A hilariously informative book of facts, farts, and fun! Dogs fart. Cats fart. Horses fart (a lot). But what about snakes? Spiders? Octopuses? What about chimpanzees? Cheetahs? Or dinosaurs? In this gaseous guide to kids' favorite animals (and some they've probably never heard of), young readers will discover not only which animals pass gas, but also which have the stinkiest farts, which fart the most, and where all this smelly stuff comes from. They'll even learn which species has its own secret fart code! Perfect for reluctant readers, and with full-color illustrations throughout, Does It Fart? is the funniest book you never knew you needed. Based on the New York Times bestseller Does It Fart?: The Definitive Field Guide to Animal Flatulence.
5 laugh-out-loud stars for this hilariously factual children’s book!
Pee-Yew! Yes - you read that right - this book is about farts. An uncomfortable topic for some, a hilarious topic for most littles. Needless to say, my four and five-year-old LOVED this book! It is scientific and educational, yet fun and silly.
It incorporates a guessing game for children to hypothesize if certain animals and creatures fart or not (not all do!). They have to flip the page to find out the answer with a child-friendly explanation.
The flow of the book is perfectly paced to keep their attention piqued from start to finish. The illustrations are excellent. We highly recommend for any of the fart-obsessed littles in your life!
Thank you to Hachette Book Group for sending me a physical copy to read and review with my children!
An awesome way to discuss a not so awesome subject. Wonderfully illustrated and very informative, this children’s book makes the subject of farts very down to earth and easy for children to learn and understand the process and purpose of the gas animals pass.
Kamēr vieni sajūsmā laiž gāzes par zivju un savvaļas dzīvnieku pētnieka Nika Karuzo un zooloģes Dani Rabojati kopīgi radīto smieklīgi informatīvo grāmatu, kas pilna faktiem, purkšķiem un smiekliem, tikmēr otri piedzīvo īstu reaktīvo hormonu caureju, nespējot rast mierinājuma atbildes uz jautājumu, kāpēc mūsu bērniem būtu jāpiedzīvo šāds smags degradācijas uzplaiksnījums. Jo pirdieni izraisa nomācošu pagrimumu, ziniet. Vairāk par grāmatu emuārā: https://austra.lv/2020/09/07/niks-kar...
Dabiski procesi nav tabu, lai viss neaizietu prastā "kaku joku" līmenī, lieliska grāmata. Izglītojoši par dzīvniekiem un par ķermeņa procesiem. Vai dinozauri purkšķina? Vairs ne! :D
THIS is the kind of nonfiction book we need more of - entertaining, a topic kids care about, and chock full of informative facts. This one will be fun to read aloud with kids!
Intro: This is a book about farts. That's right. Farts. Otherwise known as toots. Rips. Stinkers. Butt burps.
The premise of this book is that digestion causes gas and gas comes out as flatulence and since most animals do digestion, then some of them must fart. Then it introduces a straight-faced animal, starting with a horse, and asks whether or not it farts. The reader then turns the page and if the answer is Yes, the animal is grinning while farting. And that was my favorite part of this story.
This juvenilized version of Does It Fart?: The Definitive Field Guide to Animal Flatulence is perfect for kids who have a giant sense of humor and also like science or animals. Or science about animals. Not so perfect for parents who tsk-tsk the word "fart" or who feel that bodily expulsions should never be discussed aloud.
Oh this book is as funny as you think it will be, and as informative as you think it will be! It's actually pretty fascinating! Don't you want to know how one time an airplane carrying 2,000 goats had to land because they set off the fire alarms with their farting and burping?? The real question is who wants to do goat yoga after hearing this???
Sometimes you just know when you've found the book that will be the most popular one on your next round of school visits and I can almost guarantee it will be this one. A silly, informative book about animal farts? Sign most 3rd-5th graders up! This is a quick read with a silly premise but there is good information in here and I'm sure it will be a big hit with its intended audience.
This is a hilarious, interactive book that will get kids thinking about all animals and their farts--not just the ones covered in the book. Obviously the topic will be a hit with kids. Not a week goes by that I don't have to announce to a class (usually after lunch) that "everyone toots, we don't want to laugh and hurt someone's feelings." :)
Not a scratch-and-sniff book, thank goodness! Funny but also clear and informative. Which animals have the stinkiest farts, according to zookeepers? Sea lions. Must be all the fish.
After this book has been highlighted several times on various social media threads I borrowed it from @stoonlibrary to enjoy it for myself. This book starts conversations about what children are curious about - farts! It provides an introduction about what a fart is and how and why it happens with different animals. Then it does something brilliant - it lists the animals that it will talk about and asks the reader to predict what animal may or may not fart. It then follows the order with This is a/an - does it fart? And then on the following page it answers the questions and explains some other fun fact farts specific to that animal. There is a wide range of animals including all the different animal classes and will be an instant hit
Will you be adding this book to your classroom/school or public library - abstootely!
Does a horse fart? Does a spider? A whale? An octopus? A unicorn?
I confess that I have not been actively seeking the answers to these questions. Yet Does it Fart? provides them in an interesting and, at times, surprising ways.
Although I've outgrown the fart jokes (at least that is what I keep telling myself), I found this book to be both funny and informative. I also enjoyed the illustrations of various animals grinning cheekily as they let one (or several) slip.
For any Illinoisan readers, Does it Fart? is a nominee for the 2022 Bluestem Award (3-5th grade level books).
Fart humor won't get old and when you mix is with the why's and who's of the farting world for animals, it's a win-win. The book is a STEM-forward humorous nonfiction picture book about whether an animal farts by asking "does a horse fart?" "yes/no" then the why. It seeks out a few animals we don't know much about including one insect that farts as a way to kill their prey!
This is a humorously scientific look at farts. If you’re offended about farts and farting, then avoid this book. Other than that, it’s actually interesting. It discusses whether various animals fart or not and why they do or don’t.
Super cute, really funny and surprisingly informative! I would never have guessed that snakes fart. Lol! I imagine kids would absolutely love this book and there would be lots of giggles.
