As this is a sequel and directly picks up where the first book ends, there will be spoilers for the first book in this review! I don’t really want to dance around what happened and try not to give big spoilers away for this. Got it? Good. Sorry y’all who haven’t read this fantastic series, but maybe it’ll give you a jump on reading it?

So, as I said, this picks up immediately after the last boo

I really liked the first book in this series, but it was so good as a standalone that I see no reason to read this, especially since my favorite boi won't be in it :'(

Why is it getting a sequel? What else is there? I’ll still read it though.

That epilogue at the end of SEA WITCH was a killer and so SEA WITCH RISING picks up at that point in time where on land in Denmark, Europe is poised for World War II. Evie returns in her end role from the previous book and my favourite part of this book was Evie.

The Sea Witch was more of an endearing character, with more humanity than Disney portrayed and this led to a richer story for me. The connections to Niklas’ family made for a story that spun generations. There were a new s

Sea Witch Rising picks up right where we left off from Sea Witch. Evie is tethered to her cave of darkness and avoided by the merpeople as per the Sea King. Evie craves freedom from her isolation. Princess Alia comes to Evie to make the forbidden bargain of turning into a human for four days in an attempt to prove that Niklas, the grandson of the original Nik from Sea Witch, loves her. Even though Alia knows that her father would be outraged, she bargains her voice to strike the magical deal.

I mentioned in my review of Sea Witch last year that I would be interested in a sequel that explored the dynamic between the Sea Witch and the little mermaid as it retold the classic tale. Lo and behold, a year later we have Sea Witch Rising which supposedly does exactly that. Unfortunately, it is not the book that I was hoping for.

Sea Witch Rising is sloppy on a technical level, but I’ll admit that some of my disappointment probably stems from my having different expectations from what novel a

Received an arc via NetGalley for an honest review.

Having read Sea Witch a few months ago and absolutely loved it (5⭐ book) I was so grateful to have received an arc of this second book.

In this story we follow Alia and Runa - twins, mermaids and daughters of the Sea King. Alia has fallen in love with a human and decides to trade with the sea witch. She will have four days as a human to prove that the love she has is not only reciprocated but true love or she will pay the biggest price wit

“Come away, come away
O’er the waters wild.
Our earth-born child
Died this day, died this day

Come away, come away
The tempest loud
Weaves the shroud
For him who did betray.

Come away, come away
Beneath the wave
Lieth the grave
Of him we slay, him we slay”

I really enjoyed this! I enjoyed the first book last year, and was looking forward to this. I liked the take on the story originally, and this follows on really nicely - encompassing more of the little mermaid story we know, but still putting its own twist - like Runa, the sea king and the war. I particularly liked how the war played into it, and into the threat to the underwater kingdom.

This is the sequel to Sea Witch the backstory on one of the most evil villains of all time from the Little Mermaid. I really enjoyed this sequel way more then book one as i felt that it was mostly telling us what we all ready knew about this tale. This sequel takes what was lacking in book one and throughly different story that we all know. This is why i am liking the new malificent story as we have these evil characters but Disney never really tells us why they are evil. What decision changed t ...more

(Disclaimer: I received this book from Edelweiss. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Sea Witch Rising impresses me with how clever Henning is. Sure, Sea Witch was utterly brilliant, but really Henning outdoes expectations in the sequel. Multiple different re-interpretations of The Little Mermaid, meets a story where the timeline of the first book serves as a legend in the present? So clever! Not only that, but I love that we are given the last pages of the first to jog

And though I didn't like it as much as the first one, I definitely loved it enough to call it a favourite. :3

Not what I thought this would be. And I don't mean that in a bad way. I really enjoyed this.
So..for the record, this story takes place 50 years after Evie's origin story. A new twist on the little mermaid.

I received a copy of Sea Witch Rising in exchange for a fair and honest review. Though to be fair, I had already intending to read and review the sequel to Sea Witch.

Sea Witch Rising is the dramatic conclusion to the Sea Witch plot by Sarah Henning. In this novel, we see the tale of the Little Mermaid retold in a truly unique fashion. To say that the focus was entirely on the Sea Witch wouldn’t be entirely accurate; the little mermaids in this tale did get to tell their tale as well.

'Sea Witch Rising' is the electric sequel to 'Sea Witch', an original and imaginative retelling of The Little Mermaid. You definitely want to read the first book before this one or you'll be completely lost. I absolutely loved the first book and couldn't wait to get my hands on this novel. I have to admit that I had high hopes and expectations going in because of how much I enjoyed the first book. I'm very happy to say that it lived up to anything I might've hoped for and then some.

Sea Witch Rising is the sequel to The Sea Witch and it was not at all what I was expecting. I loved the first book and completely devoured it, but didn't feel the same love for this one.

The story picks up where the epilogue of The Sea Witch ends in the year 1914. Alia is a mermaid who longs to be a human, in love with Nik's grandson. Her twin sister Runa, follows her to try to undo her bargain with the sea so she will live if she fails, much like Hans Christian Andersen's original tale. But we a

Sea Witch Rising, by Sarah Henning, is the second book in the Sea Witch series, which is a retelling of The Little Mermaid that focuses on another character in the tale. This young adult fantasy novel will be released on August 6, 2019, by Katherine Tegen Books. This review is spoiler-free.

Sea Witch Rising takes place decades after Sea Witch and tells the story of Runa, a sea princess, who stops at nothing to save her twin sister, Alia. Runa defies magic to help Alia return to the sea as a merma

The politics get a bit more confusing in this follow up, which sees Evie, our Sea Witch, re-enacting the Little Mermaid by sending Alia ashore without her voice to capture the heart of her prince - the grandson of the boy Evie loved once. Alia's sister refuses to take it lying down, though, and demands to negotiate her own deal.

The fifty year gap between this story and the first one means that some things are filled in on the run, as it were. This one is also rooted in a much more modern time t
