Once again after reading a Robin Lee Hatcher book I have come away feeling refreshed and renewed in faith and spiritual well being.
This book is amazing! The characters held my attention and before I knew it I had read the whole book.
This is the second book in the Legacy of Faith series. It is a time split novel and once again the family bible has a strong connection between past and present, what a wonderful idea!

Who I Am with You was the first book I've read by this author and quickly realised I came upon another gem in the Christian fiction world. So I never thought twice about getting book 2 in the series.

Again, I was entertained with rounded characters who didn't had it easy, but learned and grew from their past experiences. I loved the whole therapy with horses theme. Ben quickly found a place in my heart with his gentleness and depth.

The dual-time story about Ben's great-great-great grandfather, wa

Robin Lee Hatcher is the author of many novels, but the first that I picked up was Who I Am With You, book one in the A Legacy of Faith series. And I quickly fell in love with Hatcher's writing style and her beautiful characters. So, of course, I was anxious to read book two!

Our main characters, Ben Henning and Ashley Showalter, are both unique and engaging characters. Ben is quite the gentleman, although he's not one of those too-perfect love interest characters. In fact, he has quite

There’s just something special about the writing of Robin Lee Hatcher, and Cross My Heart continues the trend of spiritually uplifting stories with rich, complex characterization and emotional depth. This story of addiction, grace and redemption moves at a steady pace that allowed me to be enveloped in the rural Idaho setting and life of Ben and Ashley, as well as Andrew and Helen of generations past. Although number 2 in the series, this sto

Cross My Heart was such a touching story of triumphing over addiction, forgiving others, and moving forward.

Although it is the second book in the Legacy of Faith series, it can be read as a stand alone. Both Cross My Heart and the first book in the series, Who I Am With You, have two storylines within each book. There is the modern day plot and the historical tale, connected through a Bible that is passed down through the generations.

I enjoyed the setting of this novel, on the family farm in bot

Cross My Heart is the second book in the Legacy of Faith series, but it is a standalone story. It is a dual-time story, with one family involved. Ben Henning and his grandfather Grant are the family members in the present, and Andrew Henning and his family are the focus of the past storyline, which takes place during WWII. It is the family bible and the names handwritten in it that bring the two timelines together.

Ben was a rebellious teen and after climbing behind the wheel while drunk he has

I’m always hesitant and cautious when I start a book by an author I’ve never read. Happily this book turned out to be one I enjoyed. (I didn’t realized it until late in the story that this is the 2nd book in the series, but it can be read as a stand alone without any trouble.)

While the author dealt with hard issues such as drugs and drinking, and how it affects others, she never went into details that made me feel dirty or uncomfortable. The horse rescue work was interesting, and I just wished t

I love being back with Grandpa Andrew Henning’s Bible and how he continues to touch the lives of his decedents.
The book does flash back to the time leading up to and continuing into WWII, and we are with those who are the family of the current day relatives.
The book does touch on some tough topics, and then with the help of those that have met the same challenges find healing. We put faces on these individual through the words of this author, and in the end, I wanted to go and volunteer at the r

In book two of Robin Lee Hatcher’s Legacy of Faith Series, God shows how He takes two broken hearts and puts them together again. Ben Henning, a recovering alcoholic and Ashley Showlater, who tries to fix her life and her family’s life on her own. I loved how the author used real world problems in her book. This book is about forgiveness and letting go of the past. It is also about healing and I love how the author intertwines the Equine therapy as a form of healing mental and physically in the ...more

I loved everything about this story--the dual times, the horse rescue setting, and characters with depth and charm. The story addresses heavy duty topics, but it's gently told. Loved it!

First of all, I love that this book has equine therapy. I think it is something that is extremely important in our world today and is very underrated. There are so many organizations across the US like Ben has, and this is a great way to promote it. Plus the horse rescues that Hatcher touched on. We see so much animal abuse in the news today and it absolutely breaks my heart. Now while I realize that not everyone has the means to do either of these things, perhaps this story will touch hearts an ...more
I really enjoyed book 1 of the A Legacy of Faith series, but Hatcher just nailed this one. You can't go wrong with realistic characters who pull at your heartstrings and then throw in dogs, horses, and Idaho farm country. Top it off then with a strong spiritual thread that is food for the soul, and you definitely have a winner.

Hatcher dealt with not so common subject matter in this one since the main male character, Ben, was a recovered alcoholic/drug user who only found his way back to normalit

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A contemporary Christian fiction novel with strong, relatable characters, alternating with a historical storyline involving the hero’s ancestors, “Cross my Heart” is a story about resilience and fighting adversity, be it one’s internal demons or a very real evil, like war.

This new book by Robin Lee Hatcher features a dual timeline with present day Ben Henning and his great-great grandfather Andrew Henning. As I alternated between Ben and Andrew's stories, I was reminded that even as we face struggles and heartaches there is always the hope that our future will be better. There is mention of both alcohol and drug addiction and the ability to overcome them is explored, along with forgiveness and redemption. A Bible that belonged to Andrew Henning is a part of this ...more

'People failed. Horses didn't. Horses never lied.'

Ben Henning and Ashley Showalter have a lot in common, one thing being they both love horse, so when Ben wants to get an equine therapy barn up and running, Ashley is very willing to help out. I loved this aspect of the story. Ben has been through a very rough time and Ashley has problems with trust, so they can both benefit from the equine therapy. Both stand in need of God's grace. He bestows that grace on His children every day. Hatcher weaves

Cross My Heart by Robin Lee Hatcher is a most delightful dual timeline Christian novel about love and the heart of God. It is the second book in the Legacy Of Faith series but can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed catching up with familiar faces.
The story spans present day and the World War II years. In both the characters trust God to see them through all the stages of life.
Prayer is important. “Our prayers never go unanswered, even when things don’t turn out the way we expected.” God answers

This is a sweet faith-filled tale that many readers will connect with through their own life experiences.
It is the second in the Legacy of Faith series, which weaves together the lives of a family during World War II and the family Bible that gives these cousins in the present day help and guide them.
Ashley's character really grated on me at first, until Hatcher shows her heart being beaten down over the years with disappointment and hurt from her brother's addiction. I appreciated tha

Sweet blend of contemporary and historical threads. Although the historical thread was minor in comparison, it was an excellent complement to the contemporary thread. The historical story continues Andrew and Helen's story from book one is this series. The time period is 1941-1945 with WWII as a threat and then a reality. I loved hearing more of their story.

The main thread was also engaging. Ben, a recovering alcoholic, and Ashley, who has a brother addicted to alcohol and drugs, are drawn to ea

Cross My Heart is a beautiful story. The second book in the Legacy Of Faith series, Cross My Heart follows two new main characters but also continues the historical story of the Henning family. This modern-day story is woven together by threads of the past and the history and faith of a family across multiple generations. Cross My Heart is a relaxing and restorative read.

What a wonderful story that captures the hearts of two people dealing with their past and trying to make a fresh start. The author does a great job of giving us characters that are easy to relate to and scriptures that fill your soul with hope. It is easy to fall in love with Ashley and Ben as they find common ground with love of horses and wanting to help hurting people. I loved the story and the message of hope and forgiveness. Love the redemptive quality of this story. Ben Henning is a new Farmer whose dream is to start a program with horses for those who have been hit with trauma at any stage of life. Ashley Showalter is a Horse Rescuer who is helping Ben find horses for his program. As this lives intersect, they find they have a lot more in common then they thought. Though I did not feel I really gelled well with Cross My Heart, I still find some enjoyment within its pages.

The writing style was simple, to the point. I usually prefer more embellishments .

The story line was enjoyable, though.

It was hard for me, in the beginning to really get into the book, but towards the end it really became worth it.

My favorite character was probably Grandpa Henning. He was wise, realistic, hopeful, deep, encouraging and prayful.
He reminded me a lot of my own grandfather

Such a good book!
This is the second book in the Legacy of Faith Novel series. Such a good book!
The book has two time lines. The first is set on a farm in Idaho during World War II. The family is fortunate to have the farm. The family is able to have sufficient food despite the rationing that is going on. The war touches the family in a personal way when two of the sons leave to fight in the war.
The second time line is the same farm in modern day Idaho. The current owner of the farm is entrusted

The story alternates between WWII time to present day with the changes to the Henning Farm and society. In current day, Ben inherits the Henning family farm that has been in his family for generations and wants to turn it into a rescue horse farm/rehab center for people struggling with addictions. He meets Ashley, who also loves and works with rescue horses, to pitch his idea about the farm and that he feels God is leading him to do that kind of work.

An equine therapy startup, substance addiction, and the US’s entry into World War II all play a role in Cross My Heart, book two in Robin Lee Hatcher’s Legacy of Faith series.

On the other side of some poor choices and dark years, Ben Henning’s dream of opening an equine therapy ranch on his great-great grandfather’s ranch is coming to fruition. In need of horses for the operation, he seeks out Ashley Showalter who is best known around town for her work rescuing mustangs.

Cross My Heart was fantastic. Book two in Robin's Legacy Of Faith series, this story was a joy to read. I really liked Ben and Ashley and my favorite character was Grandpa Grant. He was adorable! I loved the fact that Ben is starting an equine therapy center and all the horse stuff in the book. I have a personal experience with a equine therapy center while working as a Para, and I can tell you it works. So to see it in a novel

Robin Lee Hatcher has written a beautiful duel timeline story about heartache, mistakes, and redemption. Both stories within the novel are powerful and inspiring as they bring to life the struggles, hardships, heartaches, and mistakes, as well as the joys, forgiveness, and redemption. Focusing on strengthening relationships is another strong topic in this story. Encompasses some hard topics in her novel, Hatcher does it with grace and skill. This is by far my favorite series by this author! A split time series with a family Bible that is the link between past and present is a terrific idea, and I love the stories that have been created.

This has a wonderful plot, a slow moving relationship, terrific characters and just a really sweet story...both of them so touching. The angst and horror of war with faith as an anchor; a sordid past with faith getting him through each day. Reading the notes written by the man who relied on his faith
