. Hot wants the reader to channel their Inner Goddess. She also writes, "Here’s to activating your happiest, healthiest, sexiest you, not just existing, but living your own ever youthful, ever-vibrant Life à la Hot." And then it be

Taking back her life

The book of hot is Mrs Hot’s story of coming of (retirement) age and deciding to reboot her life. From drab to fab and out of a job that she hates, Mrs Hot works to make her life something that she is proud of. It’s her story. It seems to be a great motivational piece for people, especially women, who feel stuck. I’d love to pass this along to my widowed grandmother to read. Mrs Hot’s message would inspire others like my grandmother: “Get out there! Do something!” I think the

If Mrs Hot feels empowered by all that she does then good for her. Frankly I couldn’t be arsed with the hassle (and expense) of trying to maintain a pristine appearance 24/7. Perhaps when I hit my 60s I’ll feel differently but I very much doubt it. That said, the book is readable and better written than I expected, though I found it a bit repetitive in places. As empowered as Mrs Hot claims to be, one can’t help but observe that the menfolk aren’t pissing about with brandy snifters, corn muffin ...more

I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I'm 64 and this resonated with me completely. I've long wondered why women our age aren't treated as we were when we were younger. It just isn't fair. Now, Mrs.Hot has come to our rescue. First she tells us about her transformation in her later years "from shot to hot," and tells us how to do it, and that's so inspirational to a woman like me who society has thrown under the bus. Then she tells us how to get into the modern dating world, which has really changed since ...more

Recommends it for: Any woman with the courage to choose "living" over "existing."
In profoundly wise and often hilarious style, Mrs. Hot reminds us we are here not to EXIST an existence, but to LIVE a life -- as she puts it, an exuberant, fulfilling Life à la Hot. She details how she did it, then shows us how to do it for ourselves, finishing with a series of ribald stories of her adventures with men of all ages that challenge the idea that sexy women can age out of romantic romps. Bad hottitude, indeed.

The Book of Hot: A Manifesto
First of all, the author of this book chose to write under the name Mrs. Hot which in itself passes on a lot of strong messages. I particularly like the fact that at some point by just looking at the cover of the book I had some wild expectations of what I was actually going for. Even though I am not a lady, there are a lot of points I can borrow from this amazing well-organized work.
This book has elaborately written pages with a lot of guidelines for women around the

You are only as old as you feel!

I must admit, I’m on the fence with Mrs. Hot’s The Book of HOT. As a senior I’m all about not letting a number(age) keep you from living your life at your fullest, but how authentic is it if you feel you need as much cosmetic surgery to get there as the author says she’s had. Not really what the average woman would do, presuming she could even afford it. Part self help, part sexy times. I think each reader will have to decide for themselves if this book is for the

I received an ARC of this book through #Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review. The thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own, made of my own free will.

It's not often that I read a book of this genre/type but the description made it sound entertaining and something that real women could relate to. Maybe help us in laughing at ourselves or inspire us to make changes in our own lives.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. If another writer had written the story, in a format t

I really enjoyed this book. And I was surprised actually how much I liked it. To be honest when I request it I thought is going to be an erotic romance and didn't even read the blurb. So when I started it I read that is not a romance at all but more like a memoirs or even an autobiagraphy. And I don't usually read those kind of books and I thought oh I might leave it for some other time. But then I start reading a bit just to see what is about. And I was really surprised that it actually kept me ...more

I’ve got a bad hottitude, and I’ve every intention of keeping it! Though I grew up in the Midwest and a couple foreign countries, New York City is the great love of my life, and I’ve lived there (with a couple detours to Europe and Sedona) ever since college. I attended the Madeira School, studied political science and art history at Vassar College, and have two masters degrees, one in education, ...more
